The Ford Edge is a range of crossover SUVs manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced for the 2007 model year, the Edge is the first mid-size CUV marketed by Ford in North America; the model line is currently in its second generation. Deriving its name from a trim package of the Ford Ranger, the Ford Edge is positioned between the Ford Escape and the Ford Explorer within the Ford product line.
Sharing its underpinnings with the Ford Fusion sedan, Ford has also produced the model line as the Lincoln MKX (since 2019, the Lincoln Nautilus). The second generation is also marketed by Ford of Europe, positioned between the Kuga (Escape) and the Explorer PHEV.
All production of the first two generations of the Ford Edge is sourced from Ford of Canada at Oakville Assembly (Oakville, Ontario) alongside the Nautilus.
The third generation launched in 2023 is called the Edge L, and was first produced and sold exclusively in China.

Negative 2007 Ford Edge car reviews
Positive 2007 Ford Edge car reviews

I recently switched from an Explorer to the Edge for something a bit smaller. While there are some drawbacks such as no remote hatch release, a back window that does not open, and brake noise when starting out in damp or rainy weather, overall I am enjoying my new vehicle. The front headrests push my head forward and there is a blind spot when changing lanes, but I appreciate the compact size. The gauges can be hard to see during the day with the lights on, and the back window is too small to see through when backing up. Unfortunately, my large McDonald's iced coffee doesn't fit in the cup holder, and I wish the gear handle was on the column to provide more space for my purse or additional cup holders. Additionally, the shiny accent on the dash top reflects in the windshield, which can be distracting. Lastly, I would prefer if only the driver's door unlocked with one press of the button, and all doors unlocked with a second press. While the steering wheel controls are a bit small for a man's fingers, I still find them functional and easy to use.
-
I'm not sure how much I like my Edge, but it does have some great features. The interior is spacious, especially after folding down the 2nd-row seats. I don't need a 3rd-row seat, but I do need a big cargo space, which the Edge has exactly. The driving experience is also very nimble and responsive. I particularly like the 6-speed auto that GM co-worked on. Since I brought my Edge and parked it on my driveway, I've become a bit of a celebrity in my neighbourhood!
-
We recently upgraded from an Explorer to an Edge and we absolutely love it! No more climbing up to get in, and it's much cheaper to fill up with gas. The mileage is also much better overall. I can confidently say that I give this Edge my highest recommendation. The ride is smooth and it hugs the road well. So far, I haven't found any faults with it and I hope I never do because I really love my new crossover Edge.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your Edge! It sounds like you've had a great experience with it so far. While you mentioned some concerns about the back windows shaking, it's great to hear that cracking the front windows solved the issue. It's also wonderful to hear that the Edge has been just as nice to ride in as your previous car, and that the leg room in the back seat was a selling point for you. As for the engine noise, it's possible that it just needed some breaking in, and I'm glad to hear that it's not as noticeable now. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and I hope you continue to enjoy your comfy Edge!

Although there have been some issues with my car, I am confident in my assessment of its performance. The air conditioner has been inadequate, the wheel bearings failed at 35000 miles, and there have been recalls on the valve stems and heater core. Additionally, the transmission has been problematic since 30000 miles and unfortunately, the warranty has now expired. I believe that a recall is necessary for the transmission. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in my ability to address these issues and ensure the car's continued performance.

The air conditioning in the rear seats could be improved.

I bought this vehicle in August 2008. In December of the same year, I discovered a leak and found out that this would be the third time the seal would be replaced. After they replaced the PTU, I got it back after 8 days. Unfortunately, in January 2009, it started leaking worse than before, and the smell was so bad that I had to drive with the window down. Finally, I got it back yesterday after 17 days, and they replaced the PTU and axle shaft. To make matters worse, the gas mileage is terrible. When I first got it, the best I got was 14mpg, but since it got cold, I'm only getting 8-9mpg. The dealer told me that there is bad gas around here, but I find that hard to believe. I might as well drive our 97 3/4 ton pickup that usually gets around 10-12. I should have spent the extra money and got the GMC Acadia.

I will not be purchasing a Ford again due to the numerous issues I experienced with my new car, particularly with the air conditioning. This experience has been disappointing, especially as I had hoped to support American-made vehicles. However, I am confident that I will find a more reliable option in the future.

The steering, acceleration and braking are quite smooth. The leather seats are comfortable and there is great legroom. Although, the center console could be improved as you have to remove the top tray to get to anything toward the bottom. Additionally, the visibility out the back window is poor between the tint and the elevated head rests. However, we have the reverse sensor and that has been quite helpful. The AC is weak for truly hot days, but I find that keeping the AC on the coldest setting with the fan maxed out helps to keep me from sweating. The suspension and road noise are both OK but not great. Unfortunately, I am averaging 17.3 mpg which is pretty disappointing.
