2005 Chrysler Sebring problems
The Chrysler Sebring (/ˈsiːbrɪŋ/ SEE-bring) is a line of mid-size automobiles that was sold from 1995 through 2010 by Chrysler. Three generations of convertibles, two generations of sedans, and two generations of coupes were produced. Although the coupe shared the same name and some styling cues, it was mechanically unrelated to the other Sebring models.
The Sebring line was introduced in 1995 with the Chrysler Sebring coupe. It was the replacement for the Chrysler LeBaron coupe. In 1996 the convertible was introduced, replacing its LeBaron counterpart as well. For 2001, both body styles were redesigned and a sedan version was offered, replacing the Chrysler Cirrus. The coupe was discontinued after 2005 with no replacement model planned.
The redesigned sedan was introduced for 2007, and a convertible the following year. New options included all-wheel drive on sedans and an available retractable metal top for the convertible. All Sebring models were replaced by the Chrysler 200 for the 2011 model year.

- Components: AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS
- Summary: WHEN YOU PUSH THE HORN IT WILL NOT TURN OFF. I PULLED THE FUSE OUT SO THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE HORN HAVING A MIND OF ITS OWN. MY FIX WAS TO PURCHASE A SWITCH ABOUT $4-5 AT THE AUTO STORE AND REWIRE THE HORN IN ON MY OWN. IT LOOKS A LITTLE TACKY, I PUT THE SWITCH UNDER THE TURN SIGNAL, BUT IT IS FAR BETTER THAN BEING IN TRAFFIC OR AT A LIGHT AND HAVING THE HORN GO OFF FOR 5 MINUTES. STRAIGHT. I NEVER TOOK IT IN BUT I AM GUESSING IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE HORN SWITCH WHICH IS UNDER THE AIRBAG. EXPENSIVE FIX WHICH IS WHY CHRYSLER WILL NEVER PAY TO FIX THE ISSUE.

2005 Chrysler Sebring recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 6 recalls for different components of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring.
- Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain model year 2000-2005 Eclipse vehicles manufactured April 5, 1999, to December 17, 2004, 2001-2005 Eclipse Spyder vehicles manufactured January 19, 2000, to March 18, 2005, 2001-2005 Chrysler Sebring vehicles manufactured April 17, 2000, to February 21, 2005, and 2001-2005 Dodge Stratus vehicles manufactured April 17, 2000, to February 22, 2005. In the affected vehicles, the passenger side sun visor may be folded down in such a position that, if the passenger frontal air bag deploys, the passenger side sun visor may detach.
- Consequence: If the passenger side sun visor detaches and is propelled rearward, there is an increased risk of occupant injury.
- Remedy: MMNA will notify their owners, and Chrysler will notify the Chrysler and Dodge owners. Dealers will install a tether strap to retain the passenger sun visor, free of charge. The recall began on July 20, 2015. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-15-005. Chrysler and Dodge owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R30.

- Components: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
- Summary: QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE IS RECALLING CERTAIN AFTERMARKET BALL JOINTS SOLD FOR USE ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE SOCKET MAY HAVE BEEN EXCESSIVELY HARDENED WHICH COULD CAUSE IT TO CRACK NEAR THE RETAINING RING GROOVE ALLOWING THE BALL STUD TO SEPARATE UNDER IMPACT LOAD. THE SUBJECT BALL JOINTS WERE SOLD AS FOUR PART NUMBERS, D10945, D10946, G10945, AND G10946. THE AFFECTED CONTROL ARMS, D10945 AND D10946, ARE STAMPED WITH THE FOLLOWING DATES ON THE BALL JOINTS: 134308, 135708, 100109, 102709, 104109, 105509, 107609, 108909, 110309, 113209, AND 116609. THE G10945 AND G10946 ARE THE SAME PART AS THE D10945 AND D10946 RESPECTIVELY. THEY ARE LABELED DIFFERENTLY DEPENDING ON THE AFTERMARKET CUSTOMER.
- Consequence: SEPARATION OF THE BALL STUD FROM THE SOCKET OF THE BALL JOINT HOUSING WOULD ALLOW THE CONTROL ARM TO COLLAPSE AND THE WHEEL TO FOLD IN CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.
- Remedy: QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE WILL REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 9, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE AT 1-800-493-4128.

