2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer problems
The Chevrolet Trailblazer (9BYC) is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand since 2020. It is the smallest crossover from Chevrolet, slotting below the Trax.
Overview
The Trailblazer was launched on April 16, 2019, at the 18th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition alongside the Tracker, that replaced the outgoing Trax. The Trailblazer is aimed for developed markets, while the Tracker is aimed for emerging markets. Developed by GM Korea, the Trailblazer is assembled in Incheon, South Korea, while the Chinese-market model is produced in Yantai, Shandong, China, by SAIC-GM.
The Trailblazer made its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019, and sales began in early 2020 as a 2021 model year vehicle. There are five trim levels available: L, LS, LT, Activ, and RS. The latter two came standard with dual exhaust and top of the line features. The Activ and RS models also feature a contrasting color roof.
It was launched in the Philippines in October 2021. Imported from South Korea, it notably reused the nameplate from the previous Colorado-based Trailblazer which was discontinued in the same year.
On January 16, 2020, the Trailblazer was launched in South Korea. The Korean-market model is larger in dimension than Trailblazers sold in other markets, with a length of 4,425 mm (174.2 in) and width of 1,810 mm (71.3 in).

Common 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the Chevrolet Trailblazer 2002 to 2009, here are some common problems with the 2009 model:
- Stepper Motors Malfunction: The stepper motors that operate the gauges in the instrument cluster are prone to failure. When these motors malfunction, the gauges may display incorrect readings or stop working altogether. Replacing the defective stepper motor resolves this issue.
- Power Window and Door Lock Switches: The driver-side power window master switch and door lock switches are susceptible to malfunction and may fail due to short circuits. This can lead to the power windows and door locks not functioning properly.
- Transmission Issues: The 4L60E automatic transmissions in these vehicles have a high failure rate, which can result in transmission problems and potential costly repairs.
- Fuel Level Sending Unit: The fuel level sending unit in some vehicles tends to malfunction over time, showing incorrect fuel levels or failing to display accurate readings. This can lead to confusion about the actual fuel level in the gas tank.
- Stereo System Problems: The OEM stereo in the Trailblazer may develop various issues over time, such as speakers only working intermittently, static sound, or CDs getting stuck in the player.
- Blower Motor Resistor: The blower motor resistor can malfunction, causing the heater blower motor to only work at higher speeds, impacting the vehicle's heating and cooling system.
- Front Wheel Bearings: Front wheel bearings in some Trailblazers are prone to premature failure before reaching 100,000 miles, which can affect the vehicle's handling and safety.
- Valve Seat Failure: The valve seats in the cylinder head of the 4.2-liter six-cylinder engine are prone to premature failure. This can lead to a loss of compression in the affected cylinder, resulting in misfires and potential engine performance issues.
- Variable Valve Timing Solenoids: The VVT solenoids can get clogged with sludge if the engine oil is not changed regularly. This can cause poor engine performance, including pinging, hesitation, and reduced power.
- Electromagnetic Fan Clutch: The electromagnetic fan clutch in these vehicles can experience premature failure, indicated by noise and the fan clutch not engaging properly when signaled by the engine control module.
These common problems highlight various issues that owners of the Chevrolet Trailblazer 2009 may encounter, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any signs of malfunction to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and longevity.

Welcome to the TBSS Experience! Our limited production American-made vehicle is truly fine and pretty spectacular all-around. It recreates the feeling of the '60s and early '70s Chevy SS muscle cars, while also offering modern handling, ride, comfort, and convenience features that go well beyond most vehicles in its price-range. We believe that this is the closest you'll come today to getting a true sense of the good old glory days. Thank you for considering our vehicle!

The TrailBlazer is a fantastic SUV that offers great value for money. Despite being priced thousands less than its competitors, it comes packed with amazing features such as phone, directions, and emergency services. The ride is incredibly smooth and comfortable, with Bose speakers, buttery soft leather seats, 2 zone temperature control, and deep tinted windows. Additionally, there is plenty of room inside, even for larger individuals like myself (I weigh 265 pounds). The seats are large and firm, with ample headroom. Overall, the TrailBlazer is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality SUV at an affordable price.

