2008 Acura Mdx problems
The Acura MDX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by the Japanese automaker Honda under its luxury Acura division since 2000. The alphanumeric moniker stands for "Multi-Dimensional" luxury. It has ranked as the second-best selling mid-size luxury SUV after the Lexus RX in the U.S.
The MDX is the first luxury crossover SUV to have standard third-row seating, and shares its platform with the Honda Pilot. The Pilot was made available with an eight person seating configuration, while the MDX exclusively seats seven, with two seating positions in the third row. The MDX was introduced on October 5, 2000 as a 2001 model, replacing the slow-selling U.S.-only body-on-frame SLX, based on the Isuzu Trooper. In Japan, it was made to replace the Honda Horizon (also based on the Trooper) which was discontinued in 1999. In 2003, the vehicle went on sale in Japan and Australia as the Honda MDX; sales with Honda badges ended with the introduction of the second generation three years later.
First generation (YD1; 2001)
Derived from Honda's Global mid-size platform which underpins cars like the Honda Accord, Acura TL, TSX and Odyssey, it is powered by a J35A3 3.5 L SOHC 24 valve V6 engine with VTEC. Curb weight is 4,451 lb (2,019 kg), with a 106.3 in (2,700 mm) wheelbase and 8 in (200 mm) of ground clearance. The cargo floor can flip up to provide two additional seats. The vehicle is designed to hold 7 passengers, but the third row seats are small and only seat two, in contrast to the Odyssey and Pilot whose third row holds three passengers.
The vehicle features an automatic four wheel drive system (named VTM-4) that engages during off the line acceleration as well as when wheel slippage is detected. Additionally, the system offers a lock mode which can be activated and operated at low speeds and provides permanent 4WD and the equivalent of a locked rear differential; designed for climbing steep hills and getting out of stuck situations. To reduce drivetrain noise and increase fuel efficiency, the system runs as front wheel drive during normal cruising. The VTM-4 AWD system in the MDX has the same design as the VTM-4 systems found in the Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline. It is different than Honda's "RealTime AWD" system in the Honda CR-V and other models in that it can lock and it attempts to predict when traction will be lost and apply power to all four wheels before slippage occurs (by monitoring throttle inputs).
The navigation system and DVD entertainment system (also popular on other Honda/Acura models, such as the CR-V and Odyssey) options were mutually exclusive in the 2002 model. Both could be ordered at the same time since the 2003 model. The navigation option comes with a backup camera since the 2003 model. Since 2005, the navigation system featured information from Zagat about restaurants and other points of interest. The 2003 model was rated as Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. The United States Environmental Protection Agency estimates 23 mpg‑US (10 L/100 km; 28 mpg‑imp) highway and 17 mpg‑US (14 L/100 km; 20 mpg‑imp) city.
The first two model years' 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 240 hp (179 kW) and 245 lb⋅ft (332 N⋅m) of torque from 3000 to 5000 rpm. For the 2003 model, the engine was improved to produce 20 hp (15 kW) more power than the earlier models, and the wheel designs were updated. The 2004 through 2006 engine received a modest increase in power and produces 265 hp (198 kW) and 253 lb⋅ft (343 N⋅m). The 2004 model is credited with a top speed of 137 mph, and a 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds. The 2004 model features dual tail pipes instead of the single pipe in earlier models, side curtain airbags, new head lights and tail lights, and new wheels. Some chrome trimmings on the 2004 model use matte finish to distinguish from the polished shiny finish on earlier models. Little changed for the MDX during the 2006 model year with a few minor revisions to the vehicle's chrome and faux wood interior trim which could now be had with a dark grey wood (as opposed to reddish wood on earlier models), and also a black dash and steering wheel in tan interiors.

