I recently purchased a 2018 pop manual transmission and it is a real beauty. I highly recommend this car. It's perfect for everyday use and comfortably seats up to five adults. No need for a huge van when you have this normal-sized car!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with our 2017 500x Trekking Plus. It's actually our second modern Fiat, as we still have our 2014 500L Trekking DDCT. Despite its age, our 500X hasn't accumulated high mileage, with only about 35,000 miles on the car to date (as of 1/2024), which averages out to about 5,000 miles per year. I've always felt our 500X has been a decent car, as it's never given us any problems. However, over time, I've come to like the car more and more. The initial ride stiffness has lessened to the point that now it feels comfortable, still buttoned down, but it doesn't feel as stiff over the smaller bumps as it used to, and feels really good over the larger stuff. Also, the fuel economy seems to have improved, getting a solid 28 mpg now, which I know isn't record-setting for the segment, but it's decent, and it does it on 87 octane gas. I've had the check done for oil usage per a recall (they checked it after 1500 miles following an oil change and it's barely used a drop), so that's good to know. Also, I may be the only one here, but I've learned to appreciate the ZF 9-speed automatic transmission. It seems to shift more smoothly than ever, I do believe it had a re-flash of the module that manages the shifting programs early on, but in any case, it shifts well overall, with the occasional slight lunging effect when shifting from 4th to 5th. If you're an owner of a car with this transmission, you might find it worthwhile to review some YouTube videos on it. It's a unique design that uses Due to its design feature, this transmission may not be the best choice for those who prefer a sporty driving experience. However, it does offer a 'Sport Mode' shift program that can be selected using a knob located on the center console, along with a normal mode (called 'Auto') and a low traction mode. Personally, I mostly use 'Auto' as it provides the best fuel economy. Learning subtle techniques using the accelerator pedal to coax it to shift in a way that suits the situation has been a rewarding experience for me. Although most people may not notice or care about these things, it's something you can experiment with to make the driving experience more enjoyable. The car feels very solid with no squeaks or rattles, and the doors shut with a nice thunk. However, the hatch is not as good, but that has been remedied in later models, maybe from MY2018 and up. It's not that mine makes a horrible noise, it just doesn't give you a sound that indicates it's fully closed, so I'll often double check by looking. It's always been like this, but it's always functioned fine. One last thing, about 3 years back, I replaced the factory 18 inch wheels that require 55 series tires with 17 inch wheels and tires. This has improved the ride quality and provided some insurance against flats due to road hazards. I have noticed no difference in handling, and they look pretty cool. It seems to make for a little less unsprung weight too, so the suspension can react a little more quickly to road imperfections. My wife and I plan to hold on to this car for a long time as it has been an excellent car for us.

I hope you're enjoying your 2018 Fiat 500x Lounge! It sounds like a great car with its maneuverability, tight turning, panoramic sunroof, Beats system, perforated leather, 18” tires and aluminum wheels. I'm glad to hear that you're having a really nice ride!

Moving to a metro area was a pleasure! We've owned many SUVs, including Jeeps and larger vehicles like the Tahoe, but the Fiat 500 X has been a game changer. During one of the worst blizzards I've ever seen in the Midwest, the Fiat 500 X handled better than anything else I've ever driven, except for a Subaru Outback. I felt incredibly safe and secure in the vehicle, and it handled the closed interstate with ease. The front seats are incredibly comfortable and luxurious, although the backseat has minimal legroom. The finish is nice, and the steering wheel is incredibly comfortable. While the motor is a little weak for acceleration, it does the job in the city. Compared to its sibling, the Jeep Renegade, the Fiat 500 X is a much more luxurious and cute car with greater personality. The ride is better due to the difference in suspensions, and with the usual discount of about five to $7000 off the sticker price, it's a great value. I would definitely buy another one, especially once they offer adaptive cruise control!

To begin with, I'm a car enthusiast who has owned around 20 cars at the age of 33. Although I tend to switch cars frequently, I was immediately drawn to the 500x after conducting thorough research. It offers everything I desire in a car without breaking the bank and is packed with character. Despite initial concerns about the 9-speed transmission and Fiat's reputation, my experience with the car has been nothing but positive. I've driven over 17k miles in a year and have not encountered any issues. I opted for the Trekking AWD with every available option, including active safety features, and have been impressed with the forward crash mitigation system. The car has performed well in various conditions, including off-road and in the snow. The interior material quality is excellent, and the stereo is decent. Although there are some build quality issues, such as occasional vibrations at idle and a low driver's door armrest, the car's fun and personality more than make up for it. The infotainment system occasionally freezes, but it's easily reset. While the MPG could be better, I'm still getting better than the sticker claims. Overall, I adore this car and would recommend it to anyone. It's far more reliable than people give it credit for, and it's comfortable and packed with personality. It's surprising that companies like Land Rover, VW, and Ford can produce cars known for their reliability issues, yet people still flock to buy them, while Fiat has a bad reputation despite being no worse than a typical car.

These vehicles do not have good horsepower. My grandmother's car is better. The transmission lags behind badly. Sometimes I have to slow down because it's not shifting gears properly. The gas mileage, in my opinion, is not good. It seems like I'm always putting gas in it. My best advice is to not try to pull out in traffic and think it's going to get up and go because it won't. I am disappointed badly.

I leased the vehicle in December 2016. Unfortunately, the car had engine lights come on and had to be towed within 24 hours of getting it home. I was told there was a bad sensor in my side view mirror. About 2 months later, while driving with my kids on the highway, a “drive mode unavailable” warning came on. I was left stranded on the highway with 2 small children in a new car. They came and towed it, but I never got a clear answer for the problem. I told them to check the transmission, which they said was “fine”. They returned the car to me with the warning light off over a week later, but the transmission was worse than ever. The jerking that occurs from the stop position to first gear is horrible, and it is like driving in a manual transmission car with someone learning how to shift. As someone with a neck injury, some days driving this car is like torture. I have owned other Chrysler family vehicles in the past with no issues, so I never dreamed I would be this disappointed. I travel for work and drive rental cars three weeks a month, and I don’t see this problem with other manufacturers. Also, if you are having troubles, don’t expect help from any other dealerships in the Chrysler family. They like to defer you to only Fiat dealerships, which are few and far between.

This car has unfortunately experienced some issues, and despite multiple visits to the dealership for service, the problem has not yet been resolved. It is frustrating that FCA has not taken action to address these known issues.

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to bring to your attention an issue I have been experiencing with my 2017 FIAT 500x Trekking car, which I purchased from Peake Chrysler in Sodus NY 14551. Unfortunately, the car has been spending a lot of time in the shop due to a heating issue. Although the dealership has been working to fix the problem, it has not yet been resolved. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide in resolving this matter. Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.
