2020 Ford Mustang problems
The Ford Mustang is a series of American automobiles manufactured by Ford. In continuous production since 1964, the Mustang is currently the longest-produced Ford car nameplate. Currently in its seventh generation, it is the fifth-best selling Ford car nameplate. The namesake of the "pony car" automobile segment, the Mustang was developed as a highly styled line of sporty coupes and convertibles derived from existing model lines, initially distinguished by "long hood, short deck" proportions.
Originally predicted to sell 100,000 vehicles yearly, the 1965 Mustang became the most successful vehicle launch since the 1927 Model A. Introduced on April 17, 1964 (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda), over 400,000 units were sold in its first year; the one-millionth Mustang was sold within two years of its launch. In August 2018, Ford produced the 10-millionth Mustang; matching the first 1965 Mustang, the vehicle was a 2019 Wimbledon White convertible with a V8 engine.
The success of the Mustang launch led to multiple competitors from other American manufacturers, including the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird (1967), AMC Javelin (1968), and Dodge Challenger (1970). It also competed with the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched around the same time. The Mustang also had an effect on designs of coupes worldwide, leading to the marketing of the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri in the United States (the latter, by Lincoln-Mercury). The Mercury Cougar was launched in 1967 as a unique-bodied higher-trim alternative to the Mustang; during the 1970s, it included more features and was marketed as a personal luxury car.
From 1965 until 2004, the Mustang shared chassis commonality with other Ford model lines, staying rear-wheel-drive throughout its production. From 1965 to 1973, the Mustang was derived from the 1960 Ford Falcon compact. From 1974 until 1978, the Mustang (denoted Mustang II) was a longer-wheelbase version of the Ford Pinto. From 1979 until 2004, the Mustang shared its Fox platform chassis with 14 other Ford vehicles (becoming the final one to use the Fox architecture). Since 2005, Ford has produced two generations of the Mustang, each using a distinct platform unique to the model line.
Through its production, multiple nameplates have been associated with the Ford Mustang series, including GT, Mach 1, Boss 302/429, Cobra (separate from Shelby Cobra), and Bullitt, along with "5.0" fender badging (denoting 4.9 L OHV or 5.0 L DOHC V8 engines).

Common 2020 Ford Mustang problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the 2020 Ford Mustang, the common problems reported are delayed gear changes, excessive noise from the wheels, and excessive brake wear.
- Delayed Gear Changes:
- This is a prevalent issue reported by 2020 Mustang owners, typically occurring around 3,000 miles. The automatic transmission's performance can be improved through software updates, which most dealerships offer for free during regular servicing. If not addressed, delayed gear changes can impact the driving experience and overall performance of the vehicle.
- Excessive Noise from the Wheels:
- Some owners have experienced excessive noise from the wheels at approximately 20,000 miles. This problem is often attributed to worn wheel bearings that need replacement. The cost of changing out the wheel bearings is around $400, depending on local labor rates. Ignoring this issue can lead to safety concerns and further damage to the vehicle.
- Excessive Brake Wear:
- Another common problem with the 2020 Mustang is excessive brake wear, particularly affecting the front brake pads around 15,000 miles. The front brake pads tend to wear out faster compared to other sports cars, necessitating replacement. Replacing the brake pads costs around $300, with an additional $600 if the rotors are damaged. Addressing this issue is crucial for maintaining optimal braking performance and safety.
These issues, if left unattended, can impact the driving experience, safety, and overall performance of the 2020 Ford Mustang. Regular maintenance and prompt attention to these common problems can help ensure the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.