Common 2008 Acura Mdx problems
The Acura MDX 2008 is a luxury midsize SUV that has been popular among car enthusiasts for its stylish design and impressive performance. However, like any vehicle, the Acura MDX has experienced its fair share of problems. Here are some of the most common issues that owners of the 2008 Acura MDX have reported:
Transmission Problems
Lots of 2008 Acura MDX owners have experienced some transmission problems. The most common issues include delayed shifting or no response, strange noises like grinding or brushing, fluid leaks or low fluid levels, and burning smells or smoke. These problems can be caused by a faulty solenoid or torque converter. To prevent these issues, you should monitor the fluid levels regularly and top up when needed. It's also recommended to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles or as suggested by the manufacturer. Avoid driving aggressively or towing heavy loads, and make sure to service your car regularly to catch any signs of trouble. If you do experience transmission problems, you may need to replace some parts or install a remanufactured transmission. Additionally, updating the HDS and PCM software may also help.
Electrical Problems
MDX owners also have experienced some electrical issues. Some of the most common ones include:
- Malfunctioning memory seat settings caused by a faulty passenger side mirror actuator.
- Random flashing lights and alarms due to a faulty canbus controller.
- Battery drain caused by a faulty hands-free link module.
- Tailgate open warning and interior lights flashing due to a faulty brake control for the trailer hitch.
To fix these issues, you may need to replace or repair the problematic parts, update the software, or disconnect the trailer hitch wiring. It's recommended to consult an Acura dealer or a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair.
Oil Pump Leak
Although not very common, an oil pump leak can occur due to a faulty oil pump seal or gasket. In this case, reprogramming the immobilizer system may be necessary.
Alternator Issues
Alternator problems are not very common for the 2008 Acura MDX, but they can happen due to a worn-out or faulty alternator or belt. It's recommended to consult an Acura dealer or a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair.
In-Car Electronics Issues
Some owners have reported issues with the in-car electronics, including the infotainment system, rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, and head-up display. These problems can include CD player malfunctions, hands-free unit battery drain, and software issues that prevent the display of correct time. In some cases, the repair cost can be quite high, such as $2400.00 to remove the dash console to make a CD player repair.
It's important to note that while these issues are common, not all 2008 Acura MDX owners will experience them. Regular maintenance and servicing can help prevent many of these problems, and it's always recommended to consult an Acura dealer or a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair.
What are the problems of Acura MDX 2008?
Owners have cited problems such as hard shifting, erratic gear changes, and transmission failure. To address these concerns, some may require a transmission fluid flush, while more severe cases may necessitate transmission repairs or replacements.
What is the most common problem with Acura MDX?
One of the most common issues with Acura MDX vehicles, especially those built between 2003 and 2007, is transmission problems.

- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: MY 2008 MDX'S BATTERY WOULD DRAIN OUT OFTEN AND HAD TO REPLACE 2-3 NEW BATTERIES DURING THAT TIME FRAME AND NUMEROUS JUMP START. RECENTLY, I JUST CHANGED BATTERY AND HAD TO JUMP START AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH. I REALLY GOT FRUSTRATED AND TOOK THE CAR TO CAR DEALER AND HE SAID IT'S AN HFL ISSUE WHICH DRAINS YOUR BATTERY OUT, SO I HAVE TO PAY $200 TO DISCONNECT THE SYSTEM OR PAY $4000 TO PUT A NEW HFL SYSTEM. THEIR IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND ANOTHER CUSTOMER AT THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON HIS 2008 TL. WHY DOESN'T ACURA RECALL AND FIX THE ISSUE??? THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW. I EVEN EMAILED ACURA WITH A COMPLAINT AND NO RESPONSE FROM THEM YET. ..! THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND WOULD NEVER BUY ACURA OR HONDA CARS AGAIN..!
