2019 Gmc Acadia problems
The GMC Acadia is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors for its GMC division. The first-generation GMC Acadia shared the GM Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook, the Chevrolet Traverse, and the Buick Enclave. The Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Acadia replaces three of the 7- or 8-seater vehicles on the Buick-Pontiac–GMC dealership network, the midsize GMC Safari van, the GMC Envoy, and the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan for the domestic market. As of 2009, the Lambda vehicles have replaced the Buick Rainier, Buick Rendezvous, Buick Terraza, and the GMC Envoy XL and then subsequently the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer and the Isuzu Ascender. A Denali version of the Acadia debuted for 2011. In 2017, the second generation Acadia was repositioned as a mid-size crossover utility vehicle in order to compete within the growing midsize SUV market against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Edge, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
First generation (2007)
The Acadia represents GMC's entry-level truck-like CUV and is the first unibody vehicle from the marque. It is also GMC's first front-wheel drive passenger vehicle, and also the first such vehicle of any kind since the 1973-78 GMC Motorhome.
The Acadia has seating for eight and either front or all-wheel drive. With a 5,200 lb (2,359 kg) towing capacity, the Acadia slots between the GMC Terrain and the Yukon. The Acadia is the mid-priced Lambda model between the Chevrolet Traverse and Enclave.
In December 2006, all production and sales of the Acadia (and the Saturn Outlook) were temporarily stopped due to the engine mounts not having holes drilled to release accumulated water, as well as an issue with potentially faulty rivets in the load floor just forward of the vehicle's rear hatch. The assembly process was quickly adjusted, and dealership sales of the vehicles had resumed within days of the notice.
The first-generation Acadia was sold alongside its second-generation replacement as the Acadia Limited.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-07-31
- VIN: 1GKKNKLAXKZ
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: I am constantly getting a “shift to park” warning after putting my car in park. My car sometimes will not shut off because of this. It’s a safety issue for me because the car is not registering that it’s in park and my battery could very well die while I’m out with my children. This is a common complaint from what I’ve researched and needs to be fixed by GMC.
TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-30
- VIN: 1GKKNXLS0KZ
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: After roughly 7000 miles of use the 235/55R20 102V Goodyear Assurance Weatherready tire has a bulge in the sidewall. There are no scuffs or scars on the tire to indicate an impact caused the bulge, it appears there is some sort of separation within the layers of the sidewall. I asked a Goodyear retailer to inspect the tire and they said it's automatically considered impact damage if the bulge is in the sidewall and Goodyear would not warrant such damage even though there is no evidence such as cuts, scuffs or scars. The tire inflation is to manufacturer's specifications and the tire isn't loosing pressure. DOT 1M78AJA5R purchased Oct 22, 2023 date code 3622
POWER TRAIN,WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-01

