1992 Buick Regal problems
The Buick Regal is a line of mid-size cars marketed by Buick since 1973. For nearly its entire production, the Regal has served as the premium mid-size/intermediate offering of the Buick product range. Introduced as a submodel of the Buick Century, the model line is currently in its sixth generation. From the 1970s to the 1990s, the Regal served as the Buick counterpart of the Pontiac Grand Prix and Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
Originally introduced as a personal luxury coupe, the Regal was later expanded to a full model line. To showcase its success in NASCAR racing, from 1982 to 1987, Buick introduced the Buick Regal Grand National, Regal T-Type, and the limited-production Buick GNX. During the 1990s, while the four-door sedan superseded the two-door coupe entirely, forced-induction engines made their return, with superchargers replacing turbochargers.
For 1999, the Buick Regal inaugurated the sale of GM vehicles in the Chinese market, with the 1997 design lasting through 2008. Following the 2004 model year, Buick retired the nameplate in North America, with the Regal replaced by the Buick LaCrosse.
For 2008, Opel introduced the Opel Insignia as its largest sedan, with Buick rebranding the model line as the Regal for the Chinese market. For 2011, GM reintroduced the Regal to North America, rebranding the Insignia sedan for North America. For 2018, Buick introduced the second-generation Opel Insignia, sourcing all production from Germany; alongside a first-ever liftback sedan, the Regal TourX was the first Buick station wagon in 22 years.
After 2020, as the division shifted away from car model lines, Buick ended sales of the Regal in North America.

One of the most common problems with the 1992 Buick Regal is the key getting stuck in the ignition. This issue is caused by a faulty ignition lock or a malfunctioning wire that leads to the gear shifter. When the transmission is not in park, the ignition lock prevents the key from being removed. However, many owners have reported that they are unable to pull their keys out, even when the transmission is in park. This problem has been reported in Buick Regal models made from 1994 to 2016.

The 1992 Buick Regal also has issues with various sensors and components, including the mass air flow sensor (MAF) and crankshaft position sensor (CPS). Many owners have reported that their vehicles would stutter and stall randomly when driving at various speeds. This can be dangerous, especially if it happens at highway speeds. Replacing the faulty sensor should fix the issue. Replacement mass air flow sensors for the Buick Regal cost around $30 to $70, while crankshaft position sensors cost around $20 to $40.
In addition to these common problems, the 1992 Buick Regal is also known for having issues with the fuel pump and water pump. These issues can result in expensive repairs, so it is important to address them promptly.

Great car! It's very reliable and has decent gas mileage for a V6. However, the V6 is a bit weak at only 140 hp. The ABS is good, but unfortunately, my AC is broken. On the bright side, the sound system is actually really good, even though it doesn't have a tape or CD player. Additionally, it's very comfortable to drive. While the exterior design may not be very stylish, it's still a great car overall!

Hey there! I just wanted to share that my dad got me this car for my sixteenth birthday. He actually bought it from Mark Combs. Isn't that cool?

The 1991 Regal Limited Sedan with the 3.8l engine is exceptionally fast. Mine clocks at 7.1 to 60mph. Although there is a little body roll, it is very responsive and has a luxury feel. It can always haul ass.

Talk about an all around good car... you have it all rolled into one. This fun looking, power driving car is a great first buy for most people out there. It's good on fuel, not very hard to maintain, and a little speed demon on the open highway.... have fun!

You have a real gem with a 3800 engine in your car! It's impressive that it has only 77,000 miles on it, especially for a '91 model. It runs like a dream and has never let you down. With its power and great looks, it's no wonder you're so pleased with it!

I'm glad to hear that you had a positive experience with your vehicle! Although there were some issues with the rear brake calipers (4 wheel disc) that required replacement twice over the next 60-70,000 miles, it's good to know that regular maintenance kept the vehicle running smoothly. It's also interesting to note that there was a class action lawsuit filed due to problems with the rear brakes. Additionally, the parking brake broke sometime after 90,000 miles, but overall it seems like you have had no issues with the vehicle. Thank you for sharing your experience!

When I first saw her, I was blown away! What a car! It made me feel like I had truly arrived, especially coming from a Geo driver who now wishes she still had her old car. I am writing this review because I am so upset about how much money it will cost me, according to the Buick dealership, to get my baby purring again and see if she still has something left in her. I need an entirely new braking system in the Temple Hills area of Maryland, which will cost approximately $1952.00. That's more than what I paid for the car! Then I thought, maybe if the previous owner had taken better care of her, she wouldn't be asking so much out of me.
