2001 Chrysler Sebring problems
The Chrysler Sebring (/ˈsiːbrɪŋ/ SEE-bring) is a line of mid-size automobiles that was sold from 1995 through 2010 by Chrysler. Three generations of convertibles, two generations of sedans, and two generations of coupes were produced. Although the coupe shared the same name and some styling cues, it was mechanically unrelated to the other Sebring models.
The Sebring line was introduced in 1995 with the Chrysler Sebring coupe. It was the replacement for the Chrysler LeBaron coupe. In 1996 the convertible was introduced, replacing its LeBaron counterpart as well. For 2001, both body styles were redesigned and a sedan version was offered, replacing the Chrysler Cirrus. The coupe was discontinued after 2005 with no replacement model planned.
The redesigned sedan was introduced for 2007, and a convertible the following year. New options included all-wheel drive on sedans and an available retractable metal top for the convertible. All Sebring models were replaced by the Chrysler 200 for the 2011 model year.

- Consequence: SEPARATION OF THE BALL STUD FROM THE SOCKET OF THE BALL JOINT HOUSING WOULD ALLOW THE CONTROL ARM TO COLLAPSE AND THE WHEEL TO FOLD IN CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.
- Remedy: QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE WILL REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 9, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE AT 1-800-493-4128.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it since spring of 2002 and I still absolutely love driving it! It's been such a reliable car, I've only had to change the brake pads and fluids at 50,000 miles and the tires twice in 60,000 miles (other than oil changes). It still runs smoothly and has plenty of power. This car is the perfect balance between performance and practicality. I've even moved apartments twice and was able to transport all my stuff in this car! The back seat is really spacious and the sound system is just GREAT. I didn't expect to still love the car this much after 4 and a half years, and I still get compliments on it. Thanks for letting me share!

You have a truly exceptional ride on your hands! The smoothness and quality of the drive are unparalleled, and I can tell you've had a lot of experience with different vehicles. The power and handling are excellent, and the stopping ability is top-notch. Despite all of this, there isn't a lot of noise or flash, just a fine tune from the exhaust and engine. With the power-to-weight ratio, you can get an impressive 23-27 mpg even when driving in the fast lane. Your K&N filter, Z-Max, airflow director, Valvoline Durablend, and +1 Toyo Z-rated tires all contribute to this. You've even taken it to Laguna Sega and Infineon raceways with great success! And for the evenings, the leather, distinctive style, and Indigo color are sure to impress anyone. Well done!

Congratulations on your first convertible! It sounds like you had a great experience with the power top, which worked perfectly without any problems. It's great that you took care of the car by replacing the top seal and rotors. Although the brakes were not strong, the car was still comfortable and had many nice options. It was also peppy to drive and smooth on the highway. Thank you for sharing your experience, although it's unfortunate that the engine began to smoke at 45k miles and mechanics said it was a goner. It's important to consider long-term quality issues when making an investment. Overall, it's great to hear that you enjoyed the car and top-down driving.

There is only one issue with this car: the wind noise is extremely high when the top is up. You may hear a low roaring wind noise from the top front and a whistling noise from around the windows. It can sound like you're at the airport watching jets take off! The loud wind noise is due to poor sealing with the top front clips and the rubber seals around the windows not sealing tightly. The dealership has adjusted the windows and the top front clips, which greatly reduced the noise, but unfortunately, it came back after a few days of driving. Interestingly, it's actually quieter driving with the top down! Before you make a purchase, we recommend taking it down the freeway with the top and windows up to make sure yours doesn't also sound like you're in a wind tunnel.

I bought my Chrysler Conventry used with 10k miles and now it has 62k. I use it every day! Although I have had some minor issues, most of them were covered under warranty and my car still purrs like a kitten. I drive it every day to and from work and on trips, and I get 31 mpg on the highway and 21-22 mpg in town. I used the dealer while it was under warranty and now I have an honest mechanic. I have replaced the brakes twice because I am hard on them, and the seal went on the transmission, but it was no biggie. It drives great, looks great, and the inside looks brand new. I make sure to do regular maintenance to keep it in top shape.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. Unfortunately, I had to bring it back to the dealer for a whining engine sound before I even hit 500 miles, and it ended up being the first of many visits. It's been frustrating dealing with the poor quality construction. Now, with 45K on the car, I need a new transmission. I'm disappointed to say that this will be my last Chrysler ever. On the bright side, the car looks great when it's not moving!

This 2001 LXi has been well-maintained with only 57K miles in 6 years. Although some parts have been replaced since the 2-year mark, including wheel bearings, radio, A/C blower, sway bar links, tie rods, upper control arm, transmission control module, and fuel system serviced several times, the car has been taken care of. The transmission leak has been fixed twice, and it now needs O-rings and fuel rail. While this is frustrating, it is important to note that these issues are not uncommon with the Chrysler 2.7l V6. I am considering selling the car, but I will make sure to disclose all necessary information to potential buyers.

I purchased my convertible new and enjoy driving it with the top down but it needs better suspension for bumpy roads. The engine is quiet but having a convertible makes it noisy. I have had some leaking from the top and rear defroster not working. I have 35000 miles and it has been reliable. But I am disappointed of the poor resale value of these vehicles. Chysler has a good visual look but in- town ride is rough.

Hello! I wanted to share my experience with my Sebring convertible. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with the heat and other things since the day I drove it off the lot. However, thanks to the lemon law, I was able to arbitrate and win a new convertible built just for me in the factory. Recently, I had an issue with the head gasket and had to have the engine replaced, which was a bit frustrating. Overall, it's been a bit of a bumpy ride, but I'm hopeful things will improve. Thank you for listening!

I have been experiencing issues with my Sebring since the beginning, and unfortunately, these problems persist even now in 2005. Here is a list of the issues I have faced: 1) The rear view defroster has been repaired 10 times and is currently being fixed again. 2) The left rear ball joint failed while my mother was driving on a major highway. 3) The wheel bearings have been replaced. 4) The tire rods needed to be replaced. 5) Both left and right door straps have been repaired twice. 6) The airbag light has been fixed three times, and it turns out that the passenger side seat belt receiver is the cause. 7) The factory-installed radio system overheats and malfunctions, and has been replaced. I hope this information helps in addressing these issues. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
