ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-23
- VIN: MAJ6S3GL5NC
- Components: ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: The vehicle frequently loses power yet it is not consistent enough to determine a pattern. Sometimes I am simply backing out of my driveway, sometimes I am accelerating after a stop sign, sometimes I am accelerating while entering on the freeway, sometimes I am simply driving down the freeway. What is consistent are the symptoms. The vehicle loses power, like it’s running out of gas. I cannot accelerate for a brief moment. If I press on the gas pedal to give it more power, sometimes it works and powers through the problem, sometimes it does not. It typically happens either in reverse, or when I am accelerating between 0 to 70. One time I was getting on the freeway, and the car would not go over 60. There is a car quickly approaching behind me and a Semi in the far left lane, so the car behind me had to honk the horn and slam on the brakes, because my car lost power right at the bottom of the entrance ramp. It continued until I let off, I posted for a couple moments, and then tried to slowly accelerate. I was able to get up to 70 before it lost power again.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-26
- VIN: MAJ6S3GL4NC

This has happened while driving on the expressway and late at night which causes a safety concern. I have brought it to 2 different dealerships, but neither was able to reproduce it. There is no warning or reason this happens. It just random.

I really like everything about the car, but I have some concerns about the dashboard lighting and speedometer. They seem a bit dismal and difficult to read, especially the speed limit light. I mentioned this to the service center, but they just laughed it off. It's a shame that Ford cheaped out on this aspect of the car.

I’ve had a lot of cars over the years, some a lot more expensive than the Ford EcoSport, but let me tell you, this little car is wonderful. It’s been very reliable, and the best feature is that every day when I get up to go to work, it puts a smile on my face. I think if Ford had advertised it more, the world would have embraced it like the Escort.

Great car!

Having driven the EcoSport at work, I already knew how it handled and what to expect. At work, it's the S model, but I got the SE model with a few more options. I love everything about it, especially the black exterior with the black interior.

Bought it on 11.5.2022 and have already put 10,000 miles on it. I've taken it on a couple of road trips and I'm absolutely in love with its size. The side-opening back door was the selling point for me, and mine also has a unique wrap that I've never seen on any others like it. I absolutely love mine!

This car is a terrible financial decision due to its poor gas mileage and lack of a spare tire. It is highly recommended that you do not purchase it. Additionally, it is important to thoroughly research any potential car purchases before making a decision. Although I personally made the mistake of buying this car without proper research, I hope that you can learn from my experience and make a more informed decision. Best of luck to you.

I'm currently renting a car while my Subaru Crosstrek is in the body shop after a collision with a deer. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of this car. The driver's seat is uncomfortable and the outward vision sightlines are poor. Additionally, the small 'windows' at the bottom of the A pillars are silly and you can't see anything through them. The rear seats are only suitable for adults without long legs, and there's a lack of usable storage space. The shifts are abrupt, the ride is jiggly, and the cabin is noisy. The stop/start feature is annoying, and the armrest for the driver is worthless. The fuel mileage is terrible, and the gas tank is small. There's no spare tire, and the headlights are inadequate. The brakes are grabby, and the side-hinged rear hatch makes no sense and offers no protection when open in the rain. It's sometimes unusable when parallel parking. The clunky, oversized key-fob and unintuitive info center controls with a small display are also frustrating. It's no surprise that Ford discontinued this model after the 2022 production. However, I'm grateful to have a rental car during this time.

I recently rented this car and unfortunately, due to the car seats for my two toddlers, there was no possibility of anyone sitting in the middle. Even with the passenger seat pushed all the way forward and tilted, my two-year-old's feet were still touching the back of the seat. Additionally, the car is not very fuel-efficient, as I have had to fill up the tank four times in just ten days. The small tank size means that you have to fill up frequently, which can be expensive. Overall, I would not recommend this car.

If only the dealer had informed me that this car doesn't come with a spare tire, I wouldn't have made the purchase. It's not reasonable to expect a 70-year-old to use sealant and an air pump on the side of the road. Although it looks great, it's not the best option for mountainous areas due to its minimal power. I would advise staying away from it.

I appreciate you sharing your experience with the car. It seems like you had some challenges with the power, gear shifting, and the driver's seat. Additionally, the auto shutoff feature at stop lights caused some safety concerns for you. Thank you for bringing these issues to light.