They could not find any problems with the vehicle. I took the vehicle to GMC in Plano, TX. THey charged me for a new battery but the check engine light remained on after I picked up the vehicle with a newly installed battery. The dealership said it would eventually go off. I took the car to Automotive Solutions in September 2024 and they can not find anything wrong with the vehicle. The car can not pass Texas inspection with a check engine light on. There is a large group on FB having this same problem. August 2024 the car will recognize when it is shifted into park. Sometimes it rolls after puting the car in park.I took the car to Automotive Soulutions in September 2024 and they can not find anything wrong with the vehicle. There is a large group on FB having this same problem. I took the car into a GMC dealership in MA because i hit a curb in 2021. The steering wheel feels loose. I took the car in 2022 & 2023 for the same problem. The dealership charges me for repairs but there is a reoccurring steering problem. Other drivers have noticed this problem with my vehicle.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-15
- VIN: 1GKKNMLS0KZ
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: When I shifted to Park and hit the button to turn the car off, it continuously chimed and flashed the Shift to Park message on the dashboard. It would not allow me to fully turn off the car, stating I was not in Park, even though I was. I would have to turn the car back on, shift into drive or reverse, move forward or backward a little bit, hit the brake a few times, put it back to Park, hit the button, and hope it would turn off. It usually took four or five times of this routine before it would finally turn off correctly. It began happening more and more frequently over the course of a week by the time I could get it into the dealer. This is a safety issue, as the car was not fully in Park, and leaving it that way would have drained the battery as well as not allowed me to lock the doors while parked in my driveway. Thankfully, I have an extended warranty (car has 55,000 miles) and only had to pay my $200 deductible, but it was an over $500 fix. As this EXACT SAME issue is prevalent in these cars and was recalled on my same model in previous years, I feel the recall should be extended and these expenditures reimbursed.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-18
- VIN: 1GKKNULS0KZ
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Vehicle does not know it's in park. Can't turn off vehicle. Must shake or beat the shifter knob for vehicle to see it's in park.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-03
- VIN: 1GKKNULS8KZ
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: The Shift to Park feature malfunctions. Although my car is in Park it does not recognize it, gives me a 'Shift to Park' message and won't allow me to shut off the car. My car not correctly recognizing what gear it's in is a significant danger. This problem was a recall in 2017-2018 GMC Acadias but my car produced the same issue and was not recalled. The component was replaced by an IG Burton dealer. There were no other warning messages prior to the issue occuring.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-28
- VIN: 1GKKNULS9KZ
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: As previously reported by other owners of a 2017, 2018, 2019 Acadia- the “shift to park” message appears once I have put my car in park and turned it off. I have to restart my car, move the shifter to reverse, back up a tad bit, and put it back in park for the message to go away so I am able to turn my car off.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-27
- VIN: 1GKKNRLS5KZ
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Purchased this vehicle with 49,000 miles on it. Currently, it has 55,000. When I shift the car into park and turn it off. I am met with a consistent ding and error messages displaying “Shift to Park.” With this error message I am unable to fully turn my car off, it drains the battery and I cannot lock my car door. I have to turn the car back on and mess with the shifter which sometime takes a longtime. I cannot just leave my car on and drain the other components; it’s frustrating. I called my local GMC dealer. I told them about the current issues with these cars as it isn’t a secret that this is a common problem. I pointed out the TBS on this make and model and I’m expected to pay for this out of pocket because my powertrain warranty ended June 30th 2024.
STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-22
- VIN: 1GKKNPLS0KZ
- Components: STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Last week I parked in a large public parking lot and attempted to turn my car off. I received a notification in my dash to “shift to park” even though my car was already in park. I was unable to turn the car off or lock the doors. I ended up having to leave. I have now gotten this message six times in the past week. It can take up to twenty minutes to get the car to turn off so I can exit. Yesterday upon returning to the car I showed an error message as soon as I started it that the parking brake needed service, stabilitrak is disabled and steering assist is disabled- drive with care. As I tried to exit the parking lot, I found it almost impossible to turn the steering week. I pulled over and restarted the car, releasing the steering wheel so I could get home. This morning, all of the service lights were on and periodic warnings flashed on my dash throughout my drive to work. I contacted the dealership and was told that there is a recall for this exact issue on the 2015-2018 models of my car. I have a 2019. This is certainly a dangerous issue that should be proactively fixed and is clearly still present in years that are not being included in the recall. I was told my car was one month past its warranty and told I could pay 250$ for the issue to be assessed and then they could quote me on a fix. The dealership acknowledged that this is an issue they regularly fix.

2019 Gmc Acadia recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2019 Gmc Acadia.
- Manufacturer: General Motors, LLC
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, XT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, 2018-2021 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, 2019-2020 Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, GMC Acadia, Sierra 1500, and certain Continental tires sold to the aftermarket for various model year 2018-2021 vehicles. The affected tires were cured for too long during production.
- Consequence: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

I am thoroughly impressed with GMC! The ride is great, quiet, and the Bose sound system is exceptional. The V6 engine runs smoothly without any stop/start issues. Although the cup holders in the back seats are a bit of an issue, I was able to purchase a console from O'Reillys for just $12. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. I traded in my 2018 Journey GT and am now getting better fuel efficiency. It's worth noting that my vehicle is an SLE-2 with FWD, although this option was not available in the dropdown menu so I selected SLT-2.

I understand that it may seem confusing, but let me help clarify the seating capacity of this car. The second row bench comfortably seats three passengers. However, the middle seat does not have a traditional headrest that raises up. While it may not be the most comfortable option, it is safe for an adult or teen to sit there. I apologize for any confusion and hope this information helps.

Love it!

Overall, this is a nice SUV. Although the back-up camera could be clearer, it still gets the job done. The radio may be a bit complex, but it has some great features like USB, Bluetooth, OnStar, and XM radio. It's understandable that you prefer a simpler car, but for those who love all the extras, this would be a great SUV. The fuel economy is impressive at 24-26 MPG and it handles well with good power. The third row seating is only suitable for kids, but the leather on the dash and steering wheel is a nice touch. The buttons on the door handles to lock/unlock the doors are also a nice option. It's very comfortable to ride in, which is great for those with back problems. It's important to note that it takes dexos oil, so make sure you use the correct stuff. Overall, this is a great SUV with some impressive features.

