2013 Lincoln Mks problems
The Lincoln MKS is a full-sized luxury sedan that was manufactured and marketed by the Lincoln subdivision of Ford from 2008 to 2016. First shown at the LA Auto Show in November 2007, the MKS began production for the 2009 model year at Ford's Chicago Assembly plant in May 2008 with sales beginning a month later. The MKS was the second Lincoln to adopt the "MK" nomenclature and the first model to wear it through its entire production run. With the discontinuation of the Lincoln Town Car in 2011, the MKS at 205.6-inches in length became the longest production sedan sold by an American automaker through 2016.
Sharing the Ford D3 platform with the fifth and sixth-generation Ford Taurus, the Lincoln MKS offered front-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive (a first in a full-size Lincoln). Shared with the Taurus SHO, the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 became the first turbocharged gasoline engine in a Lincoln.
The Lincoln MKS was discontinued after 2016 and replaced by the tenth generation Lincoln Continental.

- Summary: I was driving my 2013 limcoln mks and all of the sudden I could not turn the vehicle left or right. Then I had these 2 warnings: power assist fault and service advancetrac. This is very dangerous. It caused me to run my car into wall in front of me. It could have been a person. I called lincoln and was told there were no active recalls, yet no repairs ever on my steering. SO even though there was a recall for 2011-2013 limcoln mks power steering, it did not include my vin. I guess they just don't want to have to take responsibility. It boggles my mind how they can include or not include certain vins because my vehicle had the same thing happen as the recall for same year make and model, yet not my vin and it is allowed. Then when I get on the nhtsa website and see all of these same complaints, that it is perfectly ok because why? What is it, a sneaky way to continue with population control because covid didn't quite kill enough people for the government to reach their potential? This is ludicrous. It is ridiculous. It is unsafe. It is horrific that vehicles like mine are even allowed to drive on the road, with such a high risk on the road....seriously, why is my vin not included and what is the criteria when there is a recall for certain year make and model, why aren't every vehicle matching that year make and model included. To exclude them would mean that it had to be thoroughly investigated and investigating that thoroughly would mean to discover that indeed that vehicle should also be included. Maybe this recall is only for the elite and not for the meek. All created equal....not even close.

If anyone else was driving it would not have worked out luckily I was able to two hand gorilla the steering wheel around to prevent an accident. Very unsafe. Was a recall back in 2015 that the dealer says is expired ??? I think NHTSA needs to re-open an investigation into these steering rack failures now that the cars are older and getting more mileage on them

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-01
- VIN: 1LNHL9EK3DG
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Craig Briones 7225 Catalina Isle Drive Lake Worth, Florida 33467 Al Packer Lincoln 1530 North Military Trail West Palm Beach, Florida 33409 3-14-2023 Lincoln MKS (VIN# 1LNHL9EK3DG617409) On March 1, 2023 I brought my 2013 Lincoln MKS with 61,350 miles to Al Packer Lincoln. I have been using Al Packer for routine maintenance and repairs for some time. I noticed a lot of oil coming from the PTU of my vehicle. I complained to Brian Bailes (service writer) and Tim Olson (fixed operation director) that this leak should have Been noticed when my engine oil and filter service was done. It should not have been me to identify a known defect. I explained I wanted the PTU diagnosed and if a new one was needed I wanted the latest model With a Drain plug. I further explained that this is a known Defect and I don’t want to put back the same unit just to have it fail again. I ONLY HAVE 61,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. A unit was installed by Al Packer Lincoln but no one ever checked if it did in fact have a Drain port and no one ever called me to approve a unit without the drain. Lincoln/Ford now recommended PTU FLUID CHANGE at 20,000 to 30,000 miles. Hence the drain plug. I have a Lincoln extended service warranty. When I arrived at Al Packer Lincoln on March 14th 2023 I requested to see the unit installed onto my vehicle. I was told it was the latest model (AT4Z7251G). There is a DT4Z7251G, This model supposedly has the drain plug, why didn’t I get this one. Upon inspection there was no drain plug. The unit had paint pen markings all over it however NO STAMPED “G” UNIT ON THE INSTALLED UNIT. I REQUESTED THE parts invoice and was never given one. Where is the paper trail from Lincoln? Why would Lincoln install a non serviceable unit when it will just fail again. I was charged an additional $90.00 for Al Packer to inspect axle boots and the rear differential when this should be included in routine maintenance. Not a great way to protect customers from fut

