Ford E-350 problems
The Ford E-Series (also known as the Ford Econoline, Ford Econovan or Ford Club Wagon) is a range of full-size vans manufactured and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced for 1961 as the replacement of the Ford F-Series panel van, four generations of the model line have been produced. Marketed for both cargo and passenger transport configurations, the E-Series has been designed with multiple design variations for both retail and commercial sale, including vans, and commercial-grade cutaway van chassis and stripped chassis (a chassis without bodywork).
With over 8.2 million units sold since 1961, the Ford E-Series is the third-best selling van line in history (outranked only by the Ford Transit and Volkswagen Transporter). Ford retired the E-Series passenger and cargo vans after 2014, replacing them with the Ford Transit. As of current production, the E-Series remains offered exclusively in cutaway and stripped-chassis configurations. In 2021, the model line entered its 60th year of production (becoming the second current Ford line to do so).
The E-Series (cutaway/stripped chassis) is assembled by Ford at its Ohio Assembly facility (Avon Lake, Ohio), which has produced the model line since 1975. Prior to its closure, Lorain Assembly (Lorain, Ohio) assembled the model line from 1961 to 2005.

Common Ford E-350 problems
The Ford E-350, a popular choice for commercial vehicles, has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners.
One of the most reported problems is the spark plug ejected while driving, which has been experienced by owners of the 2001 Ford E-350. The average cost to fix this issue is $11,000, with an average mileage of 87,000 miles.
Another common problem is engine oil leaks from the cylinder head area. This issue is prevalent in various model years of the Ford E-350, with the average cost to replace the head gasket being between $1,100 and $1,400.
Front-end rattle noise over bumps is also a common problem in the Ford E-350. This issue is caused by handling issues and excessive play in the upper and lower ball joints. Replacing one ball joint can cost around $250, while replacing both is about $550.
Loud popping noises and misfires are also common problems in the Ford E-350. This issue is caused by the spark plug being dislodged from the cylinder head, resulting in stripped threads. If the vehicle is still under warranty, it is recommended to replace the cylinder head. If not, using aluminum inserts to replace the threads can start around $500.
Coolant leakage from the heater core is another common problem in the Ford E-350. This issue is caused by electrolysis that runs through the coolant, causing corrosion and deterioration of heater core and radiator parts. Replacing the heater core is a $200-$300 fix, and adding ground straps can help prevent future corrosion of components.
Rust problems are also common in the Ford E-350, especially in regions with significant rust due to weather conditions. Leaking pinion seals are a cause for concern, but they are a fairly common issue and can be addressed if caught early.
In summary, the Ford E-350 has several common problems, including engine problems, spark plug ejection, engine oil leaks, front-end rattle noise, loud popping noises, and coolant leakage from the heater core. These issues can be costly to repair, and it is essential to address them promptly to ensure the longevity and safety of the vehicle.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-17
- Date Complaint: 2024-08-18
- VIN: 1FDWE3FN3ND
- Components: STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: After hitting a very rough patch of interstate, our steering became very difficult. The driver thought that maybe we had a low tire, so looked for a place to pull over. We crested a hill, and there was an exit with a truck stop. As we attempted to slow for the exit, the driver discovered we had no brakes or power steering. Driver used the brakes on the trailer we were towing to slow us and bring us to a stop. Checked the brake fluid reservoir. It was empty. Bought more, but as soon as the pedal was pushed, it was gone. We were towed to a repair shop, and they discovered the high pressure line on the Hydroboost brake system had separated. The repair shop was able to find a replacement from Ford Motor Co., and repaired our motorhome. We had this exact component inspected 2 years ago when Ford issued an inspection report. We passed. This incident happened 2500 miles from home. When we arrived home, there was a letter from Ford (24N03) stating they were extending the "warranty" period on the high pressure line.

- Summary: Received a notice on a "Customer Satisfaction Program 24N03" Instead of issuing a recall for the Hydroboost power steering pressure and jumper lines they instead extended the warranty. People have had their braking and power steering go out while driving and this is simply unsafe and unacceptable. They need to replace their faulty "quick connector" to a hard connector before people are injured. My dealership refuses to do this as it is not a recall. Thank you for your consideration

384,000 miles on 7.3 turbo diesel. With regular maintenance these trucks are extremely dependable. I have had no major problems with the engine or transmission. I did have to rebuild the rear-end at 300,000 miles, but that's to be expected with heavy loads. It always averages 20+ mpg on the highway.

I really enjoy my van, but I do have a couple of minor issues with it. One is that there are only four drink holders in a vehicle that can carry up to 12 passengers, and three of them are located up front for the driver and front passenger. Additionally, the seat belts for the center passenger seats tend to fall through the slots in the seats and can be difficult to retrieve. Despite these minor issues, I still love my van!

The van is great overall, but I have had some trouble with the transmission. Unfortunately, I've had to replace it twice and it looks like I may need to do so again soon (the second replacement was due to AAMCO's less than skilled mechanics). Additionally, the front wheels are difficult to keep aligned and can be expensive to maintain due to tire wear. However, I am excited to convert it to 4x4 and use it as a camper!

Your vehicle has been outstanding! It is incredibly dependable, gets great gas mileage for a one ton chassis, and is quite comfortable. While it may not be the sportiest option out there, who cares?

Very reliable vehicle. It sounds like this automobile can do it all! It can carry your family and friends, haul lumber of almost any size, pull your boat or trailer, and drive the highways like it's a breeze. It can even cross dry lake beds with very little modification.
