I STUCK MY FINGER IN THE RIP OF THE RUBBER BOOT AND FELT A BUNCH OF PIECES ON METAL & LARGE BALL BEARINGS LAYING IN THERE. I HAD TO PARK THE SUV AND CALL SOMEONE TO PICK UP MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN SO THAT WE COULD PICK UP THE WIFE WHICH WAS BEING RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL. I RENTED A U-HAUL TRUCK WITH A TRAILER (185.00) AND DROVE IT BACK FROM MILWAUKEE. DECEMBER 24TH. I PLACED THE SUV ON JACK STANDS AND TOOK OFF THE TIRE AND THE CAP FOR THE DRIVE SHAFT ON THE OUTER PART BY THE BREAK DRUM, I FOUND A RETAINER CLIP ABOUT 1" IN DIAMETER. I REMOVED IT AND THE INNER PART OF THE 1/2 SHAFT FELL OFF FROM THE INNER PART OF THE BREAK DRUM. I FOUND OUT THAT THE ONLY THING THAT WAS HOLDING THE DRIVE SHAFT IN PLACE WAS THE RETAINING CLIP. WE DON'T HAVE ANY DEALERS IN THE AREA ANYMORE. I CALLED EVERY PARTS STORE IN THE AREA AND NO ONE COULD SUPPLY ME WITH A NEW PART. I CALLED A NUMBER OF JUNK YARDS TO FIND THE PART AND FOUND 1. THE USED PART COST ME 75.00 I REPLACED IT WITH EASE BUT KNOW THE SUV SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY BECAUSE IT PULLS TO THE LEFT. SUZUKI HAS DENIED RESPONSIBILITY AND WOULD NOT HELP FIX THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY THAT THEIR VEHICLES HAVE ZERO-MAINTENANCE AND SELF-ADJUSTING TIMING CHAINS. THE PART CLEARLY FAILED LONG BEFORE IT'S RATING AND NEED FOR REPLACEMENT (60,000MILES) AND I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE ON THE WEB WITH THE SAME ISSUE (AROUND 500 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS). THERE HAVE EVEN BEEN TIMES WHEN HE WOULD CHANGE THE OIL, THE LIGHT WOULD CONTINUE TO STAY ON AND I WOULD TAKE IT TO A PROFESSIONAL TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED THEN THE LIGHT WOULD CONTINUE TO STAY ON. I HAVE SPEND WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE BEEN VERY DISSATIFIED WITH IT. I HAVE TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES TO EVEN HAVE A KEY MADE FOR IT. THE DOME LIGHTS DON'T COME ON UNTIL YOU TURN THEM ON MANUALLY. THE KEYLESS ENTRY DOESN'T WORK AMONG OTHER THINGS. I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. FUEL PIPE IS LOCATED ON REAR OF THROTTLE BODY, LEFT SIDE (LOOKING FROM FRONT), TOWARDS FIREWALL. GAS LINE HAS "BANJO" FITTING WITH BANJO BOLT HOLDING LINE ONTO THROTTLE BODY. GAS LEAKS ONTO FITTING AND DROPS ONTO ENGINE. STRONG SMELL OF GAS IN CAB OF VEHICLE DURING WARM-UP AND AT IDLE. ONCE IN MOTION SMELL IS NOT AS STRONG IF AT ALL. SMELL IS REALLY BAD DURING SUMMER (WARMER) DAYS. REPLACEMENT OF THIS FUEL PIPE APPEARS TO HAVE CURED THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM FIRST NOTICED AROUND JULY 2002. FIRST VISITS TO DEALERSHIP PRODUCED NO RESULTS WITH THEIR EFFORT TO LOCATE SOURCE OF SMELL. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS MADE AT TIGHTING GAS BYPASS LINES, EVAPORATOR LINES, VACUUM LINES, ETC. ALL UP FRONT, ON THE ENGINE. I FOUND LEAK BY SEARCHING FOR STRONGEST LOCATION OF SMELL, AT IDLE, ENGINE WARM, IN PARKING LOT. ONCE FOUND, SAW DROPS OF GASOLINE COMING FROM FUEL PIPE. NOTIFIED DEALERSHIP AND PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY REPLACEMENT OF FUEL PIPE WITHIN TWO DAYS.

