2007 Chrysler Sebring problems
The Chrysler Sebring (/ˈsiːbrɪŋ/ SEE-bring) is a line of mid-size automobiles that was sold from 1995 through 2010 by Chrysler. Three generations of convertibles, two generations of sedans, and two generations of coupes were produced. Although the coupe shared the same name and some styling cues, it was mechanically unrelated to the other Sebring models.
The Sebring line was introduced in 1995 with the Chrysler Sebring coupe. It was the replacement for the Chrysler LeBaron coupe. In 1996 the convertible was introduced, replacing its LeBaron counterpart as well. For 2001, both body styles were redesigned and a sedan version was offered, replacing the Chrysler Cirrus. The coupe was discontinued after 2005 with no replacement model planned.
The redesigned sedan was introduced for 2007, and a convertible the following year. New options included all-wheel drive on sedans and an available retractable metal top for the convertible. All Sebring models were replaced by the Chrysler 200 for the 2011 model year.

Common 2007 Chrysler Sebring problems
The 2007 Chrysler Sebring has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to electrical issues, airbag concerns, and some engine and powertrain complaints.
Electrical issues are the most prevalent, accounting for approximately one-third of the 334 complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for the 2007 Chrysler Sebring. These issues include defective instrument lights, power loss, and exterior light failure, which are often caused by a battery problem.
Airbag concerns are another significant issue, with 72 complaints on file related to airbag issues. The most common problem reported is the airbag warning light staying on for no apparent reason. Although a recall was issued in 2007 for faulty occupant sensors, it doesn't seem to be directly connected to the majority of these complaints.
Engine and powertrain complaints are less common but still present in the 2007 Chrysler Sebring. Some owners have reported issues with the electronic throttle, which may require a thorough inspection to determine if it's a major mechanical failure or a less expensive electrical fix.
In addition to these issues, the 2007 Chrysler Sebring has been recalled seven times, which is within the average range for a car of this age. The relatively low number of driver complaints and the car's ability to reach high mileage (up to 250,000 miles) contribute to its reputation as one of the less troubled cars for this model year.
While these issues can be frustrating for owners, it's essential to address them promptly to ensure the vehicle remains safe and reliable. Regular maintenance and inspections can help identify and resolve these problems before they become more significant issues.
How long does a 2007 Chrysler Sebring last?
Chrysler Sebring drivers typically report a maximum mileage in the 250,000 range. If you can find one in good condition, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to hit a quarter million miles. Higher numbers have been reported, but the really expensive repairs will start to mount past 250,000.
Why is the Chrysler Sebring a bad car?
The 2.7L DaimlerChrysler engine is highly suceptible to oil sludge, a sticky hell stew that coats the inside of your engine. The sludge retains heat and starts putting severe strain on the mechanical parts of your engine.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-25
- VIN: 1c3lc56kx7n
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE
- Summary: There were 7 recalls on my make, year, model vehicle. Three of which were Brakes, Air Bags, and the TPMS tire monitoring system. Other body parts, doors and hood releases had recalls along with hvac/air conditioning systems. Radiator/fan motor failures. Doors flying open during transit. The ABS control module could cause the brakes to lock-up during braking. Shorts from unused connectors for the computer/TPMS system/brakes and air bags have been causing many unpredictable breakdowns. Some predictable, from past records, state recorded Instances from 180,963 vehicles that just failure of the TPMS monitor system has already caused engine no start, dead battery, Inoperable cruise control, remote start system, engine stalling which could cause a "crash without warning". This was what i read on the www.autoblog site concerning this vehicle. I contacted the Chrysler Recall Center and the site says the dealer's techs would seal the wiring "free of charge", and to replace the front seat track position sensors "free of charge". The recall center said they wouldn't do any repairs at their "free of charge" policy for ME. They said that I would have to pay out-of-pocket, when the site says they already serviced 180,963 vehicles "free of charge". I'm broke and on fixed income. Why are they being so unfair. From what I heard, and I could be wrong, but I was made to believe that there is no expiration date for recalls. If they already state online, some of the recalls could cause a "crash without warning", why would they refuse me? This happened yesterday to me. The Check TPMS System warning notice appeared, along with the Air Bag Red warning light at the top of the speedometer, while I was driving. The tire pressure screen appeared showing the tire pressure of the four tires. They are all fully Inflated. The Air Bag red light came on/off a few times, while driving home and the tire pressure screen remains on all the time. I don't want an accident.