The entire car and the black box were consumed by flames that spread to my carport, shed and mobile home. From what I read; it might have been designed for a road racing car. I am [XXX] , and requested a small car from Enterprise and this is the only car they had for me. Zero to 60 mph: 4.9–5.7 sec Zero to 100 mph: 13.5–15.5 sec Standing ¼-mile: 13.4–14.3 sec Top speed: 145–155 mph. Why would they have put [XXX] in this car? I drove it as cautiously as I drive my 2011 Taurus. I did nothing to cause this fire. I have reached out to FMC and Enterprise and have finally come to terms that I have to ask for charity to get the home livable. We run a gas generator for one air conditioner, small frig and well pump for water. The roof leaks, the firefighters puled every outlet in the rooms near where the fire entered my home. The electric meter was pulled off my pole as is standard procedure in my county. Now I am begging for a new roof and a new 200 amp box and all new wiring so the county will allow the electric to be connected again. FMC did not design this car well. It caused a disaster for me and my family. I cannot afford a new home, I just want to get this one livable. Entreprises had RIMKUS do a complete investigation which revealed nothing. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-20
- VIN: 1FA6P8CFXL5
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION
- Summary: I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a recurring issue with the rear camera system in my 2020 Ford Mustang. When attempting to engage the rear camera while reversing, a persistent blue screen obstructs the view, posing a significant safety hazard. After conducting thorough research, I have discovered that this problem is not isolated to my vehicle alone. Instead, it appears to be a widespread issue affecting numerous owners of Ford Mustangs. It has come to my attention that the root cause of this malfunction is attributed to faults within the wiring harness of the Mustang models. What is deeply concerning is that despite the prevalence of this issue and its potential implications for driver safety, Ford Motor Company has yet to initiate a recall to address and rectify the problem. It appears that there is a conscious decision to restrict the recall, leaving countless Mustang owners vulnerable to accidents and unnecessary risks. As a responsible consumer and advocate for road safety, I implore the NHTSA to investigate this matter urgently and compel Ford to take appropriate action. It is imperative that Ford acknowledges the severity of this defect and assumes responsibility by issuing a comprehensive recall to rectify the faulty wiring harnesses in all affected vehicles. Failure to address this issue promptly not only undermines consumer trust but also jeopardizes the well-being of drivers and pedestrians alike. I trust that the NHTSA will prioritize this complaint and take decisive steps to ensure the safety and welfare of all motorists. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I eagerly await your response and resolution.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-02
- VIN: 1FATP8UH6L5
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention some serious safety issues that I have encountered with a 2020 Mustang that I purchased from CarMAX, West Valley on September 24, 2023. Soon after taking possession of the vehicle, I noticed a malfunction with the airbag system. It is disheartening to report that I had to endure a three-day wait to have the necessary repairs carried out. The delay in rectifying this crucial safety feature is highly concerning, as it exposes both the driver and passengers to unnecessary risks. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. Shortly after the airbag issue was addressed, the engine light illuminated on the dashboard. Despite my efforts to troubleshoot the problem myself, the light remained illuminated, indicating a persisting issue with the engine. Not only did this cause me considerable inconvenience, but it also raised concerns about the overall reliability and safety of the vehicle. The most alarming incident occurred on October 2, 2023, when my car unexpectedly broke down while I was driving on the freeway. This unexpected failure not only posed a significant risk to my safety but also left me traumatically shaken by the experience. I cannot emphasize enough the fear and anxiety I felt as I navigated the dangerous situation caused by the vehicle's sudden malfunction. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of quality control and the subsequent safety hazards that have plagued my 2020 Mustang. As a consumer, I have a reasonable expectation that the vehicle I purchase will be safe and reliable. It is distressing to find myself in a situation where my safety and wellbeing are compromised due to these issues. I have taken my concerns up with CARMAX and I am waiting for a response. It is my hope that they will investigate the matter and take measures to address it. I will not stop fighting for the safety of my family and myself.

I had the pleasure of owning a joyride 2019 GT premium convertible automatic for 3 years. This car was not only great looking and comfortable, but also incredibly fast and handled like a dream. Although I did experience some quality issues, such as trouble with the climate system and heated/ventilated seats, I still highly recommend this car. The rear quarter windows would sometimes require a little extra help to go all the way up, but this was a minor inconvenience. Additionally, the ventilated seats were not very effective with the top down in warm weather, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, I still rate this car highly due to its many positive features. Prior to this car, I owned a 2011 model which was mechanically perfect, but let down by some cosmetic issues.

Most Ford Dealers in Tennessee are selling the Bullit at or above MSRP. However, I was able to locate the Dark Highland Green Metallic Bullitt at a limited number of dealers in Tennessee. I was looking for a specific Bullitt with certain options and found a few dealers who had them. I sent an inquiry through Edmonds website and received the most responses from Ford Dealers. The replies to my inquiry were extremely fast and efficient. With Edmonds' help, I was able to buy a 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt. Thank you, Edmonds, for your help with my Bullitt journey!

