1993 Chrysler Lebaron problems
The Chrysler LeBaron, also known as the Imperial LeBaron, is a line of automobiles built by Chrysler from 1931 to 1941 and from 1955 to 1995. The model was introduced in 1931, with a body manufactured by LeBaron, and competed with other luxury cars of the era such as Lincoln and Packard. After purchasing LeBaron with its parent Briggs Manufacturing Company, Chrysler introduced the luxury make Imperial in 1955, and sold automobiles under the name Imperial LeBaron until 1975. Chrysler discontinued the Imperial brand in 1975, and reintroduced the Chrysler LeBaron in 1977 to what was then Chrysler's lowest priced model.
The "LeBaron" name has since been applied to five different cars built by the Chrysler Division:
- 1977–1981 M-body (mid-size) LeBaron sedan, coupe, and wagon
- 1982–1988 K-body (mid-size) LeBaron sedan, coupe, convertible, and wagon
- 1985–1989 H-body (mid-size) LeBaron GTS hatchback
- 1987–1995 J-body (personal luxury) LeBaron coupe and convertible
- 1990–1994 AA-body (mid-size) LeBaron sedan
The last Chrysler LeBaron was produced in 1995, to be replaced with the Cirrus and Sebring. The LeBaron was one of Chrysler's longest running brands.

I received my LeBaron Convertible as a Father's Day present in 1998. Since then, it has been a reliable car, requiring only routine maintenance such as oil changes, spark plugs, and a distributor cap. The only additional expense was for a fuel pump. On our last two touring vacations, one through the Rocky Mountains and one through Eastern Canada, my kids insisted that we take the LeB instead of our full-size conversion van!

I bought my Lebaron Convertible because I thought it was pretty in green with the tan top. It turned out to be the best car! Although there was a transmission problem when it was about 2 years old, it was quickly replaced and future problems were prevented after I was advised to always use high octane gas. Over the course of 11 years and 103,000 miles, I did routine maintenance like tires and brakes, and had to replace the water pump and a window motor. Unfortunately, last week, the car was totaled when an elderly man failed to yield to oncoming traffic and hit me HARD. Thanks to the seat belt and airbag, I had no major injuries, just bruises. I hope to replace My1Whim with a Twin Whim!

Hey there! I have 3 Mopars - a '74 Charger with a 440, a 2001 Neon, and my daily commute, a '92 LeBaron. While it does have some electronic issues (which seem to be never-ending), it's still a great way to escape the outside world. The car has great low-end torque and is lightweight (only a 3000-pound convertible, that's a skinny lass), which makes it pretty quick. The transmission likes to be told what gear to use, but it still doesn't rev too much past 5650 RPMs. Overall, it's a nice all-around car that prioritizes comfort and topless fun over power and maneuverability. Let me know if you have any questions!

Fun, fun, fun...It's a great first car for any 16-year-old, and it's also great for any age group!

This car is fun and easy to drive, and has a peppy and nice look. The boot covering can be a bit tricky to get in place, and the motor in the side rear windows lasted about 5 years before needing replacement. The transmission was replaced after 9 years, even though the car was driven mostly in town at lower speeds. The mechanic said it was unusual for the transmission to need repair with such low mileage, but sometimes it happens. Despite this, the car has been well taken care of and driven by a little 'old' lady from a mid-sized family town.

I drive this car, my 1991 Honda Accord, and my wife's 2003 Infiniti G35. The G35 and Accord, as well as my father's Taurus, all ride better than this car, which has only 59,000 miles on it. However, this car has a great look and the best CD player. While the ride may not be the best, the pickup is better than my father's Taurus, although not as good as the '91 Accord. 1992 was my lucky year - a son, Clinton elected, and a Chrysler.

Chrysler's transmission problems and poor reliability are unacceptable. We cannot recommend purchasing from them again.
Troy Runolfsdottir 2024-07-19
Your Lebaron has some quirks, such as the automatic transmission, digital dash, and engine, but it still has some great features. The 25 mpg (3L V6) is impressive, and the velour seats are very comfortable. While the handling may not be the best and the styling is a bit outdated, it still has its charm. Although the original Infinity stereo and speakers have failed, it used to sound great.

This car is not recommended due to transmission issues that can arise at 60,000 miles.
Isom Halvorson 2024-06-09
This car is perfect for summer fun! Although the seats are a bit low and visibility can be difficult with the top up, it has plenty of pep and good gas mileage. Electrical problems can be a challenge, but if you have a friend who is good with wiring, you're good to go. I noticed someone mentioned wind noise, but I have to disagree - they must have never owned a Jeep Wrangler! Overall, it's a great car for enjoying the sunshine. Do you have a megaphone? Enyaw!