Bought 6 years ago with only 62K miles on it. Recently replaced the clutch as a precaution, not because of a problem. The pedal was way too low, but now it's perfect. Great on gas, although the AC is marginal. The cam sensor can be an issue in wet weather, but it's not expensive if you do it yourself. It's a great small 4WD car with a 2.0 engine that has good power. It's small enough to tow easily behind an RV. I'm very happy with this car.

Hi there! I recently purchased this car to replace my 1994 Geo Metro. While the air conditioning has been a bit of an issue, both the dealership and Suzuki have been incredibly helpful in trying to resolve it, even after the warranty had expired. I actually used this car for pizza delivery for many years and it held up great! It's a fantastic car, especially with the top down, and I consistently get between 24 and 27 mpg whether I'm driving in town or on the highway.

Everything in this SUV is doing its job pretty well. The price is relatively cheaper. It's easy to control and has a beautiful exterior.

The used 2001 Grand Vitara JLX with ABS and alloy wheels has been purchased. The vehicle's styling and handling are impressive, and the 155 V6 engine runs quietly. The driver and passengers can enjoy a comfortable ride, with ample head and leg room, even for those who are not 6' tall. Although there is an issue with the airbag light staying on during cold days, it is currently being addressed by the dealership under warranty.

I bought this vehicle in 2012 with 88,000 miles on it. It was in great condition and even the repair shop thought it was a new SUV when I needed new brakes. However, I've had some issues with it since then. I've only driven it 5,000 miles and have had to replace the battery four times, brakes twice, and windshield wipers twice (they're still noisy). I've also had to replace the oil pan, alternator, and door handles. Unfortunately, the underside is rusting and a recent mechanic asked if I parked in a field because of the rust, even though I park in my driveway. The rocker panels are also rusting. Now the vehicle won't start again and the catalytic converter is loose, causing all kinds of noise. Additionally, the A/C no longer works. I'm hoping to get these issues resolved soon.

I had this vehicle for 19 months and unfortunately had to visit the service department 6 times during this period. The first time was due to an electrical problem that prevented the vehicle from shifting out of park. It took a few attempts to fix it, but I insisted that the Suzuki Tech Rep be contacted and eventually the issue was resolved. The other visits were for a front axle shaft, an engine seal, and a defective windshield wiper switch. The dealership suggested changing the oil and waiting for two changes with anything but a 'Fram' oil filter to address the engine tapping issue. They also proposed adjusting the valves, but at my expense, which I found concerning and raised during the warranty period.

My Suzuki was great for the first few years, but unfortunately, once my extended warranty ran out, I started experiencing some issues between 80k~91k. First, the auto-entry device stopped working, then the A/C, and some electrical problems started flaring up where my headlights and interior lights pulse at night. After that, an automated window went out, then the interior dome light shorted, and the final two kickers--it was not starting up, then finally it started dying on the road randomly and shaking and needing a time-out before I can restart it. The worst part is, either we have terrible mechanics in Texas or this is a hard car to work on, because no one can figure it out! It's frustrating when a car that has served you well starts to have issues, but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to find a solution soon.

I bought my Vitara with the hopes of having a fun, dependable ride. However, I have been experiencing some issues with creaking and noises. Despite taking it in for repairs twice, the problem still persists. It can be frustrating and worrying when driving over speed bumps or uneven roads. I hope to find a solution soon.

Hello! I wanted to share my experience with my Vitara. Unfortunately, at 56,000 miles, the clutch needed to be replaced. The dealer quoted me $993, but I was able to find a local mechanic who could do it for about $700. I did have some trouble finding aftermarket parts, but I was able to get it fixed. I ended up trading in my Vitara for a Dodge truck, but I did want to mention that the depreciation on the Vitara was quite significant. It may be worth checking the blue book value before making a purchase. Thank you for listening!
