2017 Chevrolet Traverse problems
The Chevrolet Traverse is a full-size crossover SUV with three-row seating built by General Motors. It is built on the same platform as the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave, known as the Lambda platform for the first generation, and the C1XX for the second generation. It also shares the C1XX platform with the Cadillac XT6. It is the successor to the TrailBlazer body-on-frame SUV and the Uplander minivan.
The second-generation model debuted in showrooms in the summer of 2017. Starting with the 2019 model year, the Traverse was slotted above the new mid-size Chevrolet Blazer as part of Chevrolet's plans to expand its SUV lineup.
The Traverse name was originally used for a concept car at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but that concept gave way when the Equinox launched for the 2005 model year.

- Summary: The complaint is GM has yet to provide parts for a recall issued in May 2023. It is August 2024. Anyone that drives our 2017 Traverse will/may put their life in real danger if there is an accident where the driver side air bag sends shrapnel out. There doesn't seem to be any urgency on GM's part to provide remedy. GM's recall statement says to REPLACE THE AIRBAG. So far, we have had zero incidents that would cause the airbag to inflate. I've owned the Traverse for about three years now and I still find it to be a smooth and quiet car. The room inside is fantastic and I've had no problems with it. I can easily load my 12-speed bike and my grandson's 20

Great family vehicle! It's incredibly spacious inside and I absolutely love the 3rd row seating. The car runs really well and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
-
I have a 2017 Traverse with 24000 miles. The stereo remains on even after turning off the car and opening the driver door. This issue can be resolved, albeit at a cost of approximately $600-$1000.

Car is dependable and low maintenance. The new version has better gas mileage and more cargo space.

The backup camera quality is unfortunately poor, making it difficult to use. I'm not a fan of several aspects of the vehicle, particularly the stereo and backup technology, which are not as advanced as those in my Mazda CX-9. I regret my purchase.
Dimitri Bergstrom 2024-10-14
The 2017 traverse was great off the lot! However, in only a few years, some serious issues with the exhaust popped up. There were also some electrical issues with the windows, including corrosion in electrical connections (all dry, no water). The back-up camera and wiring also failed, and the car was running rough. Sadly, the build quality is the issue with these cars. On the bright side, the AWD system was great, and I have no complaints as it performed beautifully in the snow. I would not recommend owning it past 150,000km.
Carson Abernathy 2024-08-08
I'm not exactly sure about the trim level as it was a rental with 20k miles. The vehicle drove and handled okay, but I wouldn't say it's particularly strong when passing another vehicle. In fact, everyone riding in the vehicle laughed at how loud the engine got while flooring the gas pedal, but it took a long time to pass a car in a 45 zone with moderate traffic where quickness is sometimes needed to maneuver around vehicles. I would definitely recommend taking it for a test drive with an acceleration test before purchasing this rig, instead of relying on the clearly misguided review that I also laughed at. Additionally, the gas mileage is poor even when not driving with a lead foot.
Colby Braun 2024-07-28
At 95000 miles the transmission went out, but don't worry, we replaced it with a rebuilt one. Other than that, the SUV was great for ride share car and we even upgraded to the 2020 model!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2017 car. While I love the size and appearance of the car, I have had some issues with it since day one. Unfortunately, the dealer has not been very helpful and has dismissed my concerns. It's frustrating, especially as a woman, but thankfully my father has been able to help me out. Despite these issues, I do appreciate the spacious interior of the car. However, the gas mileage could definitely be better. Additionally, I have noticed that the light dimmer doesn't always work properly, which can be a bit of a safety concern. Overall, I think there are some areas for improvement, but I still enjoy driving my car. Thank you for listening to my experience!
