2014 Ford Mustang problems

The Ford Mustang is a series of American automobiles manufactured by Ford. In continuous production since 1964, the Mustang is currently the longest-produced Ford car nameplate. Currently in its seventh generation, it is the fifth-best selling Ford car nameplate. The namesake of the "pony car" automobile segment, the Mustang was developed as a highly styled line of sporty coupes and convertibles derived from existing model lines, initially distinguished by "long hood, short deck" proportions.

Originally predicted to sell 100,000 vehicles yearly, the 1965 Mustang became the most successful vehicle launch since the 1927 Model A. Introduced on April 17, 1964 (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda), over 400,000 units were sold in its first year; the one-millionth Mustang was sold within two years of its launch. In August 2018, Ford produced the 10-millionth Mustang; matching the first 1965 Mustang, the vehicle was a 2019 Wimbledon White convertible with a V8 engine.

The success of the Mustang launch led to multiple competitors from other American manufacturers, including the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird (1967), AMC Javelin (1968), and Dodge Challenger (1970). It also competed with the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched around the same time. The Mustang also had an effect on designs of coupes worldwide, leading to the marketing of the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri in the United States (the latter, by Lincoln-Mercury). The Mercury Cougar was launched in 1967 as a unique-bodied higher-trim alternative to the Mustang; during the 1970s, it included more features and was marketed as a personal luxury car.

From 1965 until 2004, the Mustang shared chassis commonality with other Ford model lines, staying rear-wheel-drive throughout its production. From 1965 to 1973, the Mustang was derived from the 1960 Ford Falcon compact. From 1974 until 1978, the Mustang (denoted Mustang II) was a longer-wheelbase version of the Ford Pinto. From 1979 until 2004, the Mustang shared its Fox platform chassis with 14 other Ford vehicles (becoming the final one to use the Fox architecture). Since 2005, Ford has produced two generations of the Mustang, each using a distinct platform unique to the model line.

Through its production, multiple nameplates have been associated with the Ford Mustang series, including GT, Mach 1, Boss 302/429, Cobra (separate from Shelby Cobra), and Bullitt, along with "5.0" fender badging (denoting 4.9 L OHV or 5.0 L DOHC V8 engines).

I practically stood on the brake pedal, but the car was inching forward, as I put the transmission into park. This was not a subtle situation, it was dangerous. The engine went from idle to screaming within 2 seconds. I ruled out the floor mat as it was in the proper position and snapped into the floor. It did not cause any warning lights to come on. in May, I had the oil changed, at which time they suggested that they clean the throttle body, which they did. They never heard of the above problem.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-06-20
  • VIN: 1ZVBP8AM5E5
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: On 5-26-22 i took my mustang to Roush Ford in Hillard Oh. They tested and found out that I needed a lead frame connector. Part # Al327627V $ 226.10. I paid in advance for this part as Roush said they would not order unless I paid in advance. Roush stated they would call when part comes in. I made several attempts to get status of part and all they would say is they were still awaiting. On or about 6-20-23 I called again, At this time they stated the dealership had been sold to Valley ford and still no word on part arrival. I have owned several Fords in my life but after awaiting over 1 yr on a part and car I could not safely have my wife drive I decided to trade it in for another vehicle. I then called Valley to ask for them to credit my card in the amount of the part. They told me that the money went with Roush and they could not return my money?? They suggested I call Roush auto group( Honda ). I made the call to service manager and he said that Roush Ford was no longer in business and they could not refund my monies. In my mind Ford was paid the $226.10 and someone should be able to pay me back. I am asking that The Ford Motor co honor the deal by paying me back. Thanks

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-11-08
  • VIN: 1ZVBP8CF7E5
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I currently own a 2014 Mustang GT with a manual transmission and notice my emergency brake release button was cracking. The button is made of cheap plastic and the dealer does not have a replacement release button. They only sell the whole emergency brake, which I feel that Ford should she be responsible of replacing the emergency brake button, since this is a safety issue that you cannot engage the emergency brake or disengage the emergency brake button when parking your vehicle on a hilly driveway or any hill at all. Which I leave in Northern California that is very hill and feel that if my car ever comes disengaged out of 1st gear it would cause serious damages to others, such as crashing into a building or other cars or even a fatality.

