2022 Chevrolet Trax problems
The Chevrolet Trax is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors and marketed under the Chevrolet brand since 2013, currently in its second generation.
The first generation model was released globally in 2013 as the smallest, entry-level crossover SUV offering from the brand. Development and production were centered in South Korea by GM Korea. A restyled model was also produced as the Buick Encore in North America and as the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka in Europe.
In several markets, the vehicle was marketed as the Chevrolet Tracker, and as the Holden Trax in Australia and New Zealand. The Trax became available in Canada, Mexico, Germany, South Korea, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, and Europe for the 2013 model year and was released in the United States for the 2015 model year.
In 2019, GM released the replacement of the Trax for China and Latin America, the Tracker. The first-generation Trax continued to be marketed in North America, South Korea, and several other markets until 2022, when it was replaced by the larger second-generation Trax due for the 2024 model year. The second-generation Trax is also marketed in China as the Chevrolet Seeker.

Common 2022 Chevrolet Trax problems
The 2022 Chevy Trax is a compact SUV that has been praised for its sporty design and fun driving experience. However, like any vehicle, it is not without its issues. Based on complaints from owners, the most common problems with the 2022 Chevy Trax include:
- Body roll problems: Many drivers have reported that the 2022 Chevy Trax has more body roll than they are used to, meaning that the vehicle tends to lean more to one side or the other when going around sharp turns. This can lead to a feeling of instability and discomfort for some drivers.
- Transmission issues: Another common complaint from 2022 Chevy Trax owners is transmission problems. Drivers have reported that the vehicle jerks and accelerates while they are trying to drive it, and in some cases, it refuses to shift into reverse. These issues can be particularly problematic and may require costly repairs.
- Oil leak faults: Finally, some owners of the 2022 Chevy Trax have reported issues with oil leaks in the system. These leaks are most common in the turbocharged versions of the Trax and can lead to further damage to the system and even fires if not addressed promptly.
While these issues are certainly concerning, it is important to note that the 2022 Chevy Trax has not been on the market for very long, and there is limited data available on its long-term reliability. However, based on similar models and the Chevrolet brand's overall reliability, it is expected to have average reliability when compared to other new cars.
If you are considering purchasing a used 2022 Chevy Trax, it is important to be aware of these common issues and to thoroughly inspect the vehicle before making a purchase. It may also be worth considering purchasing an extended warranty or service contract to help cover the cost of any potential repairs.
In summary, while the 2022 Chevy Trax is a fun and sporty compact SUV, it is not without its issues. Common problems include body roll, transmission issues, and oil leaks, particularly in the turbocharged versions of the vehicle. However, with proper maintenance and inspection, these issues can be addressed and managed over time.

I recently traded in my beloved Cube after 12 years and was looking for something unique with style and the interior room I had gotten used to. Once I saw the new RED HOT Trax LT on the lot, that was it. I've had it for a month now and I like it more each day. It's a great car with a great price and a great color!

I'm a bigger guy, so I don't fit well in smaller vehicles. But this one is different! It's surprisingly roomy, comfortable and fun!

I chose the Trax AWD LS because it was the most affordable SUV-like car available at the dealership. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it rides and handles, especially compared to my previous car, a 2017 Chevy Spark. In city traffic, the Trax is definitely not underpowered. One of my favourite features is the excellent visibility provided by the taller Trax and its large tinted windows. The rear camera is also amazing and saves my neck from strain. The car comes standard with cruise control and power everything, which is a nice touch. The handling is tight and much better than my wife's Chevy HHR hatchback. While the trunk space is adequately large, the rear seat legroom is only suitable for young people. However, the front seats are more comfortable than the HHR. Overall, I am very satisfied with the value, functionality, and comfort of the Trax AWD LS. I hope it will be as durable as my 2011 HHR, which has been amazingly trouble-free for 11 years.