- VIN: 1C3LC46K47N
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: VERY MAJOR PROBLEM. ON A COLD START, IF THE CAR WAS OFF FOR AT LEAST 6 HOURS, IT CRANKS AND CRANKS AND CRANKS FOR ABOUT 8 SECONDS BEFORE STARTING, WHEN IT DOES START, IT REVS ALL THE WAY TO 2500 RPMS BY ITSELF AND SLOWLY GOES DOWN. IF I TRY TO PUT IT IN DRIVE BEFORE IT STOPS REVVING, THE RPMS GO UP AND DOWN BY THEMSELVES AND MY ETC LIGHT STARTS FLASHING AND I AM UNABLE TO CONTROL THE RPMS. I THEN HAVE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND START IT AGAIN TO STOP THE CAR SPASMS. 50% WHEN I START IT AND LET IT STOP REVVING BEFORE SHIFTING TO DRIVE, IT GOES DOWN TO 1000 RPMS AND I'M GOOD TO GO. THE OTHER 50% OF THE TIME, IT FLASHES THE ETC LIGHT AND STUTTERS AND I MUST KEEP RESTARTING THE CAR TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE IT. I SEARHED UP THE PROBLEM AND SAW THAT BAD SPARK PLUGS OR A DIRTY INTAKE MANIFOLD COULD BE THE PROBLEMS. I THEN GOT MY SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AND INTAKE MANIFOLD TAKEN OUT MY CAR TO BE CLEANED OUT. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. I THEN SEARCHED MORE AND WENT THROUGH A THREAD OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM, PEOPLE WITH DODGE AVENGERS AND CHRYSLER SEBRINGS ALL AROUND THE YEAR MY CAR MODEL IS. MULTIPLE COMMENTERS IN THE THREAD EXPLAINED THAT THEY PUT THROUGH A COMPLAINT TO THE NHTSA AND A RECALL FOR THEIR CARS WERE MADE. MULTIPLE PEOPLE ALSO SAID THAT THE PART IN THE CAR CAUSING THIS PROBLEM IS THE FAULT OF CHRYSLER AND DODGE. HERE'S A LINK TO THE THREAD: HTTPS://DODGEFORUM.COM/FORUM/2008-CURRENT-DODGE-AVENGER/226963-ELECTRONIC-THROTTLE-CONTROL-LIGHT-HORSE-POWER-LOSS.HTML THIS PROBLEM HAS BOTH HAPPENED WHEN MY CAR IS IN PARK AND IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. IT HAPPENED ONCE WHEN I WAS IN THE SECOND LANE ON A THREE LANE HIGHWAY. THIS WAS THE MOST DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN OFF THE CAR. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 2/3/20 BUT TODAY, (2/15/20) WAS THE HARSHEST SYMPTOMS

I bought this car with 70,000 miles on it and it has been amazing for the price. I have put 85,000 miles on it and it still runs great. I only had to replace the brakes, bushings, and control arms at around 100,000 miles, but other than that, the performance has been excellent. The engine has never given me any problems. The windows stopped working at 140,000 miles, but it was an easy fix. I have always been good with the maintenance and it has paid off. This car is my go-to for commuting and going to the gym. It's a reliable and fun car to drive. I will never sell it because it has taken care of me for 10 years and still looks great, never dated.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the Chrysler Sebring that I purchased a few weeks ago. While I absolutely love the way it looks, I have been experiencing a few issues. Specifically, the ignition has made a strange sound a couple of times and the brakes make a funny noise when I'm backing up. Additionally, after a rainy day, I noticed that there was a lot of water swishing around in the back, which my husband thinks is coming from the back passenger door. Although I'm still under warranty, I'm considering returning the car and finding something else. Just wanted to give you a heads up! Take care.
-
I purchased a new Touring model and unfortunately experienced the same brake rotor issues that many others have reported. Thankfully, the dealership replaced them with larger ones under warranty. As for head space, I'm 6'3

You've had this car for two years and have driven 25500 miles so far, and it's been excellent. You've been diligent in servicing it, changing the oil every 5000 miles, rotating the tires, and getting 32 hwy and 22 city. The only issue you've had was with the rotors, which were replaced under warranty at 12000 miles, and the dealership even gave you a loaner for the day. You're really enjoying the Sirius radio, and the car handles wonderfully in snow and rain. It has plenty of pickup when getting on the expressway, and you love the styling. You get compliments on it all the time. While it's not a sports car or a muscle racer, it's a great daily driver, and treating it as such will make it very reliable.
-
It sounds like you really love your new car! The new body style is great and it seems like you're enjoying everything about it.

I leased my Sebring when they were brand new to the showrooms. It was a great car that handled well and had great features like Sirius satellite radio, a 6 in-dash CD player, and most importantly, UConnect. I found it much easier to use than the Trailblazer I had. The four-cylinder engine had more than enough power to take us where we were going, and in the year and a half I had the car, I had no problems to report. Although, the greatest concern with the car is safety. Unfortunately, the car was in an accident which rendered it a complete loss. The car was hit head-on, and the airbags never went off. Thankfully, my children weren't in the car, but I did suffer chest pain from hitting the steering wheel.

This car reminds me of the American version of the Yugo. Unfortunately, my wife has had some issues with it in the past six months. The serpentine belt has been replaced three times, and the air conditioner compressor has been replaced twice. Additionally, the gear shift got stuck in park when she parked on a slight incline, and the front bumper has separated from the panels above because it is attached with flimsy bolts. The panel under the motor is missing, probably fell off on the highway somewhere. The interior is made of cheap plastic and can be noisy when idling. It's a shame that Chrysler, a company that has been bailed out twice by the American taxpayer, is struggling to sell cars of good quality.

It seems like the engineers at Chrysler could have taken a bit more time to overhaul this car. With a little more thought, this car could have been made more elegant. The interior could have been less retro disco era and more spacious with comfortable seats. It would have been great if they had given us more leg room too. The 2.7 engine lacks the necessary power. They could have easily offered two options, the 4 cylinder or the other 6 cylinder, instead of the 2.7. Additionally, the moon roof could have been a bit bigger. Considering that the 300 M & Concords were eliminated, there was definitely room for improvement in terms of quality.

Although there have been some challenges with my vehicle, I have been proactive in addressing them. When the shifter was stuck in park, I had it towed to the dealership and they were able to fix it within a week. I have noticed some unusual sounds from the engine and brakes, but I have taken it in for regular maintenance to ensure that any issues are addressed promptly. Recently, the alternator needed to be replaced, but I was able to find a replacement within a reasonable timeframe and cost. While I have had some concerns, I am confident in my ability to maintain and care for my vehicle.

This car has had several issues since I purchased it with less than 100 miles. Despite taking it back to the dealership eight times, the problems with the check engine light, sunroof/spoiler, and noises from the engine and power steering persist. Unfortunately, the dealership has been unable to resolve these issues and has suggested that they are inherent to the car's design. Based on my experience, I would not recommend purchasing this car if you are looking for a quiet ride. Additionally, I have noticed a significant crack where the bumper meets the rest of the car, which will require further attention.
