2006 Chrysler Sebring problems
The Chrysler Sebring (/ˈsiːbrɪŋ/ SEE-bring) is a line of mid-size automobiles that was sold from 1995 through 2010 by Chrysler. Three generations of convertibles, two generations of sedans, and two generations of coupes were produced. Although the coupe shared the same name and some styling cues, it was mechanically unrelated to the other Sebring models.
The Sebring line was introduced in 1995 with the Chrysler Sebring coupe. It was the replacement for the Chrysler LeBaron coupe. In 1996 the convertible was introduced, replacing its LeBaron counterpart as well. For 2001, both body styles were redesigned and a sedan version was offered, replacing the Chrysler Cirrus. The coupe was discontinued after 2005 with no replacement model planned.
The redesigned sedan was introduced for 2007, and a convertible the following year. New options included all-wheel drive on sedans and an available retractable metal top for the convertible. All Sebring models were replaced by the Chrysler 200 for the 2011 model year.

The car has less than 50,000 miles on it and I don't understand how a front end (ball Joint) can go wrong that quickly. The only warning I had was a squeaking in the front end. Is this something normal? The mechanic said that there was a RECALL on this problem. Since I bought it used from a Chrysler dealer you would think they would clue me to the problems. HA HA.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO OIL LEAK IN VEHICLE ENGINE AREA. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE WATER PUMP AND TIMING BELT WERE REPLACED ON JANUARY 27, 2015 AFTER WHICH, AN OIL LEAK DEVELOPED. AFTER TWO CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL REPLACEMENTS THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM APPEARED SERIOUS ENOUGH TO CONTACT CHRYSLER ABOUT A FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY A PROBLEM WHICH RESULTED IN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM AS CRANKSHAFT END PLAY RESULTING IN OIL SEAL PERFORMANCE AND LEAKAGE. - Summary: QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE IS RECALLING CERTAIN AFTERMARKET BALL JOINTS SOLD FOR USE ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE SOCKET MAY HAVE BEEN EXCESSIVELY HARDENED WHICH COULD CAUSE IT TO CRACK NEAR THE RETAINING RING GROOVE ALLOWING THE BALL STUD TO SEPARATE UNDER IMPACT LOAD. THE SUBJECT BALL JOINTS WERE SOLD AS FOUR PART NUMBERS, D10945, D10946, G10945, AND G10946. THE AFFECTED CONTROL ARMS, D10945 AND D10946, ARE STAMPED WITH THE FOLLOWING DATES ON THE BALL JOINTS: 134308, 135708, 100109, 102709, 104109, 105509, 107609, 108909, 110309, 113209, AND 116609. THE G10945 AND G10946 ARE THE SAME PART AS THE D10945 AND D10946 RESPECTIVELY. THEY ARE LABELED DIFFERENTLY DEPENDING ON THE AFTERMARKET CUSTOMER.
- Consequence: SEPARATION OF THE BALL STUD FROM THE SOCKET OF THE BALL JOINT HOUSING WOULD ALLOW THE CONTROL ARM TO COLLAPSE AND THE WHEEL TO FOLD IN CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.
- Remedy: QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE WILL REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 9, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE AT 1-800-493-4128.

THE SEAL ON MASTER CYLINDER CAN FAIL AND LEAK BRAKE FLUID.
- Consequence: LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID CAN RESULT IN POOR BRAKING PERFORMANCE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
- Remedy: CARDONE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER TO REPURCHASE ANY DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDERS. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING APRIL 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT CARDONE AT 1-800-777-4780.

I recently acquired my Sebring and have already put on quite a few miles. It's been great for my wallet, averaging over 30 MPG consistently. The car handles really well and is both easy and fun to drive. I receive many compliments on the car's look and color, especially when the standard rims are clean. Although it had 115k miles when I got it, it has been easy on my wallet so far. As long as I keep up with maintenance, I expect it to be a great ride for a while!

I recently purchased a new car and it has been incredibly reliable. I did have to make one fairly major repair in the 12 years I've owned it, which was to replace the cam position sensor at a cost of $375. I learned that having a heavy foot on the brake pedal can cause issues with the rotors, which I had to replace twice. One complaint I have is that there is some rust on the rocker panels, with a few small spots rusted through. Although the car has always been garage kept, this can be a problem in the winter when snow on the car melts in the warm garage, causing moisture to be present and leading to rust. Another issue I have is that the maintenance charges at the Chrysler dealer are quite high. I paid well over $1,000 to replace the timing belt and water pump when required. Additionally, the car isn't handling rough roads as well as it did when it was new and could use a set of front and rear shocks. However, all in all, I can't complain too much.

I'm so glad with both the vehicle and the dealership! They were able to trade the radio to exactly what I wanted. There are lots of good nooks for all my belongings, and the center console storage is even bigger than my 95 Mazda 626. The trunk is a good size and has a place for a full-sized spare. The A/C is nice and cold, and the remote trunk release is a great feature too. Overall, I'm very pleased. I really like the lines on this car, and I hope it will hold up as well as my 626 did, which I had for nearly 12 years.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share our experience with our '06 Sebring convertible that we bought in Naples, Florida. We put about 25,000 miles on it while living in Florida and didn't have any mechanical problems to speak of. However, after moving to Atlanta, Georgia for work, we encountered a lot of potholes which caused the windows, roof, and doors to rattle. Unfortunately, the rattles became constant and quite bothersome. We think it's a combination of two things: keeping the top down all the time in Florida and the lousy city streets in Atlanta. Overall, it's a great car, but if rattles bother you, this may not be the car for you. We've decided to trade it in for a new sedan, but we haven't had any mechanical problems to speak of. It's just a bit too noisy for our liking. Thanks for listening!

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my latest car purchase. Since 1968, I've owned 23 new cars, ranging from compact to luxury, both foreign and domestic. Unfortunately, my latest purchase has not lived up to my expectations. It has been quite unreliable and has not performed well, to say the least. In fact, my wife refuses to drive it and I wouldn't feel comfortable taking it on a long trip. I just wanted to share my thoughts with you and see if you had any advice or recommendations. Although I have owned this car for three years, I have experienced a multitude of issues. Despite the gear shift locking up on me, I decided to purchase the car. Since then, I have spent almost $2000 on repairs. The gear shift was repaired under warranty, but shortly after the warranty expired, another part needed to be replaced. The transmission and sensors were also replaced under warranty, but I had to pay $500 for the censors. Additionally, I had to pay $900 to fix a gas tank leak. Although I had the brakes replaced, the car still makes a lot of noise. It is frustrating to have an unreliable car, and I have decided to trade it in for a new one.