Negative 2014 Ford Mustang car reviews

  1. Kian Tromp 2024-11-12

After the 1st year of ownership, I couldn't wait to get rid of it. Unfortunately, this model was designed with a flaw. Every time it got wet or rained, the water off the top went into wells in the door that overflowed into the car floor. When I took it in, it took almost two years for them to own up to the design problem. Before they accepted the problem, they told me it was a maintenance issue for me to fix every time it rained by bringing the car in to have the plugs pulled out and let the water drain from the rain or having it washed. This 'maintenance' cost me almost $300 every trip and during afternoon heat showers in the Summer, it was outrageous! I wonder who designed this model and what car they drive?

In June 2015, Ford informed all Mustang (and potentially other makes and models) owners that their airbags needed to be replaced. Since then, I have been calling to check on the progress of the situation. As a concerned parent, I do not want to put my children or myself in a car where the very function that is supposed to help us in an accident could result in serious injury or death, as stated in the 2nd recall letter I received last week. When I called Ford's service division to discuss what they will be doing for their customers, the service lady informed me that we would have to wait another 6 months for the part to slowly come in. As a customer, I feel that this is very irresponsible on Ford's part. It is unfair to have their customers drive around in a car that could put them at greater risk in an accident than the very accident itself. I believe that Ford should allow customers who bought cars to return them or provide us with safer vehicles in the meantime until these issues are fixed.

Other than that, typical maintenance. The drop top is really fun and it handles well with over 300 horsepower!

The 2014 Mustang GT Premium with the 5.0L V8 and the 6 spd manual is a great car, but there are some things to keep in mind. The engine is a smooth Japanese V8 with DOHC and VTec, but it may lack the torque and immediacy of the old 5.0L small block. However, if you rev the engine well beyond 4k rpm, you can still enjoy the benefits over a V6 sedan. The transmission is a 6 speed MT-82 Getrag, which some drivers may find disappointing due to its remote mounted shifter and the stock Turkish sourced clutch assembly. However, there are ways to adjust your clutch engagement method to dampen the severity of the noise. The brakes are adequate, but it's recommended to find a model with the track package containing up-sized Brembo calipers. The steering is numb electric power steering, but there are 3 modes to adjust the weight. Overall, the Mustang GT provides a great engine with a car wrapped around it. While there may be some issues, they all have solutions and can be addressed by the owner or aftermarket suppliers.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your Mustang! It's great to see someone breaking out of the norm and trying something new. And the Mustang SUV sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun too!

I've always wanted a Mustang Convertible! After doing some research, I found this beauty for a great price and in perfect condition. I had her detailed since dealerships don't always do the best job with a simple wash. She's absolutely stunning and I never thought I could love a car as much as I love her! She just wants to go when I'm on the open road. Living in a beach town, a convertible is a must and it turns many heads! Although the gas may go quicker, I still love to drive her. Keep in mind that there isn't much room in the back for larger adults, so if you regularly have more than two people, this may not be the best option. However, the average adult will enjoy it just as much as I do.

This car is an absolute blast to drive and offers incredible performance value. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy taking it on drives, and the acceleration from its 305 HP V6 is truly exhilarating. Plus, with 30 miles per gallon on the highway, it's a great choice for long road trips. I highly recommend this car - you won't be disappointed! In fact, we recently completed a 2,000 mile round trip from Sacramento to Yellowstone National Park, and the Mustang was an absolute joy to drive, even on 2 lane 80 mph roads where we easily passed slower 18 wheelers.

I was looking for a fun car to drive without any pretentiousness, just good old-fashioned American muscle. I chose Ford initially because they didn't take any government handouts, and I'm glad I did. This Mustang BOSS 302 in race red is simply outstanding. While I could achieve the advertised mpg by driving it conscientiously, I just can't resist the power, exhaust note, and fun of this fantastic motor. Although the interior is just so-so and the radio is mediocre, the exterior styling and powertrain are awesome. Thank you, Ford!
