I've owned a 2024 Trax 2RS for 6 months now. The car has been trouble free and is a tremendous value for the money. Fit and finish is excellent for a car in this price range. It has adequate power and performs head and shoulders above anything with a CVT transmission.

You lose the ability to monitor your speed digitally and it causes issues with safety because it will change in and out at random times and you are forced to change your attention to the needle instead of focusing on the road. No warning lamps or trouble codes present. I have not contacted the manufacturer but have had a mechanic inspect it and he cannot find a cause but thinks possibly is an electric short or fault module. This began happening in June 2024 and is now getting worse and very unreliable.

- Summary: I am not sure of what actual component(s) failed, but I do know that a brake line that had braided steel broke and spewed brake fluid failed- this line comes off the master cylinder to ABS module. Mechanic attempted replacement and there is still no pressure in the brake line. Mechanic believes it is the brake booster now that caused the line failure to occur. The vehicle and components are available for inspection. What happened was that when I was driving on a city road at 35 MPH, a vehicle in front of me was driving reckless and when I changed lanes I approached a traffic signal that changed to yellow and when I went to slow i felt a pop in the brake pedal and the pedal went all the way to the floor and i was unable to stop when the light changed to red and rolled through the intersection. I was able to finally stop approximately 300 feet after applying the brakes. There were no warning indicators or lamps that illuminated prior to this occurring and as a result of the brake failure a collision was narrowly avoided.

Which those 2 things don't connect in any way I know, they are 2 different systems. Then I went to a local auto parts store, AutoZone. We check the engine code and it was an emissions issue. It was my vapor canister purge valve malfunction. The other thing that this issue cause a rough start when you 1st the car in the morning. That sometimes it causes the stabli-track alert on the dashboard to come on, for a couple of moments. The reason Im contacting you about this. Is because that the app is telling the customer me that there is 2 issues that specific issue comes on and that if no fix right away. The rough start up will cause the stabli track alert to come on. - Summary: The initial problem was a defective shifter. It took over a month for a Chevrolet service department to get the vehicle in and fix the problem. By the time I brought the vehicle in to fix the shifter, the transmission was hesitating to switch gears, jerking at highway speeds and overall failing to shift and accelerate properly. This high speed jerk causes the seatbelt to lock up and hit my chest-causing pain while driving. This defect has caused pain, soreness and stiffness in my chest and neck. Dealership 1 (coggin Buick gmc of orange park- Jacksonville,fl) was notified upon drop off and did not fix the transmission issue. They claimed the only issue they found was the shifter. Dealership 2(Gordon Chevrolet- orange park fl) has made 3 attempts to locate and repair the problem and were “unable to duplicate the concern ” I have additional documentation from dealer 3(carmax Jacksonville west-Jacksonville, fl) where they have duplicated the concern 3 times on a 1 hour test drive. Chevrolet/General Motors are not taking accountability despite the vehicle still being under warranty.

- Summary: I'm contacting nhtsa to make a recall request on chevys 2020 trax . less than 3 years old and has 23,300 miles , the chevy trax needed both control arms, both side tie rod ends , 2 alignments. I'm going to say to nhtsa I think chevy didn't manufacture the 2020 trax with strong enough front suspension and steering parts. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The both front bottom control arms . I asked the ourisman dealership to give them to me after the repair was paid they didn't give . and the ourisman dealership said it was only one bad inner tie rod end but both where bad . I had the tie rod ends replaced at independent service center and they kept and gave me the old bad tie rod ends. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If these parts broke off during driving would be a deadly crash of multiple vehicles especially on a interstate. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes by to ourisman dealerships and one independent service center. - Summary: This is the either 5th or 6th complaint for this vehicle. I am making after almost 6 months, most of which my car has been in the dealership. The brakes locked up in the parking lot at my bank, I noticed the signs that it was about to lock up and pulled into the parking lot before it threw a code. I was in fact on the phone with the dealership when it happened. They sent their tow truck and as of today the car has now been in their possession for 3 weeks. I got a call from the dealership telling me they are replacing the brake booster. This car now has over 2,700.00 in new parts, this doesn't count the labor cost. This includes, coil pack, plugs, master cylinder, fuse box, abs module and related pressure valve and brake switch. The manager said they are running out of ideas and parts to replace. When I asked him what happens if this still doesn't fix it, he said that that situation was to unheard of to consider. I pointed out that if the dealership can't find the problem then GMC needs to step up because I still have 3 years left to pay for this car and that eventually there either have already been others who've died or there will be in the future, because unless this car is defective, it can't be the only one like this. I wonder how many people have died from this and it just wasn't caught that this problem caused it. I also explained that my next step would be to find a lawyer.

- Summary: This is the 5th time my car has broken down with this problem, the brakes lock up on the highway and the "stabilitrak" service light comes on. (suspension) This time there was a gasoline tanker right behind me. If this man hadn't been such an experienced tanker driver, I would now be a bloody spot on the highway, my kids would be without their mom, my husband widowed and my grandchildren would have to be happy just hearing stories about me. I would be in the local grave yard, six feet under. So far, I have had a new fuse block, master cylinder, coil pack with plugs, abs module, pressure valve and a new brake switch. That was as of 2 weeks ago, my car broke down again last night, as reported above. My car, which I just made a payment of $635.00, and is just now at 51,000 miles is less than 3 years old. I am truly afraid to drive it, I don't know who to contact at Chevrolet or GMC there has to be some kind of recourse or are they not able to fix the BRAKES on a car???