We recently purchased our second TB and overall, I am quite satisfied with the car. However, I did have a bit of trouble with the dealer. Unfortunately, the navigation system was not loaded with the maps/program and when I asked the dealer for assistance, they directed me to the workshop. The workshop seemed a bit confused when I asked for help with the map/software, but eventually we were able to resolve the issue. While the dealer service could use some improvement, I still highly recommend the car itself. By the way, this was the dealer in the State of Qatar, a small but beautiful country in the Arabian Gulf.

Hey there, all you SS enthusiasts! I'm excited to share that Chevy has finally answered back with an SUV that has it all - power, suspension, body style, and all the options you need for cruising at 100mph. I've personally had no issues with the windows rolling up at high speeds (unlike what I read in another review), and the new 4-speed transmission allows for more torque than any 5 or 6-speed could handle. As an owner of a 2002 Camaro SS with a 6-speed manual transmission, I can tell you that I would have loved to have a 4-speed manual - less shifting and more driving! If you're looking for style, comfort, power, and most importantly, SS packages, then I highly recommend buying this SUV now before they're all gone. Personally, I think the Black Granite Metallic paint is the way to go.

If you're searching for a vehicle that offers both comfort and performance, this SUV is definitely worth considering. It's hard to believe that an SUV can provide such impressive power and capabilities. However, if you're in need of a fuel-efficient family vehicle, this may not be the best option for you. But if you're looking for a fast and comfortable SUV, then look no further!

The lumbar support knob and cable cover by the mirror came off, which is unacceptable. The styling leaves much to be desired and the sound system is very poor. Additionally, the locking system can be frustrating as it locks you out if you leave the key in the ignition. These issues need to be addressed with urgency.

I really like this car, but I have been having some trouble with the gas mileage. Unfortunately, I only get about 13 mpg, which is not great. I have taken it in for service, but they say that Trailblazers are known for being gas guzzlers. It costs $65 to fill up my tank, and I usually only get around 300 miles out of it. We have tried using high-performance oil, but it hasn't made much of a difference. Despite the high cost of gas, I do appreciate the smooth ride and powerful engine. However, it does use up a lot of oil and can be expensive to maintain. When it comes to driving in rain and snow, the 4 x 4 feature works really well. Overall, I have put around 10,000 miles on it and it has been a decent car to drive.

My truck has been experiencing violent shaking in the steering and even worse brakes for the past 3 months. Despite taking it to the dealership twice, the problem persists and I do not feel safe driving it, especially with my children. The traction light and warning light keep coming on, but the dealership has assured me that it is not a problem. However, I remain unconvinced and concerned for my safety. As a long-time Honda owner, I regret switching to GM. I believe that my safety should be the top priority and I will continue to seek a resolution to this issue.

Hi there! I've had my Trailblazer for almost a month now, but unfortunately, I've only been able to drive it for two weeks. It's been in the shop three times already because of the check engine light coming on. The first couple of times, they thought it might be a gas cap issue, but now it's been in the shop for several days because of a bad sensor that they had to pull the gas tank to get to. Thankfully, it's covered by the 36,000-mile warranty. If you're interested, after the warranty is over, I might be selling my 08 Trailblazer for cheap. Anyway, on the bright side, I'm enjoying my rental car!

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the 2008 SUV that I purchased two weeks ago. After reading reviews, I was excited to learn that GM claimed this car could tow up to 5200 lbs depending on the rear end. However, I've noticed that when towing my boat and trailer, which weigh 3600 lbs, the car struggles on inclines and won't tow in fourth gear at the speed limit on flat interstate highways. When we contacted GM, they suggested towing in third gear for our upcoming 1300 mile trip to Florida and back, even though we'll be passing through two mountain states where the car will likely be in second gear for at least half the time. I'm concerned that this will be hard on the whole drive train and will diminish the life of the vehicle. It's frustrating to see that GM's 4.2 6 cyl. is rated at 291 hp at 6500 rpm, but the max rpm is 4500. How can you research like that? It's just sick.
