2015 Chevrolet Trax problems
The Chevrolet Trax is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors and marketed under the Chevrolet brand since 2013, currently in its second generation.
The first generation model was released globally in 2013 as the smallest, entry-level crossover SUV offering from the brand. Development and production were centered in South Korea by GM Korea. A restyled model was also produced as the Buick Encore in North America and as the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka in Europe.
In several markets, the vehicle was marketed as the Chevrolet Tracker, and as the Holden Trax in Australia and New Zealand. The Trax became available in Canada, Mexico, Germany, South Korea, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, and Europe for the 2013 model year and was released in the United States for the 2015 model year.
In 2019, GM released the replacement of the Trax for China and Latin America, the Tracker. The first-generation Trax continued to be marketed in North America, South Korea, and several other markets until 2022, when it was replaced by the larger second-generation Trax due for the 2024 model year. The second-generation Trax is also marketed in China as the Chevrolet Seeker.

Common 2015 Chevrolet Trax problems
The 2015 Chevrolet Trax has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. One of the most frequently mentioned issues is related to the vehicle potentially rolling down on an incline, suggesting potential transmission problems. This could be a serious concern as it may compromise the safety of the vehicle, especially when parking on a slope.
Another common problem with the 2015 Chevrolet Trax is a faulty air conditioning (A/C) system. While not as severe as transmission problems, a malfunctioning A/C can lead to discomfort during hot weather conditions and may result in repair costs. This issue has been reported by numerous owners, indicating a possible design or manufacturing flaw in the A/C system.
It is important to note that the 2016 Chevrolet Trax has been deemed the worst model year due to hundreds of NHTSA complaints and multiple recalls. Owners of the 2016 Trax faced various electrical and mechanical problems, including a faulty A/C system and serious engine and engine cooling issues, which could lead to engine failure. However, the 2015 Trax, while not as problematic as the 2016 model, still has its share of issues that potential buyers should be aware of.
In summary, the 2015 Chevrolet Trax has common problems related to potential transmission issues and a faulty A/C system. These problems, while not as severe as those found in the 2016 Trax, can still impact the vehicle's safety and comfort. Potential buyers should consider these issues when deciding whether to purchase a used 2015 Trax.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-04-25
- VIN: KL7CJRSBXFB
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I have recently heard what could best be described as a squealing sound. I could also smell fuel inside the vehicle while driving. I thought it was oil that had leaked onto the serpentine belt and had it replaced but the noise continued. Listening closer I realized it was coming from the area around the intake manifold. Searching online I found several YouTube videos and comments from people mentioning loose spark plugs caused their issue. Checking mine I found that two of the four spark plugs were loose enough to not require a wrench to remove them. Tightening them eliminated the noise. I have owned this vehicle since it was brand new and have never asked a mechanic to check or replace spark plugs, nor have I done it myself. I did recently replace the intake manifold, which required removing and reinstalling the ignition coil. I feel like loose spark plugs represent a fire hazard as it allow the fuel to blow past the cylinders and into the engine compartment.

- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Chevrolet Trax vehicles. A joint in one or both of the front lower control arms may have been improperly welded. An improperly welded joint may break, resulting in the partial separation of the lower control arm from the vehicle.
- Consequence: A partial separation of the lower-control arm from the vehicle could cause the attached front wheel to toe outward, impacting the vehicle's handling and steering and increasing the risk of crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right front lower-control arms, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A192261870.

I'm so glad to hear that you love it! It sounds like it's the perfect size for your needs. With only about 18,000 KM on it and being kept in a garage during the winters, it's in great condition. Thank you for sharing!
-
I really appreciate this vehicle more than any I've owned. As an older driver, it sits high and provides a great view of the surroundings. It's also easy to maneuver in tight spaces. The car runs smoothly, shifts seamlessly, and has plenty of power when you need to pass. Additionally, there are plenty of storage compartments, cup holders, and ample space to haul anything I need. I have been driving the 2015 LTZ for 2.5 years now, after purchasing it from its previous owner. Unfortunately, I have experienced more maintenance issues than I had anticipated. Last year, I had to replace the water pump and thermostat due to the engine overheating. More recently, I had to replace the spark plug coils due to jerking during acceleration and idle, and the A/C stopped working. Additionally, the check engine light came on twice due to a faulty thermostat sensor. These repairs were quite costly and have left me feeling unsure about the car's reliability. Despite this, I have enjoyed driving the car and hope to avoid further maintenance issues in the future.

This car is a blast to drive! The turbocharger gives it a real kick, and the auto-start is a lifesaver in the winter. The AWD handles great in the snow and ice, making it a reliable choice for any weather. While the back seat can fit two car seats, the middle seat is a bit cramped. The trunk space is adequate for my needs, and the interior is comfortable and easy to clean, which is perfect for families with kids. However, it's important to note that the 2015 Trax can be expensive to maintain. The engine may require costly repairs, such as replacing the turbocharger system and attached hose system, engine coils, and brake system. In my experience, I've spent over $7000 on engine repairs alone in the two years I've owned the car.

I purchased a used 2015 Chevy Trax in 2017 with around 30k miles on it, and I was pleasantly surprised by how peppy it was. It was perfect for city driving and even decent for road trips, despite lacking cruise control. It also handled well in snowy conditions. However, at around 80k miles, the check engine light came on. After being repaired at a certified repair shop, the check engine light came back on, and this happened repeatedly. It seemed that the turbo was the culprit, and the issue would resurface after a few thousand miles. Unfortunately, my 2015 Chevy Trax is still experiencing problems with the check engine light and the turbo. I recently had the 100k service performed at a Chevy dealership, and it appears to have caused the turbo issues to resurface. My Trax is currently in the shop, and the problem is once again the turbo. I am disappointed that my Chevy Trax has turned out to be a lemon, and I am frustrated with the thousands of dollars I have spent on repairs, especially since I have only driven it for just over 100k miles. I had hoped that this would be a great little commuter vehicle that would last me a long time, but unfortunately, that has not been the case. As a result, I am still paying for repairs and am underwater on the vehicle. The reliability of the 2015 Chevy Trax has been a major letdown, and I cannot recommend it to anyone.

Before making a purchase, it's important to do your research. While I had a less than ideal experience with a pushy salesman and found the interior quality lacking, it's worth considering all factors before making a decision. Additionally, I found that the car had difficulty in snowy conditions and the back seat area was quite cramped. It may be worth exploring other options, such as a KIA, which may offer a better ride and more room. It's always important to be an informed buyer. Best of luck with your decision!

Although the vehicle has a beautiful appearance, it has unfortunately been plagued with numerous issues. Despite my efforts to repair it, the problems seem to persist and have become quite extensive. In fact, I have invested more money into fixing the vehicle than its actual worth. Even after having the air looked at four times, the mechanic informed me that there was nothing more that could be done and suggested that I consider purchasing a different vehicle. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this vehicle to anyone.
