The Ford EcoSport (pronounced Eh-koh-sport) is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) manufactured by Ford between 2003 and 2023.
The first-generation model was developed and built in Brazil by Ford Brazil since 2003, at the Camaçari plant. The second-generation model was launched in 2012, which was assembled in factories in India, Thailand, Russia and Romania. The vehicle entered the North American market for the first time in 2018, until its discontinuation after the 2022 model year. Throughout its existence, the EcoSport shares its platform with the Fiesta.
First generation (BV226; 2003)
The first generation EcoSport was designed by Ford Brazil Development Center under the program code BV226, and the codename "Amazon Project". It is based on the European Fiesta and Fusion MPV, sharing the same Ford B3 platform.
The EcoSport became one of Ford's best-seller models in Brazil, consistently appearing on the twenty best selling vehicles. It was also popular in Argentina, Venezuela, and Mexico. Its main competitors were the Fiat Palio Adventure and Volkswagen CrossFox. In 2011, cumulative sales reached 700,000.

They keep giving me different reasons why they can't fix the car but Ford has been sued many times for this issue and failing to fix it and notify drivers about the defect.

I had to spend money to have it towed to a mechanic. The mechanic told me it was most likely caused by the recall. I had it towed to Ford in Crestview, FL. Ford Crestview told me it could take WEEKS to diagnose, and then I would have to have a whole new engine/parts in which Ford won’t have until 2025. My car will be sitting at Ford for MONTHS. Ford does not care. They don’t care I almost died. I now do not feel safe in this vehicle. I get married on the [XXX], and I have a honey moon after. I depend on this vehicle for my job, etc. i am my dads caretaker who has cancer, and we had to skip his doctor appointment because my car was not available. His WHEELCHAIR fits in my car. Ford won’t give me a loaner vehicle until they diagnose it, and Ford Crestview informed me that they don’t even know if they will have a loaner vehicle. So what happens now? Cancel the wedding? Cancel the honeymoon? Keep canceling my dads doctor appointments and he will just pass away? Please help expedite this. Why would the dealership even diagnose it, when they technically have until 2025 when parts come in. Ford is not handling this well for over 100,000 people. I really like everything about the car, but I have some concerns about the dashboard lighting and speedometer. They seem a bit dismal and difficult to read, especially the speed limit light. I mentioned this to the service center, but they just laughed it off. It's a shame that Ford cheaped out on this aspect of the car.

I've had my EcoSport for about 18 months now and drove it from VA to MN. The gas mileage was near 40 MPG, which was fantastic! I wasn't sure if I would like the fact that the engine turns itself off when you're at a light, but let me tell you, it starts up when needed! I was sitting at a light outside of Leesburg when a dump truck came barreling into my lane. My engine started up, and I swerved onto the side to avoid what I'm sure would have been one bloody mess. So, I'm much more at ease with that feature. The car fits me like a glove in the driver's seat too. I instantly felt comfortable when I did a test drive. I don't know why there aren't more on the road! Give it a shot!

It’s been very reliable, and the best feature is that every day when I get up to go to work, it puts a smile on my face. I think if Ford had advertised it more, the world would have embraced it like the Escort.

However, I am confident that Ford will take responsibility for this issue and provide a solution. I have been in contact with them and they are working on a resolution. We thought the ecosport might be a better value than our Escape Titanium in terms of gas consumption, so we traded it in. 1. Unfortunately, a spare tire is not included with the tube of tire sealant. However, it can be a helpful solution for ordinary flats. 2. According to item #5 on page 5 of the Tire Warranty Guide provided by Ford for the Bridgestone/Firestone Limited Warranty, the warranty does not cover tires with sealant, balance, or other filler material that was not originally applied or inserted by the tire manufacturer. This means that if you use the sealant to make it to a Bridgestone/Firestone dealer, the tire warranty will be void. Additionally, if you experience a more serious problem than the sealant can repair, you may be stranded on the road, which can be a stressful situation.

I flew into Atlanta and had reserved a compact SUV. At first, I was a bit skeptical of the sub-compact size, but to my surprise, it was loaded with features. However, around town, the ride was a bit stiff and when it rained, I could hear the raindrops patter on the roof. I'm not sure which engine this SUV had, but it lacked power and I felt like I could have pushed it myself. Additionally, there was a constant rattle in the back, as if a back door had been left open. Once I got on the highway, the ride improved significantly, although the power was still lacking.

The 2018 Ecosport has had some issues with the power train, thermostat, and exhaust/gas smell through the vents at low speeds. Additionally, some drivers have reported poor gas mileage, lack of power, dead space in the accelerator pedal, and radio resetting to AM constantly. It's also worth noting that there is no spare tire and the interior can feel cramped with limited space to set things down. Despite its cute appearance, especially the lightning blue ones, it's important to be aware of these potential issues.
