The Ford Crown Victoria ("Crown Vic") is a full-size sedan that was marketed and manufactured by Ford. The successor to the Ford LTD Crown Victoria, two generations of the model line were produced from the 1992 until the 2012 model years. The Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis, the Crown Victoria was the largest sedan marketed by Ford in North America, slotted above the Ford Taurus. The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (1992–2011) was marketed specifically for law-enforcement use; a long-wheelbase Crown Victoria sedan (2002–2011) was marketed primarily for taxi cab fleets.

The Crown Victoria was produced on the rear-wheel drive, body-on-frame Ford Panther platform, sharing its chassis with the Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. From 1997 until their 2011 discontinuation, the three model lines were the sole four-door sedans produced in North America with a full-length frame, rear-wheel drive, and a standard V8 engine. While the front and rear crumple zones were engineered into the vehicle, it was one of Ford's products that were not of unibody construction for the entire generation. The Crown Victoria was the last car made using the Ford Panther platform.

For its entire production, the Crown Victoria was produced by Ford Canada alongside the Grand Marquis at St. Thomas Assembly in Southwold, Ontario. From 1991 until 2011, over 1.5 million cars (including Police Interceptors) were produced by St. Thomas Assembly prior to its closure. A 2012 Crown Victoria (intended for Middle East export) was the final vehicle produced by the facility. Following the discontinuation of the model line, the Crown Victoria was not directly replaced, with the full-size Ford Taurus serving as the next basis for Ford police cars.

Negative 1996 Ford Crown victoria car reviews

  1. Tyson Hudson 2024-07-28

This has been a dependable car, despite a few manufacturing defects that Ford may not acknowledge. The plastic intake manifold has a tendency to crack and leak antifreeze around 60m+ miles, while the ball joints can make considerable noise and may fall out at 60M+ miles. Additionally, the hood safety catch may come loose while driving, which can be extremely dangerous.

I absolutely adore my Ford Crown Vic! From the moment I bought it, I knew it was the perfect car for me. It's incredibly comfortable and surprisingly fuel-efficient for its size. I used to suffer from back pain during long drives, but the adjustable seats in my Crown Vic have made all the difference. I've hardly had to do any maintenance on it, and it's been incredibly reliable. In my opinion, Ford really knows how to make a great car. My previous Crown Vic had over 275,000 miles on it and was still going strong, but unfortunately, I had to replace it because of a persistent smell. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my new Crown Vic!

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I bought it brand new back in '95 and it only has 41,000 miles on it. Overall, it has been a pleasure to own. The only issue I've had is with the power window motors, but other than that, the car has been very dependable and strong. I don't understand why people spend so much money on foreign-made sedans when this car gives you the best value for your dollar in the large 4-door sedan field. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts!

I absolutely adore my Ford Crown Vic! From the moment I bought it, I knew it was the perfect car for me. It's incredibly comfortable and surprisingly fuel-efficient for its size. I used to suffer from back pain during long drives, but the adjustable backrests in this car have made all the difference. I've hardly had to do any maintenance on it, and it's been incredibly reliable. In my opinion, Ford really knows how to make a great car. My last Crown Vic had over 275,000 miles on it and was still going strong, but unfortunately, I had to replace it because of a smoking habit. I couldn't get the smell out, so I decided to treat myself to a brand new one!

I am so happy with my 1996 Crwn Vic! It was preowned but in EXCELLENT condition and garage kept. At first, I was a bit skeptical since I was very attached to my Ford Explorer, but after driving it for a couple of weeks, I was HOOKED! The power, comfort, and quiet ride are wonderful, especially compared to my 94 Explorer with 197,000 miles. I absolutely love my FooFie car and I can't imagine owning any other model. It's worth noting that we have 3 Fords in the family, all of which have over 100,000 miles. Now that's FORD TOUGH!!

Your 1996 Crown Victoria sounds like an amazing car! It's comfortable, reliable, and powerful enough to handle anything you need. I can tell you really enjoy driving it, especially since you describe it as a great cruiser. Thanks for sharing your experience with me!
