1997 Ford Crown victoria problems
The Ford Crown Victoria ("Crown Vic") is a full-size sedan that was marketed and manufactured by Ford. The successor to the Ford LTD Crown Victoria, two generations of the model line were produced from the 1992 until the 2012 model years. The Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis, the Crown Victoria was the largest sedan marketed by Ford in North America, slotted above the Ford Taurus. The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (1992–2011) was marketed specifically for law-enforcement use; a long-wheelbase Crown Victoria sedan (2002–2011) was marketed primarily for taxi cab fleets.
The Crown Victoria was produced on the rear-wheel drive, body-on-frame Ford Panther platform, sharing its chassis with the Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. From 1997 until their 2011 discontinuation, the three model lines were the sole four-door sedans produced in North America with a full-length frame, rear-wheel drive, and a standard V8 engine. While the front and rear crumple zones were engineered into the vehicle, it was one of Ford's products that were not of unibody construction for the entire generation. The Crown Victoria was the last car made using the Ford Panther platform.
For its entire production, the Crown Victoria was produced by Ford Canada alongside the Grand Marquis at St. Thomas Assembly in Southwold, Ontario. From 1991 until 2011, over 1.5 million cars (including Police Interceptors) were produced by St. Thomas Assembly prior to its closure. A 2012 Crown Victoria (intended for Middle East export) was the final vehicle produced by the facility. Following the discontinuation of the model line, the Crown Victoria was not directly replaced, with the full-size Ford Taurus serving as the next basis for Ford police cars.

IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND FORTUNATELY I HAD JUST STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. EACH TIME IT TOOK ABOUT 3 TO 5 MINUTES TO COME BACK ON. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT FORD HAS DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY OCCURRENCES WITH THESE TYPE OF VEHICLES ONLINE. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE A MAJOR ACCIDENT OCCURS. ALSO MOST PEOPLE LIKE ME CANNOT AFFORD THESE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS THAT ARE NOT DUE TO ORDINARY WEAR AND TEAR, BUT A MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM. IF NO ACTION IS TAKEN IT WILL BE QUITE A DISAPPOINTMENT BECAUSE THESE CARS ARE VERY POPULAR AND YOUNGER PEOPLE ARE BUYING THEM WHICH BECOMES MORE SCARY IN LIGHT OF THE KIND OF DRIVERS THEY ARE. *TR

THE CAR WAS JUST INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ON, NO DISCUSSION WAS MADE ABOUT THIS MANIFOLD PROBLEM ... THEY EVEN CHECKED FOR ANY PREVIOUS TECHNICAL BULLETINS. I have had my 1997 Crown Vic for 22 years and it has 160,250 miles on it. It still runs like new and I absolutely love driving it. The comfort is unbeatable and it's perfect for traveling. The handling is outstanding and I recently purchased another used 2011 Crown Vic last month. I've heard from plenty of people who are very disappointed that Ford stopped making this vehicle. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone!

I bought my Vic a year ago and have loved every minute of it. It has the new Crown Victoria interior design, which I absolutely adore! It accelerates without hesitation and brakes on a dime. I'm really enjoying it!

It's been 6 years since I purchased the car and I have to say, it's been a great ride! I haven't had any problems with it and I think Ford did an awesome job with this one. It has 110,000 miles on it and I definitely plan on keeping it for a while. You should definitely consider buying one!

Your Crown Vic sounds like a real gem! It's amazing that it's still running like new after all these years and with so many miles on it. The way it handles is really impressive and the ride is so smooth. Plus, it's great that it gets such good gas mileage, around 20 to 25 miles per gallon. You're lucky to have such a reliable car that was given to you by your dad.

I love the feeling when people slow down behind me, thinking it might be an unmarked cop car. It's such a rush! The driver's seat fabric is showing some wear, but on long trips, there's no other car that brings me as much joy to drive. I'm really excited to buy a 2003 Sport model!

I understand your frustration with the issues you've experienced with your car. It's disappointing that personal owners didn't receive the same warranty coverage as fleet cars for the intake manifold issue. Additionally, it's concerning that you've had multiple issues with the interior and exterior quality of the car, despite it being a luxury model. I hope we can work together to find a solution to these problems.

I have experienced multiple issues with the vehicle, including recurring brake problems, a transmission issue, and a fuel line leak. Upon checking for recalls, I found that the 'police' version of the vehicle was recalled for the same fuel line issue in the exact same location. Despite this, the dealer informed me that my non-police vehicle was not covered. I am disappointed with the gas economy, which is currently at 12.8 miles per gallon. As a long-time Ford owner, I am concerned that these issues may impact my future purchasing decisions.

Surprising power with decent gas mileage. Good for long trips with the family. Plenty of space in the trunk. The car handles well, although the steering can be a bit twitchy. The driver's seat can be uncomfortable, but with electric adjustability, I can usually find an acceptable position. My friends love this car on road trips.

I purchased this car used in 2005 with only 89,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with it such as the passenger window, accelerator cable, brake sensor, rear driver's window, and heating and air conditioning. Although these issues were frustrating, I understand that cars can have problems and I did my best to address them. I have decided to look for a new car now, but I appreciate the time I had with this one. Thank you.