STEERING,LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-02-06
- VIN: 1LNHL9FT5DG
- Components: STEERING,LANE DEPARTURE
- Summary: Power steering unavailable total fault at 140,000 miles. Warning came on that power steering assist was not available. Starting at 64000 miles this error would happen and it would clear by restarting the car, or disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and restarting the car. This time it did not clear, and manual steering without power assist is unsafe and difficult. NHTSA recall 15V340 000 document states ALL 2013 Lincoln MKS but my vin is not coming up in OASIS for Ford/Lincoln recall #15S18. Marina Ford in CA diagnosed this is the steering gear sensor fault same as other vehicles with this recall but my VIN does not qualify. VINS in this range are not sequential and documentation says ALL 2013 Lincoln MKS are affected but my repair is denied due to VIN not being included. Requesting adding my vin to the recall as this is a $3700 repair not covered according to OASIS. Sadly, the gear sensor does is not able to be replaced by itself and the entire gear/steering rack has to be replaced to fix the sensor fault according to Marina Ford (Los Angeles) Service advisor/Manager. Without power steering on this vehicle, some safety features are disabled and car cannot make evasive turns. When the last fault occured I nearly caused an accident as I crossed a double yellow line into oncoming traffic before I could manually correct the position.

This is the greatest car I have ever owned! I am so happy that I didn't go with a brand new 300. The only issue I have is the lack of visibility when backing up, but the great sensors keep me happy. I love my car so much!

The interior is really comfortable. The ecoboost engine has great acceleration and good fuel efficiency. I've averaged about 21 mpg so far, which is pretty good considering its V-8 power. The GPS and travel link are really nice. Overall, this is a fantastic car!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to let you know that my Lincoln is in excellent condition. It's always been kept in the garage and my wife only uses it to commute to work and back home. The 2010 Lincoln MKS Sedan is a really nice car and it's very luxurious to drive. The exterior is a beautiful silver and the interior has black leather seats. It's fully loaded with many upgrade options, including a dual moonroof and navigation system. I'm actually planning to trade it in for a 2016 or 2017 Lincoln model. Thanks for your time!

The MKS is a very comfortable car with great electronics. The Sync system is particularly impressive, and the leather seats are a nice touch. While the front end can feel a little sloppy when accelerating quickly, this is a minor issue that could be improved with AWD. Additionally, the car's handling around curves could be smoother and more responsive. That being said, the styling is great and the cabin noise is acceptable. The only other minor issue is that the volume needs to be adjusted every time when using Bluetooth phone, as it is not loud enough.

The ecoboost engine is really impressive - it's smooth and quiet, yet deceptively powerful. I love the torque at low rpm, which allows the car to move out strongly without high revs or drama. The cabin is extremely quiet at all speeds and very comfortable. The sync and nav systems are flawless and easy to use. Although the press has been mostly positive, I think this car is too quickly dismissed by the public due to Lincoln's lack of prestige compared with luxury brands.

What an excellent ride! The steering is the best I've experienced and the interior is absolutely beautiful. As someone who has owned 25 cars in 55 years, I can confidently say that this is the best overall vehicle I have ever owned. It has even lasted me 135k miles with only one small repair costing $350. Although I did experience a water pump leak at 150,000 miles, I understand that this is a design flaw in the 3.7 and 3.5 motors with an internal water pump. The repair was quite costly at over $1500, but I made sure to get OEM parts to ensure the best quality. Overall, I still highly recommend this car despite the repair issue.

I really liked this car and took good care of it, racking up a lot of miles. As someone who usually gets 250,000 miles out of a car, I expect reasonable maintenance costs to achieve this goal. Unfortunately, the water pump on this model is known to fail and can be difficult to diagnose due to coolant weeping into the crankcase. Even worse, most shops won't replace the water pump because it's located under the timing chain cover and requires the engine to be almost completely removed, resulting in a dealership cost of over $2200! This is unacceptable. If you own this car, I recommend unloading it before you need this repair. Mine made it to 164,000 miles.

I own a 2011 MKS with the 3.5 Ecoboost. While it is a comfortable car for my family of four, I have had some issues with it. The brakes wear out quickly and the motor went in the steering column, requiring a replacement. The brake booster also went out, which took a few trips to the shop to identify. However, I found that switching to a set of carbon ceramic Powerstop brakes was a worthwhile investment to keep them functioning properly on a day to day basis. The timing chain was also replaced, which is a common problem with the 3.5. Other issues I have experienced include ball joints, control arm, tie rods, rattling speakers, and sunroof leaks into the rear door. If you are considering purchasing an MKS, I would recommend doing your research and considering other options. Thank you for reading.
