2020 Ford Ecosport problems
The Ford EcoSport (pronounced Eh-koh-sport) is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) manufactured by Ford between 2003 and 2023.
The first-generation model was developed and built in Brazil by Ford Brazil since 2003, at the Camaçari plant. The second-generation model was launched in 2012, which was assembled in factories in India, Thailand, Russia and Romania. The vehicle entered the North American market for the first time in 2018, until its discontinuation after the 2022 model year. Throughout its existence, the EcoSport shares its platform with the Fiesta.
First generation (BV226; 2003)
The first generation EcoSport was designed by Ford Brazil Development Center under the program code BV226, and the codename "Amazon Project". It is based on the European Fiesta and Fusion MPV, sharing the same Ford B3 platform.
The EcoSport became one of Ford's best-seller models in Brazil, consistently appearing on the twenty best selling vehicles. It was also popular in Argentina, Venezuela, and Mexico. Its main competitors were the Fiat Palio Adventure and Volkswagen CrossFox. In 2011, cumulative sales reached 700,000.

Common 2020 Ford Ecosport problems
The 2020 Ford EcoSport has been reported to have several common problems, including low oil pressure, engine stalling, and transmission failures.
Engine stalling while driving is another problem found in some EcoSport models, typically around 30,000 miles. This issue is caused by the failure of various sensors on the engine, which can cost between $100 and $600 to replace, depending on the part that has failed.
Transmission failures are also a concern, with some 2020 Ford EcoSport models experiencing issues within the first 40,000 miles. The transmission wears out and needs to be replaced, which can cost over $3,500, depending on local labor rates.
While these problems are more severe than those found in other small SUVs, the 2020 Ford EcoSport has only one recall, which covers the air bag missing a booster. Ford will replace the air bag modules on affected models for free.
The 2020 Ford EcoSport is expected to last around 125,000 miles, but its high repair costs and frequent mechanical issues make it less appealing for many buyers. Regular annual maintenance costs are higher than average, and as the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles, owners should be prepared to replace the turbocharger tube, mass airflow sensor, and fuel tank, which can cost several hundred to over a thousand dollars.
In summary, the 2020 Ford EcoSport has several common problems, including low oil pressure, engine stalling, and transmission failures, which can lead to expensive repair costs. While the vehicle has a 4-star safety rating and offers a good choice for a reliable daily commuter, its long-distance touring capabilities are not as strong. Despite these issues, the EcoSport remains a popular choice for budget-conscious consumers looking for a compact SUV.

- Summary: My ecosport’s coolant reservoir has a leak. Due to this, my car overheated and went into limp mode. A week later, my ecosport would crank but not start, I believe this is due to a cracked cylinder from the oil pump recall. I received a recall notice for the oil pump in June with no current remedy. Now, I am having these issues with my vehicle. A mobile mechanic looked at my vehicle.

- VIN: MAJ3S2GE2LC
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: My engine blew up due to this recall in the beginning of July. It is now October. Car still at leonardtown ford. I had a rental until I purchased another vehicle this month. When I turned in rental I was charged 1455 dollars as the part ford claims the won't cover. I tried to get a loaner for weeks only to be told no loaners available. I have a rep at Ford and a case number however no one knows if or when I may be reimbursed for that money. This is horrible. This situation is because thier engine failed. I just want my money back and to move on.
POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-08
- VIN: MAJ3S2KE6LC
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: On Tuesday, [XXX] I could have been killed on the highway due to the recall from Ford. I’m thankful I am alive today. I was driving when my engine oil pressure light came on, my speed slowed down, my car was rumbling, my engine locked up and I had to weave through traffic to pull over on the side of the road. I had to spend money to have it towed to a mechanic. The mechanic told me it was most likely caused by the recall. I had it towed to Ford in Crestview, FL. Ford said they are also pretty sure it was due to the recall. Ford Crestview told me it could take WEEKS to diagnose, and then I would have to have a whole new engine/parts in which Ford won’t have until 2025. My car will be sitting at Ford for MONTHS. Ford does not care. They don’t care I almost died. I now do not feel safe in this vehicle. I get married on the [XXX], and I have a honey moon after. I depend on this vehicle for my job, etc. i am my dads caretaker who has cancer, and we had to skip his doctor appointment because my car was not available. His WHEELCHAIR fits in my car. Ford won’t give me a loaner vehicle until they diagnose it, and Ford Crestview informed me that they don’t even know if they will have a loaner vehicle. So what happens now? Cancel the wedding? Cancel the honeymoon? Keep canceling my dads doctor appointments and he will just pass away? Please help expedite this. Why would the dealership even diagnose it, when they technically have until 2025 when parts come in. Ford is not handling this well for over 100,000 people. This is for the OIL PUMP RECALL that almost made me lose my life. Someone take this seriously. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-11
- VIN: MAJ6S3FL2LC
- Components: WHEELS
- Summary: The component that failed/is malfunctioning is the Drivers side front Hub assembly. It could be available for inspection depending on date and time that it is needed to be inspected… My safety and others were put at risk because if I kept driving with this it could snap my entire tire off, rip my whole brake line out, and this being my drivers side could result in my getting ripped into oncoming traffic.. No manufacture has inspected it, no police have inspected it, only my boyfriend and I and a mechanic that was going in to replace brakes on my car. The only determination I have of this part being “recalled” is due to an auto parts store calling and telling me the part they ordered has to be sent back due to defect/recall on the manufacturers side. There have been no type of warnings at all besides stuff regarding my anti-lock system failing

