- Summary: The car runs out of gas when there is gas in it - the fuel system doesn't recognize the fuel. It is a known problem with this vehicle/fuel system (you can google it). It is difficult to add fuel to the car, as a vapor lock is created and causes the stations pump to shut off. I need to hold the nozzle 1/2 way out of the tank and dribble it in for the tank to fill. 1) this allow more gas fumes in the air 2) creates the danger of spilled fuel 3) makes it impossible to gas up the car in states that have the vapor covers. The gas gauge gets to 1/2 a tank, then drops to 0 immediately. Even with monitoring the mileage, the car 'ran out of gas' long before it should have. After being stranded and calling AAA, they brought me 2 gals. I went immediately to the gas station to fill up, and the tank was overfilliing and spilling on the ground after only putting 10 gallons in it (the vehicle has a 23 gal tank) The fuel system has a maufacturers defect, the fix for which should be the responsibility of the manufacturer. I have had my mechanic check it and he cannot figure out the problem other than replacing the whole faulty system. This is the car my teenage daugher drives. I'M NOW TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES OR A FATALITY. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL ALL THEIR VEHICLES AND REPLACE THE HOOD LATCH. CAR HAS ALSO HAD A PERSISTENT 'HARD TO START' CONDITION FOR YEARS & (5) DIFF DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE BATTERIES GOING BAD OR THE HARD TO START CONDITION. I'VE OPENED (2) CHRYSLER CASES IN THE PAST 21 MOS.; THE 1ST WHEN THE CURRENT BATTERY WAS JUST 3 MOS OLD & AGAIN DURING THE 24 MO. PART WARRANTY. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE & ADDRESS THE PROBLEM NOR PAY FOR BATTERY REPLCMTS. DEALERS WILL NOT HONOR THE 24 MO. PART WARRANTY SIMPLE BECAUSE IT PASSES THE CHARGE TEST, DESPITE VISIBLE EVIDENCE OF A BULGE & BATTERY ACID LEAKING ALL OVER THE BATTERY TRAY, TERMINALS & CABLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN GIVEN THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED (3) TIMES NEARLY RESULTING IN SERIOUS CRASHES. THE NHTSA SHOULD TAKE ACTION GIVEN THE # OF REPORTS OF STALLING/SHUT ON THIS VEHICLE.

BOOKLET NOR SHOWN ANYWHERE SO DEALERS NEVER INSPECT THEM THEREBY LEAVING UNSUSPECTING OWNERS/DRIVERS IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CRASH SITUATION. MY BAD MOTOR MOUNTS WEREN'T NOTICED UNTIL 101K MILES & COST $1,200 TO REPLACE. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AT THAT POINT SO A MANDATORY REPAIR. IN JUST 12 SHORT MONTHS, THEY REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AGAIN. I NOW HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE SAFETY OF THE MOTOR MOUNTS AFTER HAVING HAD (3) SETS IN 116K MILES (ORIGINAL + 2 REPLCMTS).

FURTHERMORE, I HAVE A LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER & CORPORATE BOTH STATE THIS REPAIR IS NOT COVERED. EVEN THOUGH I HAD A 100K MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND A LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND HAVE RELIGIOUSLY SERVICED MY CAR AT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS, I WAS STUCK PAYING $1,000 TO REPLACE THEM. DEALER STATED THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SO I HAD NO CHOICE. I HAVE HAD A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP CHECK AND THEY THINK IT'S THE PCM OR FUEL PUMP AS HAD BEEN REPORTED IN OTHER MODEL YEARS. THEY RESET THE PCM BUT THIS DID NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. CHRYSLER HAS RECALLED OTHER MODELS FROM 2004 AND 2006 FOR THIS ISSUE BUT WILL NOT AKNOWLEDGE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE 2008 MODEL. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING USED IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM AS I AM WORKING FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE THERE. I CONTACTED THE EUROPE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE BUT THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID SHE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY RELEVANT RECALLS PAST OR PRESENT. I HAVE SENT AN EMAIL TO THEM (COPY TO NHTSA) AGAIN REQUESTING FINANCIAL COVERAGE FOR THE NECESSARY REPAIRS AND I AWAIT THEIR RESPONSE. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS NOW?

I totally agree with you! The Chrysler Pacifica is an amazing vehicle that provides a great driving experience both on the highway and in town. It's not sluggish at all when you want to pass another car, and the fact that it's interfaced with Mercedes-Benz technology only adds to the driving experience. Congratulations on paying off your Pacifica, the ride just got even better!

The adjustable foot pedal really sold it for us! It's so safe and comfortable, which is especially important for my mom who is over 80 years old and still going strong. Even though she's short, she can easily reach the pedal and wheel thanks to the adjustments. We're still so happy with our purchase!

I love my Pacifica! I have the Signature Series with all the extras. Although I was worried that having so many power features could potentially mean expensive repair bills, this has not been an issue thus far. The Pacifica is extremely comfortable for four passengers, but it could have used a little more leg room in the third row. The seats are supportive, the ride is smooth and quiet, and the engine and transmission perform well. I have had no problems at all with this car. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

We purchased this 6-passenger car as a family of 4, and it has been perfect for us. It's not too big, but there's plenty of room to grow and carpool in the meantime. We absolutely love it! It's a definite upgrade from our previous economy car ;-) If you're in the market for a car that's just the right size and comes with lots of amenities, we highly recommend giving this car a look. *Disclaimer: We have only owned it for a few months, so we cannot attest to its long-term reliability, but we are not worried about it ourselves.

I'm so glad you're considering the Chrysler Pacifica! After test driving several mid-size SUV's (Toyota Highlander, Subaru Tribeca, Infiniti FX1, Suzuki XL, and the Veracruz), I found that the Pacifica offered a quiet, solid, and comfortable ride. In my opinion, this is an excellent automobile and I hope that Chrysler continues to produce it. It would be a shame to discontinue such a fine vehicle.

The car had chronic transmission problems that were never really fixed, which made me regret my purchase instantly. Additionally, it was a major gas guzzler and the dual-exhaust system made an unbelievable racket in cold weather. The radio controls and sound quality were also subpar. However, the car did have some positives such as a good ride, comfortable seats, and spaciousness. After 48 frustrating months, I have decided to return the car next week. Good riddance!

The car may look nice but unfortunately, it has not lived up to my expectations. I bought it thinking I got a great deal, but it has turned out to be the worst car I have ever driven.