- Summary: This is the second complaint I have filed, but it is the 3rd time my car has been at the dealership for the same thing. The brakes lock up without warning and the traction control error light and stabilitrak error light come on. This time the transmission didn't go into limp mode it just shut down. The 1st repair, dealership told me that it was a corroded fuse block. I paid to repair that. The day the car was released back to me, it broke down, required towing 3 miles after I left the dealership. I towed it back. They said they couldn't find problem, I told them to drive exact same route, they did, it locked up again. Mechanic then said the master cylinder was binding up on the inside and it was replaced. Six weeks later it failed the same way again, had it towed. Dealership said it was the abs module and a valve, replaced those. They put a rush on it as it was right before Christmas, two days after Christmas it broke down again. It is currently at the dealership, and I was told that they can't figure out what's wrong with it????? Each time it has locked up, I have been in traffic, once doing 70 mph highway, once doing 60 mph highway I managed to pull off but then blocked an on ramp to a bridge on a highway, once going uphill in town at 35 mph. Each time I narrowly missed hitting other people and once almost got run over by a gasoline tanker. In any of these events I could have either died or killed someone else. Each time there was no warning at all, no lights, noises or anything. Even if I get my car back, I will be terrified to drive it. My husband said, and I quote, "I will bleed through my eyes before I buy another Chevy" end quote. My local dealership is doing everything they can, but I am getting frustrated, because sometimes they have a loaner car and sometimes they don't. I work two jobs, since my husband got sick with covid-19 last year and spent 10 days on a ventilator. He can't work like he used to, so I am picking up the slack, please help us.

- Summary: My car brakes locked down while I was driving home from work, at 70 mph, posted speed limit. I got it to the dealership, it started out that it was a broken wire, now they tell me I need a new fuse box and it's not covered. My car was purchased in may of 2020 and has 47k miles on it. The repairs have gone from 412.00 dollars, not including the tow bill to 719.00 dollars, not including the tow bill. A fuse box shorting out at two years old, and locking down the brakes is absurd. I work at a trucking company and have 40+ years experience with no tickets or accidents, I don't know how my car didn't flip forward it stopped so hard, it's hard to think about what would have happened to someone with less driving experience than I have trying to control a car in the same instance. Please check on this, if you need to know, my car is now at Don Hall Chevrolet in Ashland KY, ph. 606-618-9616, my car is in their service center.

Congratulations on your purchase of a 2020 LT! With AWD and only for $19000, that's a great deal. I'm glad to hear that you fit comfortably in the Trax, and it's great to know that the car is solid and gets great mileage for an AWD. It's amazing to hear that it performs so well in the snow too! In my opinion, this is definitely one of the biggest bargains in the US auto market.

The Chevy is the perfect car for me. I find it easy to get in and out of, and it performs well both in town and on the highway. Unfortunately, Consumer Reports did not give it a fair review and spread lies about its performance that are simply not true.

There is so much to love about my Trax! Please don't believe everything you read, especially the negative reviews. I have found that the turbo option is not available, so some reviews may not be accurate. However, the more I drive my Trax, the more I fall in love with it!

I have 10,000 miles on my Trax and it went through some growing pains in the beginning, but the suspension broke in and the stiff frame is actually quite nice. Although the car has a slight body roll when cornering, you get used to it. We've had heavy rains the past few months and the car goes into misfire mode the next day after about five miles. However, the misfire warning goes away when things dry out. Whenever you open up the driver side door in the rain, about a gallon of water runs out from the weep holes. It fills up with water and you get the warning on the dashboard to open and close your driver's side window up and down so it can relearn its parameters. The draining water may seem inconsequential but holds moisture and causes fogging in the winter and will cause premature rust if you do not use the car often enough to drain that water out. The hill assist is a problem and there is a recall on other GM models for this. I park on a hill every day at the same spot and the car tends to roll. If you're stopped at the light and you take your foot off the gas, your car will roll backwards. This is serious and one of the biggest complaints on this model, as you will roll into the car behind you. However, GM posted a bulletin stating it is present but does not affect performance.The air conditioning system may struggle in temperatures over 82 degrees and in full sun, but overall the car is perfect for driving and parking in New York City. It also has a surprisingly spacious interior. While some may not find the car's appearance appealing, I personally think it's quite cute. After driving it for 36,000 miles, I did have to change one set of brake pads, but other than that, there were no additional costs to leasing this car for three years aside from oil changes. Despite some initial complaints, the car has proven to be quite durable. In fact, I ended up buying it off lease for a great price of $14,300. However, at 41,000 miles, the car started using antifreeze at a rate of one gallon per 2000 miles. I am currently investigating the issue and will provide an update soon. According to some blogs, the problem could be caused by a clamp on a hose, a crack in the plastic thermostat housing, or the turbo. Stay tuned for more information.

Additionally, in hot weather, the car struggles on inclines, but this issue seems to resolve in cooler temperatures. The car also has a bumpy shift, and it may be worth checking the transmission. If you plan on storing anything between the front seats, it may slide to the back floor, but a cup in the center back holder can prevent this. The air conditioning and air recirculating buttons have dim lights, making it difficult to tell if they are on or off, especially in sunny weather. The push-button key fob recognition system can be frustrating, as it won't unlock or start if it doesn't detect the fob. The car is also prone to dents and scratches, and the windshield is easily damaged. The tires are an odd size, which can make it difficult to find replacements. Lastly, the display that reminds you not to take your eyes off the road can be distracting. Overall, this car has some quirks that may take some getting used to, but with some adjustments, it can still be a reliable vehicle.I like Chevys, but this car just isn't for me.

If you're in the market for an SUV that comes in a small package, the Trax is definitely worth considering. It offers good visibility, a relatively comfortable ride, and more space than a compact sedan. While the acceleration may not be the fastest, the Trax still provides adequate access to the rear seats and enough room for your groceries and packages. Although the engine may be a bit underpowered, it's still a solid choice. While there may be competitors that do the compact SUV better, the Trax is a great option if you're a Chevy fan.