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my 2020 Ecosport Titanium AWD that I bought last fall. It had 10000kms on it and was a dealer service vehicle, so I got it at a great discounted price. Since then, I've driven it for an additional 5500kms without any issues. The only minor complaint I have is that the gas tank is a bit small, so I find myself filling it up more often than I'd like. Additionally, there's a bit of noise coming from the rear end, especially on the passenger side, so I plan to have it checked out. Overall, it's been a great car for me, especially in the snow and on the highway. I drive about 500kms a week and it handles it like a champ. Thanks for listening!
-
The car has plenty of legroom and feels great to drive.

As a senior citizen, I was on the lookout for a new car or SUV that would suit my needs. After browsing through the showroom, I finally found the perfect vehicle for me and my husband. It's spacious, easy to get in and out of, and has plenty of room for our furry friend to join us on trips. We're really excited to take it out for a spin!
-
Great on icy/slick roads. The front bucket seats are comfortable, but the back is not very spacious. It also comes with built-in USB ports, heated seats, multi-color cargo lighting, and a leather interior.

We are thrilled with our 2020 Ecosport from Avis Car Sales! Despite living atop an 800 high with a 16 degree incline, the Ecosport easily flies up the hill better than any car we've owned in the 33 years we've lived here. It's a comfortable ride with every possible option. When it's time to retire our second vehicle, we would certainly consider another Ecosport. Thank you, Avis Car Sales!

I flew into Atlanta and had reserved a compact SUV. At first, I was a bit skeptical of the sub-compact size, but to my surprise, it was loaded with features. However, around town, the ride was a bit stiff and when it rained, I could hear the raindrops patter on the roof. I'm not sure which engine this SUV had, but it lacked power and I felt like I could have pushed it myself. Additionally, there was a constant rattle in the back, as if a back door had been left open. Once I got on the highway, the ride improved significantly, although the power was still lacking.
Chase Kris 2024-10-10
The sound system and Sync 3 are definitely the highlights of this car. However, it's worth noting that the engine may not be as powerful as some would like, and it lacks some modern safety features. Additionally, the design may not be to everyone's taste. Overall, I would suggest considering these factors before making a decision. Thank you for your time.
Jefferey Macejkovic 2024-10-04
If you're looking for a car with great fuel economy, a smooth ride, and a powerful engine, this may not be the best option for you. However, if you're looking for a car with character and a unique driving experience, this car may be worth considering. It's important to note that the brakes may be a bit noisy and the transmission may not shift as smoothly as some other cars on the market. Overall, it's a car with its own quirks and personality. That being said, I have personally experienced a smoother ride in my old Yugo.
Sherwood Feeney 2024-07-12
Whoever heard of a car that comes with no spare tire, no jack, and no lug wrench? Instead, it has an inflator/repair kit that's worthless. This is the worst idea Ford ever had!
Jess Bayer 2024-04-19
We recently purchased the SES with a 4-cylinder AWD and it is a very nice looking vehicle. Although my spouse was initially drawn to the compact SUV's appearance, we have found that the 166 horsepower engine can feel a bit weak and the ride can be rough. Additionally, the seats are not very comfortable for long rides. Overall, we are a bit disappointed. However, we are hopeful that it will last longer without any major repairs.
