2001 Mitsubishi Rvr problems
The Mitsubishi RVR is a range of cars produced by Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors from 1991 to 2002 and then from 2010 until present. The first two generations were classified as compact multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), and the model introduced in 2010 is a subcompact crossover SUV.
The RVR was Mitsubishi's Recreational Vehicle debut during the Japanese economic boom. The cars were sold at the Mitsubishi Japan dealership chain called Car Plaza. RVR is an acronym for "Recreation Vehicle Runner". In addition, the original logo had a Cyrillic Я on the first letter, so that it reads ЯVR. It had a convenient size passenger cabin and spacious 4–5 person capacity with a youth-oriented approach, making it appealing to young people. Television commercials in Japan used Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck as spokespeople. It was also developed and released during Japan's "bubble economy", and gained popularity due to the convenience of a passenger side sliding door.
It was a tall wagon with some off-road characteristics, targeting the "sports gear" or outdoor lifestyle market. This approach was similar to the one used by Honda when they introduced the Honda CR-V. The RVR had an especially good sales record in the beginning, even with the decline of the RV sales boom. Sales later declined, and the original RVR was discontinued in August 2002.
The reintroduction of the "Sports Gear" RVR nameplate is an attempt to inherit the popularity of the first generation vehicle. It was released in Japan on 17 February 2010. It does not feature a rear sliding door, due to the current perception that SUVs have conventional doors, and sliding doors are typically installed on family vehicles. The RVR logo no longer uses the inverted Cyrillic "Я" on the first letter.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2005-08-18
- Number Of Injuries: 1
- Crash: 1
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: I HAD A 2001 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE LS. MY CAR WAS TOTALED IN AN ACCIDENT. MY CAR HIT AN EMBANKMENT AND A TREE DUE TO ANOTHER DRIVER. THE IMPACT OF THE HIT WAS VERY POWERFUL. IT PUSHED THE TRANSMISSION OUT OF PLACE. I COULDN'T RETRIEVE MY KEYS FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH, NOR PUT THE CAR IN PARK BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE POLICE OFFICER AND I WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED THAT NEITHER ONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THIS WAS A VERY EMOTIONAL AND BAD EXPERIENCE. MY SON COULD HAVE LOST HIS LIFE BECAUSE OF NON-FUNCTIONAL AIR BAGS AND ALSO HIS FRIEND'S LIFE. AIR BAGS ARE FOR SAFETY. WHAT'S THE POINT OF HAVING THEM IN YOUR VEHICLE IF THEY'RE NOT GOING TO WORK? IF MY SON AND HIS FRIEND WASN'T WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. DOES IT ACTUALLY HAVE TO BE A DEATH BEFORE ANYONE WILL LISTEN TO YOUR COMPLAINT OR EVEN BE CONCERNED ABOUT IT? I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FIRST, THEY REFERRED ME TO THE MITSUBISHI MANUFACTURER. I INFORMED MY INSURANCE COMPANY ABOUT THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING AND THEY WERE SHOCKED. THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT NEITHER ONE OF THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURERS REPRESENTATIVELY AND ALL THEY SAID WAS, I'LL SEND YOU A BOOK ON AIR BAGS. THEY SAID ITS NORMAL FOR AIR BAGS NOT TO DEPLOY SOMETIMES. MY SON RECEIVED A LOT OF MINOR INJURIES SUCH AS: BRUISES, A DEEP CUT ON THE INSIDE OF HIS LIP, A LARGE KNOT ON HIS LEFT ELBOW, LARGE KNOT ON HIS LEFT LEG JUST BELOW HIS KNEE, A KNOT ON HIS FOREHEAD AND A VERY STIFF BODY FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. MY SON WAS VERY SHAKEN UP ABOUT THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING. THAT'S THE REASON I'M FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE MANUFACTURER. THEY RESPONDED TO ME LIKE IT WASN'T IMPORTANT. MY SON'S SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. I COULD NEVER REPLACE HIS LIFE. AIR BAGS ARE DESIGNED FOR SAFETY NOT DEFAULT. I'M VERY DISSATISFIED. HOW MANY MORE VEHICLES ARE UNSAFE REGARDING AIR BAGS. *JB