- Components: STEERING:LINKAGES:KNUCKLE:SPINDLE:ARM
- Summary: ON CERTAIN SEDANS AND CONVERTIBLE MODEL VEHICLES, THE RIGHT STEERING KNUCKLE MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DURING THE COMPONENT MANUFACTURING PROCESS.

Negative 2005 Chrysler Sebring car reviews
Positive 2005 Chrysler Sebring car reviews
-
I went to the auto show and tested all the convertibles from $25k to $85k. I really liked the Sebring the best because of its styling and size. You can put 2 sets of golf clubs in the trunk and still fit a cooler or two in there as well. It has all the options of the higher end cars for a lot less money. The ride is really quiet.

Great car to drive! The engine, steering, and braking are all good, and it looks great too. I had a 01 Chevy Malibu before, but I wouldn't recommend those beaters.

I recently purchased an '05 Sebring Touring-Signature Edition. For the money, Camry and Accord couldn't even get close on price. Quality, fit, and finish are excellent. Car has the 2.7 V6, giving it decent performance and excellent fuel economy. Ride and handling are very good. The body styling is very eye-catching and looks great in a dark blue mettalic color. The car is very quiet on the interstate and solidy built. The dash styling, while improved on the '05, still doesn't look as modern as Accord or Camry. However, since, with rebates and the special package, the car cost about $8k less than a comparable Japanese car, I couldn't pass it up.

This is my third Sebring and it is definitely the best one yet. As someone who has owned 9 Chrysler products, I can confidently say that this car offers the best of both worlds. When the top is up, it is a luxurious and spacious 4-seater coupe. But when the top is down, it becomes a sporty and fun-to-drive vehicle. The engine and transmission work together seamlessly, providing a smooth and responsive ride. I'm also impressed with the fuel economy, getting over 31 MPG on the road and 23-24 around town.

I love my Sebring and I would recommend it to anyone. The gas mileage alone is a great reason to buy this car and it's also really fun to drive!

I use the Sebring 4 door 2.7L as a company vehicle. This is actually the second one I've gotten, and I have to say, I've had no problems with either of them - ever! I'm a bit confused as to why Edmunds would slam the interior, though. I mean, have you seen the interior of a Malibu? It's no comparison to the Sebring. I've driven both and I can say with confidence that the Malibu is built like a Yugo compared to the Sebring. The interior of the Sebring is very well screwed together and not at all cheap looking - try to say that about any GM car. The brakes are excellent, and while the torque is a bit lacking, you just have to rev it hard until the engine sounds like it's coming apart. Aside from that, I have to say that Chrysler has really come a long way. I am very pleased with my Sebring, but if I had one request for Chrysler, it would be to put a more powerful engine in this car.

The car could benefit from some improvements. There have been some minor issues with parts failing and occasional engine noise that has been difficult to diagnose. The service experience has not been great. The drive train could be tighter and the braking could be improved. Although many people compliment the car's appearance, I have had some issues with it. I hope that US Auto Makers will invest in domestic quality upgrades instead of buying up imports.

After 14 Chryslers, this is unfortunately my last. While it does get decent fuel economy, my experience with this car has been less than ideal. In just 2 years of ownership, it has spent a full 3 months in the shop for warranty work. As a result, I have decided to switch to a different brand. Although it is a beautiful car, it seems to have had some reliability issues. I did try to sell it, but unfortunately this model depreciates quickly.

I've had this car for almost 5 years now, and while it's not the best car I've ever owned, it's been okay. When I first got it, the A/C was dumping water into the back seat, but thankfully it was covered under warranty. Unfortunately, I got into a wreck not too long ago and the car was pretty badly damaged. The airbag should have deployed, but due to a sensor failure, it didn't. The repair work was good, but ever since then, there's been more road noise from the back door. On the plus side, the engine has good power. However, I did have an issue with a leaky radiator hose that caused the car to overheat and sent smoke into the passenger compartment! All in all, I've put at least $8000 (including the accident) into this car. The accident alone cost $6000. Despite all of this, I still think it's a good car overall.

I have owned two Sebring Convertibles, including this one. While I loved my 1999 model, I have had a different experience with this car. Unfortunately, I have had to bring it in for repairs over a dozen times due to issues with the roof and various parts of the car. Despite attempts to fix the issues, such as repairing the roof, the problems persist. The car has a few design flaws, such as loose parts in the door and rattling windows and vents. Overall, I believe that the car could have been built with higher quality materials and better attention to detail.