I recently rented a car from Avis for three weeks, and although they upgraded me to what they called a 7-passenger vehicle, the GMC Acadia only had 6 seats. Unfortunately, there were only 2 cup holders, which made cleaning up a milkshake spill a bit of a hassle. The highway noise was quite loud at 67 db, similar to the noise level of a 737 flight, and even louder than a Boeing 767 at 72 db. This made it difficult to have a conversation while driving. Additionally, the car was not very stable in crosswinds and on wavy roads, which made my wife feel uncomfortable throughout the day. The center screen was also problematic, as it would randomly disconnect from car-play, requiring me to unplug and plug in my phone again and search for the hidden Waze icon. Despite the large size of the screen, it could have been more user-friendly. I'm not sure if it was a factory setting or another renter, but the doors were programmed to lock as soon as they were closed, which was a bit inconvenient. However, I eventually figured out how to reprogram them. On the plus side, the rear camera and approaching object warning were very helpful. Although the car was quite large for only 6 passengers, it did have some good features.

I recently rented a 2019 GMC Arcadia from a national rental car company. The vehicle looked great on the outside and was comfortable for the driver and front passenger. However, the middle row was a bit tight for the kids. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the car during my trip. While driving on the highway, the car started making a loud rumbling noise, which was quite concerning. The rental company had me stop at a nearby airport to switch out the car, but the replacement vehicle had the same issue. The noise, vibration, and rattling persisted throughout my trip to the beach and back. Additionally, the smaller engine was not very powerful and sounded like a moped whenever I accelerated. When I returned the car, I mentioned these issues to the attendant, who informed me that other renters had also complained about the size, power, and noise of this particular model.

After selling my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, I planned on purchasing a 2019 Explorer Sport. However, a family member offered me GMS Employee pricing and suggested I look at the Acadia. The dealership was efficient and made the sale happen quickly. I was confident that I was purchasing a great vehicle and saving a lot of money. Unfortunately, when it arrived at the dealership, I noticed a loose panel in the driver's area next to the center console and a massive gap in the plastic parts. The dealership had a technician repair it, but there is now a permanent scar where his screwdriver scratched the cheap plastic. Additionally, there was a scratch on the base of the tachometer needle behind the protective glass when it was new, which may have been due to poor assembly equipment. When I started using the vehicle, I immediately drew comparisons to my girlfriend's 2016 Jeep Cherokee and my father's 2015 Explorer and my previous Jeep Wrangler. Although the Acadia has some great features, I found that it lacked the convenience of the key fob that the Jeep and Explorer have. For instance, you can't simply remote start with a double press of the fob; instead, you have to lock the doors (even if they're locked) and then press and hold the remote start and then hope it worked. The Jeep's both simply require a double click, and the vehicle locks itself and starts. Similarly, when you get into the vehicle with the key fob, you can't just reach for the door handle and have it unlock like you can with the Explorer or Cherokee; you instead have to push the button on the door handle. Likewise, when you get out, you have the option of having the doors automatically lock, but this doesn't work when the vehicle is running. So, say you want to run into a store and leave the car running with the AC on because you have your dog in the car. Overall, I believe that the Acadia has some great features, but it lacks the convenience and ease of use that the Jeep and Explorer have. The GMC Acadia has some areas that could use improvement. The feature that automatically locks the car can be frustrating when it engages at the wrong times, but it doesn't always work when you need it to. Additionally, the owners manuals were packaged in a plastic baggie, which seems cheap compared to the leatherette binders that come with other new vehicles. The center console lacks an upper tray for easy access to frequently used items, which is a feature found in most other vehicles. The rear cup holders are located in the door, which can be inconvenient and potentially messy. The transmission can feel hesitant or struggle to find the right gear, especially when climbing hills. The fuel economy is also lower than expected for a new generation V6 engine. However, the GMC Acadia still has many positive features and capabilities that make it a worthwhile choice for some drivers.I have always disregarded fuel economy, having driven the Rubicon with Mud Terrains. However, I expected to see a significant improvement in this aspect when I purchased this vehicle, not a reduction. Looking back at this purchase, I was impressed by the vehicle's appearance and the latest tech it offered. However, after owning it for a few months, it is evident that GM is still struggling to produce a quality vehicle after their bailout. Regrettably, this will be the last GM vehicle I purchase. I should have invested an additional $8,000 and bought the vehicle I wanted, the Ford Explorer Sport.

Although I purchased my Acadia a month ago and love everything about the car, I have noticed one significant issue. The front seats are relatively small for a vehicle of this size, and I find that my back lacks support due to the tapering of the backs towards the headrest. This lack of support is particularly noticeable when going into turns, and I feel as though I may slip off the seat. I have measured the seats of other vehicles, including Subarus, Nissan Muranos, and Nissan Maximas, and have found that they all have much larger seats and backs. Unfortunately, this issue is a significant letdown for me, and I am already considering trading in the vehicle.

I have owned 3 previous Acadia's and noticed that the size of the vehicle has been reduced significantly. Additionally, I find the driver's seat to be uncomfortable and lacking in movement compared to my previous Acadias. However, I am confident that I will be able to trade it for a more suitable vehicle.