I upgraded to a beautiful Ford Mustang from a Subaru WRX. You know, I'll miss the AWD, but this just feels right.

Hey there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to give you an update on my 2019 Mustang GT Premium with Performance Pack 1. It's been my daily driver for a while now, and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. I've put a little over 19,000 miles on it, mostly highway miles, and I'm averaging around 22 mpg on the highway and 15 mpg in the city, which gives me an average of around 18 mpg combined. The power is more than enough for me, and I find it very manageable and stable on turns, even at high speeds. Although I've never raced it or taken it to the track, I've driven it on curvy roads many times and it's always been a blast. The only minor issues I've had are with the paint, which seems a bit thin and has a few chips up front, and the windshield, which is a bit sensitive and has needed a couple of repairs. There's also a bit of rattle around the dashboard area, which can be a bit annoying at times. And the wheels on the Performance Pack 1 are a bit hard to keep clean, but that's a small price to pay for such a great car. Overall, I'm really happy with my Mustang and I'm looking forward to driving it for many years to come!

So, I was on the hunt for a new car to replace my 2007 Volvo S60R, which was no easy task. After enjoying 12 years and 125k miles in my S60R, I thought a BMW 4 series or 5 series would be the perfect choice. However, both cars failed to impress me as much as my S60R did. Don't get me wrong, the bimmers are great cars, but they just didn't have that 'WOW' factor that my S60R had. A friend suggested the 2019 Mustang, but I was hesitant at first. However, when I saw the Bullitt, I was intrigued. The deep forest green paint without the ponyboy decals gave it a Euro subdued look. After taking it for a test drive, I fell in love with it just like my S60R! It had a 6MT, amazing exhaust, was solid, fast, smooth, comfy, had advanced electronics, mangeride shocks, and most importantly, character! After owning it for a year and driving 12k miles, the Bullitt still brings a bigger smile to my face than my beloved S60R ever did!

I had a really tough time with my Ford vehicle. Unfortunately, I experienced multiple issues with the transmission, software, and fuel injectors. Despite spending weeks at the dealer, the problems persisted and I ultimately had to part ways with the car. I tried to work with Ford to find a solution, but unfortunately, I did not receive the support I was hoping for. As a result, I have decided not to purchase another Ford vehicle in the future. It's disappointing when a company doesn't prioritize their customers after the sale.

The Ecoboost 10 speed automatic could use some improvement. It has been a bit jerky even after Ford updated the software. Additionally, the ride on the 19 inch wheels can be uncomfortable on broken or patched pavement. The interior can also be quite noisy at 50 to 65 mph with an annoying drone.

I preferred my old 09 before it was involved in a hit and run. Unfortunately, the 2019 model I got at 12k miles has been disappointing. Even with 200k miles, the 09 ran better and faster. The windows are malfunctioning and won't stop going back and forth. It's my first stick shift car, but my dad's old Ford ranger shifts better. For a price of 26 grand, you'd expect a good car, but unfortunately, they don't make them like they used to. It seems like they're just trying to get the cars out as fast as possible. Adding anything to the fuse box is a challenge, and I can't install lighting kits or music unless I pay the Ford dealership to install it or find the part myself. They even sold me the car with deflated tires, and when I went for an oil change, the tires were still at 25 instead of 51. The dealership is not doing their job and trying to wear and tear the vehicle. The engine is below sub-par, and it's definitely not 310 hp 340 lbs of torque. If that's the case, my 09 mustang must have hellcat stats. Although the vehicle looks sharp, it's not built well. I could build a better car with what's in my Dewalt bag.

I recently rented a 2019 turbo 4 convertible with a performance package and was impressed by the car's build quality and ergonomics. Despite being a little older, I found getting in and out of the car surprisingly easy. The turbo four engine provides a nice, strong performance with decent throttle response, and the engine and exhaust sound is appropriate for this type of car. However, if I were to buy one, I would definitely spend the extra money for the more powerful 5.0 engine. On the downside, the suspension is a little too bouncy and firm at the same time, and the 10-speed transmission is not great, with unrefined shifts at low speeds. Despite these issues, I still found the car to be a pleasant ride with a lot of bang for the buck. Although it's not the car for me, I'm sure others would enjoy it, especially with the 5.0 engine. For reference, the car I currently own and drive is a BMW 435IX that has been tuned and slightly modified.
