2009 Chrysler Sebring problems
The Chrysler Sebring (/ˈsiːbrɪŋ/ SEE-bring) is a line of mid-size automobiles that was sold from 1995 through 2010 by Chrysler. Three generations of convertibles, two generations of sedans, and two generations of coupes were produced. Although the coupe shared the same name and some styling cues, it was mechanically unrelated to the other Sebring models.
The Sebring line was introduced in 1995 with the Chrysler Sebring coupe. It was the replacement for the Chrysler LeBaron coupe. In 1996 the convertible was introduced, replacing its LeBaron counterpart as well. For 2001, both body styles were redesigned and a sedan version was offered, replacing the Chrysler Cirrus. The coupe was discontinued after 2005 with no replacement model planned.
The redesigned sedan was introduced for 2007, and a convertible the following year. New options included all-wheel drive on sedans and an available retractable metal top for the convertible. All Sebring models were replaced by the Chrysler 200 for the 2011 model year.

- Summary: CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 91 MY 2009 SEBRING AND DODGE AVENGER EQUIPPED WITH 2.4L ENGINE PASSENGER VEHICLES. A COMPATIBILITY ISSUE BETWEEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SOFTWARE AND FUEL PUMP MODULE CAN RESULT IN THE FUEL GAUGE OVERSTATING THE ACTUAL FUEL TANK LEVEL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE MAY RUN OUT OF FUEL WHEN THE GAUGE INDICATES THAT THERE IS STILL FUEL REMAINING IN THE TANK.
- Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

As a mom, it's great that you have a spacious trunk for all your travel needs. The I-connect system sounds like a fantastic feature for hands-free talking, and the retractable hard-top is so easy to use. It's great to hear that you get lots of compliments on the car's appearance, both with and without the top down. The fact that you can download your CD's to the music system 20g hardrive is a great feature too. Just pull up the Jukebox and pick your music. Enjoy your new ride!

Unlike Edmund's review and the other reviews, I personally did not find anything that looks cheap or of poor quality. However, I did notice that some pieces in the interior could be improved. After reading some negative reviews, I was initially concerned, but the car has grown on me. I tested several cars in this segment, including the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, and Kia Optima. The Sebring stood out to me for its quiet and smooth ride, although the Altima had a more powerful 2.5L engine. Overall, the Sebring is a very nice mid-size sedan with an aerodynamic design, smart intuitive features, and a powerful I-4 engine. The seats are also of high quality and very comfortable. Additionally, the car is very stable and fuel-efficient, making it a great choice for those looking for an economic option.

I am the proud original owner of my Sebring, which I bought in new condition with only 60 miles on the clock. I got a fantastic deal during the 2008 recession, paying only about $18k for a $27k sticker price. She still runs like a dream, even after 13 years, and I have had no problems with her reliability. While the hardtop and mechanism for retracting it add some weight to the car, the 2.7L engine is more than capable of handling it. She may not be a high-performance sports car, but she is perfect for daily driving, reaching 60 in a respectable 6-8 seconds. One of the coolest things about her is the massive trunk room, which is even more impressive with the top up. I looked at the Mustang convertible when I was car hunting, but the Sebring's trunk room is far superior. With her top down, she still has plenty of room for several full bags of groceries. In my opinion, the 2008 Sebring is the perfect compromise between the sporty look of a convertible and the comfort of a family car. I average about 20 MPG in combined city/highway driving and have topped out at 28 MPG on long trips with freeway driving. Even with mostly in-town driving, I still average around 18 MPG, both with the top up and with the top down. While I would like her to have a bit more horsepower, I'm not willing to sacrifice MPG for it. Overall, the Sebring is a total package, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.Sometimes I compare current model convertibles and ask myself if I'd trade her for one, and even though they may have a few more bells and whistles as technology progresses, so far I've always answered no. I love my car. My girl (I named her Marie) has been well maintained, not abused, and has been a great companion for my needs and adventures all these years. I look forward to as many years together as she'll give me in the future.

I believe the car has a sleek and sexy design that is perfect for a woman. However, the car is quite heavy, with heavy doors and trunk. I have experienced some minor issues with the car jerking at slow speeds. Perhaps an improvement could be made by adding a convenient place to store sunglasses when the top is up, as well as a way to reduce glare on the touch screen when watching a movie. I absolutely adore my car, which was a gift for my 40th birthday, and I constantly turn heads on the road. The hardtop convertible is like having two cars in one.

Hi there! I've had my car for 2.5 years now and it's been great so far! It's a really fun car to drive and has more interior room than almost any other convertible on the road. I don't understand why some people give it bad reviews. Sure, it may not be a Mercedes or BMW, but for the price, I could buy two of them! It currently has 43,000 miles and has only needed regular service.

The car has experienced several issues such as transmission whining, steering rack failure, worn-out struts and shocks, and groaning drive seat motors. Additionally, there have been evap system leaks and spark plug issues. These problems seem to be common among Chrysler products from 2007-2011. As a loyal Chrysler customer, I am disappointed with the quality of this car and hope that the company will take steps to improve their products in the future.

I bought my car in June 2007. Unfortunately, two weeks after purchasing it, the automatic top got stuck in the up position and I couldn't drive it. I had to put it on a flatbed and have it towed, which was quite frustrating. To make matters worse, the exact same thing happened two months later, and I had to get it towed again, in the rain! Since then, I've had two recalls on the relay switch for the same problem. While I love the way the car looks, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. During this past year, I haven't been able to really enjoy the vehicle, since every time I put the top down, I close my eyes and have to pray that it doesn't get stuck again. Additionally, it does a lot of sputtering, and I've never been able to find the problem. I hope this helps!

This car has a good interior, but it's not a super-fast car. It can't go from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye. I own one and I like it. The speakers are loud, so you don't have to replace them. The braking is good, and the acceleration is OK. Overall, I would give this car a 6.8 out of 10.

As loyal Chrysler buyers, my wife and I were excited to purchase this vehicle due to its great styling and convertible feature. However, we have unfortunately experienced a number of issues with the car over the past 2 years, resulting in 12 trips to the repair shop. These issues have included brake lights coming on intermittently, starting getting stuck, front-end/steering noise, stuck door locks, stalling, recalls and interior fit issues. We are currently working with Chrysler assistance to resolve these issues and find a solution that works for us. Safety is our top priority and we believe that addressing the front-end problems is crucial for the safe operation of the vehicle. We are hopeful that we can come to a resolution that is fair and satisfactory for all parties involved.
