The Buick Regal is a line of mid-size cars marketed by Buick since 1973. For nearly its entire production, the Regal has served as the premium mid-size/intermediate offering of the Buick product range. Introduced as a submodel of the Buick Century, the model line is currently in its sixth generation. For 2008, Opel introduced the Opel Insignia as its largest sedan, with Buick rebranding the model line as the Regal for the Chinese market. For 2011, GM reintroduced the Regal to North America, rebranding the Insignia sedan for North America. For 2018, Buick introduced the second-generation Opel Insignia, sourcing all production from Germany; alongside a first-ever liftback sedan, the Regal TourX was the first Buick station wagon in 22 years.

After 2020, as the division shifted away from car model lines, Buick ended sales of the Regal in North America.

THE MECHANIC ALSO REPLACED THE ABS PUMP MODULE (THE ELECTRONIC PART OF THE ABS UNIT) AND THEN HAD TO UPGRADE THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING AND SENSOR TO ANOTHER BRAND THAT WAS 2X AS EXPENSIVE. THE ABS PROBLEM AFFECTED THE STEERING (MAKING IT HARDER TO STEER AND MORE NOISY), AND ALSO AFFECTED THE SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE ONLINE WARNINGS SAID THAT IT COULD DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION IF NOT CORRECTED. I EVEN TRIED REPLACING THE MODULE OF THE TRACTION CONTROL UNIT UNDER THE DASH. THIS WAS A VERY TIME CONSUMING AND COSTLY REPAIR, AS THE LEFT FRONT BEARING WAS REPLACE A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES AND TWO VISITS FOR THE ABS MODULE AND PROGRAMMING.   • Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1997-2004 Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. The affected vehicles were previously repaired under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 to address the possibility that engine oil may drip onto the hot exhaust manifold.
  • Consequence: Engine oil that drips onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold may result in a fire.
  • Remedy: The remedy applied under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engine’s front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, or 15V-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on February 19, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Oldsmobile customer service at 1-800-442-6537 and Pontiac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 15757. Note: Until the improved remedy has been applied, owners are advised to park their vehicle outside since the fire risk exists even when the vehicle is unattended.

    The most appreciable feature of this Buick is its supercharged motor. Although a more modern engine design would have been beneficial, Buick stuck with the pushrod design, which naturally provides great low-end torque even without the supercharger, but every bit helps. It's classic Buick with more umph in it. The interior styling and exterior design may be considered bland, but it rode fine and it charged on! Overall, it's a decent car with a lot of potential.

    I purchased this car back in October 2012 for a mere $1300, despite its 160K miles and previous neglect by teenage owners. Despite its rough exterior, the 16-year-old engine has never let me down. I have only had to replace the water pump and two faulty coolant elbows, as well as the rear struts. I have spent less than $500 on parts, including oil changes, and have not had to touch it since the initial work. The 3800 series II engine is easy to work on, even for someone with little mechanical experience like myself. Although the timing chain stopped being a chain in June 2015, after 201k miles, the car had never failed me before that day. I put a lot of miles on this car, commuting over 50 miles a day and driving on the weekends, and it never let me down until the camshaft and crankshaft stopped communicating.

    This is a great little car! My wife and I also have a 98 Park Avenue, but this car is something else. It's incredibly powerful and can easily outperform 4.6 liter mustangs and other pony cars. The only car we've owned that was faster and more comfortable was a 96 Eldorado ETC, which had a new sticker price of $48K! I even had a 98 Z28 Camaro, which was just as fast but caused back pain. By the way, if you put an oversized pulley on your SC and a K&N filter, you can increase the HP to almost 300! Overall, this car is a real winner for the price!

    Purchased used with 56K in September 2001. Although the transmission went out and the power window motors failed (both within 4K miles), I was fortunate enough to have an extended warranty that covered all the repairs. I have experienced some recurrent brake-rotor noise that apparently cannot be remedied, but apart from that, I have not encountered any other issues in nearly two years. I would highly recommend purchasing an extended warranty for any Regal.

    After doing extensive research for a third round vehicle (around $100K, well-maintained, and clean), I finally decided to go with the Buick GS. I am thrilled to say that I got this car for only $4300, which was the private party value. It is fully loaded and incredibly fast, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I read many reviews before making my decision, and they were all true. Even though it is a 1997 model, it has the same styling as a 2004, which makes it look like a newer car. It gets an impressive 36mpg at 55mph, has 240HP on tap, and the seating is incredibly comfortable. Moreover, it has a record of superior reliability and safety. I turned down Camrys, Accords, Volvos, and countless others, but I found this to be the most cost-effective and fun-to-drive foreign or domestic vehicle.