I'm 64 years old and have been driving since I was 9 years old. I absolutely love cars and have owned well over a hundred used cars and trucks, as well as about 20 new ones. I've owned just about every model GM made, Fords, Dodge, Chryslers, Toyotas, Nissans, Kias, VWs, and even a Subaru, just to name a few. I've never put over 50,000 miles on any of them, as I tend to switch them up quite frequently. However, in 2014, I decided I wanted a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan, despite the not-so-great reviews at the time. It turned out to be one of the best cars I've ever owned! I bought it with just 9,000 miles on it, and it now has over 109,000 miles. My wife and I love it so much - it's incredibly comfortable and we can haul just about anything in it. It gets 23 to 25 mpg and has a strong V-6 engine. I even use it to pull my 6 X 12 utility trailer! All I've needed are oil and filter changes, tires, and one set of brake pads at 70,000 miles. I've had no breakdowns or issues whatsoever. I said all that to say this: I just purchased a 2020 Chevrolet Trax LS AWD with cruise control and the 16-inch aluminum wheel option. It was a demo with 2,500 miles, and I paid $16,000 for it. (FYI: The LS is the only model that does not have start-stop technology, which is a very good thing in my opinion.) I drove the car 150 miles from the dealership to my home and was more than impressed. Critics call it choppy and underpowered, but I found the car to be very comfortable and had more than adequate power, even at 70 to 90 mph. The car is also very stable at these speeds. I would compare this to my 2013 KIA Sorento, which cost $24,000 at the time. Of course, only time will tell on the reliability, but I'm fairly confident that the critics are wrong about this one.

This car is smaller than what I've had in a long time, but it has everything I need. The car seat fits in easily, and my elderly parents can get in and out without any problems. The sound system is good, and the seats are comfortable.

I have 10,000 miles on my Trax and it went through some growing pains in the beginning, but the suspension broke in and the stiff frame is actually quite nice. Although the car has a slight body roll when cornering, you get used to it. We've had heavy rains the past few months and the car goes into misfire mode the next day after about five miles. However, the misfire warning goes away when things dry out. Whenever you open up the driver side door in the rain, about a gallon of water runs out from the weep holes. It fills up with water and you get the warning on the dashboard to open and close your driver's side window up and down so it can relearn its parameters. The draining water may seem inconsequential but holds moisture and causes fogging in the winter and will cause premature rust if you do not use the car often enough to drain that water out. The hill assist is a problem and there is a recall on other GM models for this. I park on a hill every day at the same spot and the car tends to roll. If you're stopped at the light and you take your foot off the gas, your car will roll backwards. This is serious and one of the biggest complaints on this model, as you will roll into the car behind you. However, GM posted a bulletin stating it is present but does not affect performance. The air conditioning system may struggle in temperatures over 82 degrees and in full sun, but overall the car is perfect for driving and parking in New York City. It also has a surprisingly spacious interior. While some may not find the car's appearance appealing, I personally think it's quite cute. After driving it for 36,000 miles, I did have to change one set of brake pads, but other than that, there were no additional costs to leasing this car for three years aside from oil changes. Despite some initial complaints, the car proved to be durable and reliable, which is why I decided to buy it off lease for a great price of $14,300. However, at 41,000 miles, the car started using antifreeze at a rate of one gallon per 2000 miles. I am currently investigating the issue and will provide an update soon. According to some blogs, it could be a clamp on a hose, a crack in the plastic thermostat housing, or even a problem with the turbo. Stay tuned for more information.

Although we have experienced an issue with the car not moving after stopping at a red light and shaking violently when attempting to put it in reverse, we are confident in the overall reliability of this compact SUV. We have leased this car for eight months and have been satisfied with its performance aside from this isolated incident.

My Corolla was rear-ended, and I decided to give a domestic carmaker a chance to earn my business. I purchased a 2020 Chevrolet Trax LT AWD, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. Despite being new, it struggled to accelerate and had terrible fuel mileage. Additionally, it required new electrical work and a new radiator at only 40,000 miles. At one point, it even lost all of its oil pressure. Despite my best efforts to maintain it, the Trax was not up to par. As a result, I confidently decided to trade it for a Honda.

My new car had a few issues that needed to be addressed, such as the battery dying and the fan malfunctioning. Despite being under warranty, the service department initially refused to help. However, I persisted and was able to get the issues fixed. While the car is good on gas, I would not purchase it again due to these problems.

If you're in the market for an SUV that comes in a small package, the Trax is definitely worth considering. It offers good visibility, a relatively comfortable ride, and more space than a compact sedan. While the acceleration may not be the fastest, the Trax still provides adequate access to the rear seats and enough room for your groceries and packages. Although the engine may be a bit underpowered, it's still a solid choice. While there may be competitors that do the compact SUV better, the Trax is a great option if you're a Chevy fan.