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-06-02
- VIN: 2HNYD28498H
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: ON SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 2018, I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON INTERSTATE 95 AND MY CONSOLE LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING AND THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WATCHED AS THE CONSOLE LIGHTS BLINKED--VSA, BRAKE, INFORMATION LIGHT NAVIGATION SYSTEM SCREEN TURNED ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY, AND SPEEDOMETER AND RMP GAUGES WENT CRAZY. I SAT ON THE SHOULDER AND THE CONSOLE LIGHTS AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM LIGHTS CONTINUED TO BLINK ON AND OFF, AND THEN I SAW THAT THE SYSTEM RESET AS IF THE BATTERY HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED. THE SCREEN TO ENTER THE CODE TO RESET YOUR RADIO SYSTEM APPEARED. THEN IT ALL STOPPED AND WENT BLANK. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE TO EXIT THE INTERSTATE AND IT CONTINUED ON UNTIL I REACHED MY EXIT. HOWEVER, DURING THE DRIVE MY CONSOLE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO BLINK ON AND OFF AND THE CAR DROVE SLOWLY AND THERE WAS A DRAGGING SOUND AS IF THE ENGINE WAS OVERWORKING. I HAD TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR, AND MY WINDOWS WOULD NOT GO UP TO CLOSE.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2017-09-04
- VIN: 2HNYD28328H
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: BATTERY WAS REPLACED IN FEBRUARY 2017 (ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO). TODAY, EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL JUST DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THANK GOD MY CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR & THAT I WAS 1 MINUTE FROM HOME. THE INTERNAL LIGHTS FLICKERED AND THEN ALL LIGHTS, THE RADIO, AND ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL PORTION WENT DEAD. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT SENSING SOMETHING WAS WRONG, I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY HUSBAND AND TOLD HIM TO MEET ME. AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR, IT WENT DEAD AND NEVER TURNED ON. WE HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS APPROACHES TO FIX AND HAVING FOUND THE SOLUTION YET. PER RESEARCH, MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR DANGEROUS ISSUES. SEE HTTP://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/ACURA/MDX/2007/ELECTRICAL/ELECTRICAL_SYSTEM.SHTML. MY ABSOLUTE FEAR IS THAT MY CAR WILL STOP COMPLETELY WHILE ON ON A FAST ROAD, WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND AT NIGHT. WHILE WE DON'T YET KNOW IF IT'S AN HFL ISSUE (IT'S NOT A BATTERY ISSUE AS WE JUST HAD IT CHECKED LESS THAN AN HOUR AGO), I'M VERY FEARFUL. IF IT IS A HFL ISSUE, ACURA SHOULD HAVE ADDRESSED THIS A LONG TIME AGO.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-05-01
- VIN: 2HNYD28238H
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: THE HANDS FREE LINK CONSTANTLY DRAINS THE BATTERY, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN USE. I HAVE REPLACED 3 BATTERIES. THIS ISSUE LEAVES YOU STRANDED AND THE REPAIR COST BY DEALERS ARE RIDICULOUS WHEN THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE. MY LOCAL DEALER EXPLAINED THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE ISSUE WAS TO REMOVE THE HFL MODULE. WHY INSTALL SOMETHING ON A VEHICLE IF IT'S NOT CAPABLE OF PERFORMING THE FUNCTION IT IS MEANT TO. ALSO THE CD CHANGER CONSTANTLY GET STUCK AND WILL NOT WORK. DUE TO THIS ISSUE I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE OR A BUSY MESSAGE WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE A CD. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED IN MY ACURA MULTIPLE TIMES AND I HAVE GOTTEN IT OUT HOWEVER THIS TIME WHEN THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED DUE TO THE HFL MODULE THE CD GOT STUCK DUE TO THE BATTERY ISSUE AND WILL NOT COME OUT AT ALL NOW. SO MY CD PLAYER IS NON-FUNCTIONING AT THIS POINT. SO ONE ISSUE HAS LEAD TO THE OTHER.
SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-06-04
- VIN: 2HNYD28818H
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: I HAVE A MDX WITH SPORT SUSPENSION. I RECENTLY VISITED MY MECHANIC TO DISCOVER THAT BOTH OF MY REAR SHOCKS ARE BLOWN. AFTER LOOKING INTO FIXING IT, I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE PREMATURELY. NOT ONLY IS IT A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE TRIM, THE PARTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. WITH SO MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, IT SEEMS THE CORE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM MAY BE A FAULTY DESIGN OF THE SHOCKS. MY CONCERN IS REPLACING A FAULTY PRODUCTS WITH ANOTHER FAULTY PRODUCTS, AND EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE ALL OVER AGAIN SHORTY.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2013-05-08
- VIN: 2HNYD28458H
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 ACURA MDX. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-08-01
- VIN: 2HNYD28858H
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: THE ADS SENSOR HAS GONE BAD ON MY 2008 MDX. SOME HAVE BEEN RECALLED IN COLORADO BECAUSE SALT PUT ON THE ROADS FOR SNOW CONDITIONS HAS CARRIED THEM. I LIVE IN UTAH WHERE WE ALSO HAVE SALT PUT ON SLICK ROADS. BUT NONE IN UTAH WERE RECALLED. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX AND PARTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH ACURA. MY LOCAL MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE PRICE THEY ARE CHARGING WAS REDICULIUS AND HE HAS NEVER SEEN SUCH AN EXPENSIVE STRUT FIX.
VISIBILITY PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-06-11
- VIN: 2HNYD284X8H
- Components: VISIBILITY
- Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 ACURA MDX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-06-11
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: IF THE CAR PARKED FOR 2 OR MORE DAYS IT WILL NOT START. THERE IS DRAIN IN THE SYSTEM. APPARENTLY THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH ACURA. DEALER SAID THAT HE COULD TRY TO DISCONNECT BLUETOOTH (HANDSFREE LINK) FOR $150-200. MY FAMILY WAS STUCK IN COLD WINTER NIGHTS IN THE PARKING LOT WITH NO PEOPLE, WHICH WAS NOT PLEASANT. I THINK ACURA SHOULD HAVE A RECALL AND DISCONNECT OR REPLACE DEFECTIVE UNITS FOR FREE. WE REPLACED BATTERY A COUPLE OF TIMES WITHOUT ANY AFFECT.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-10-01
- VIN: 2HNYD28348H

THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE HESITATED BEFORE ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST, TCS, ABS AND VTM MAY NOT OPERATE WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MULTIPLE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HOOD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.
SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-05-15
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: SPORTS SUSPENSION IN VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK OVERTIME. I BELIEVE THEY ARE DEFECTIVE, EVERY BUMP I GO OVER, TINY OR BIG IT MAKES A SOUND FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME ITS 2300 TO REPLACE BOTH SIDES. REASON I BELIEVE THEY ARE DEFECTIVE OR NOT OF HIGH QUALITY, HEARD AND READ MANY PEOPLE WITH MDX SPORTS SUSPENSION GETTING THEM REPLACED ONCE TO SEVERAL TIMES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.
STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-04-17
- Components: STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I WAS DRIVING MY CAR GOING ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER THE CAR, STOP THE CAR, ACCELERATE AND CUT ON MY BLINKERS. NOTHING IN THE CAR WORKED. I WAS DESPERATE TO GET OUT OF THE TRAFFIC FLOW WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY JERKED BACK ON. IT DID THIS OFF AND ON AS I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. ONCE THERE THEY STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS THE ISSUE. BATTERY WAS REPLACED. VARIOUS INTERNAL COMPONENTS OF THE CAR STARTED TO FALL APART (SEAT BELTS, AIRBAGS, CAR LIGHTS, CAR KEY, WINDOW SENSORS, DOOR LOCKS, ALARM, NAVIGATION). FOR A TIME THE CAR DROVE BUT WITH VERY STIFF HANDLING. CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN ISSUE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A WHIRRING SOUND AT START-UP. EVERYTHING WAS REPLACED TO FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DOING A HAIL MARY ATTEMPT AT OFFERING RESOLVE. I FINALLY RECEIVED MY CAR BACK TWO WEEKS LATER. THEN HERE WE GO AGAIN, I AM ON THE FREEWAY WITH A BRAND NEW BATTERY INSTALLED BY ACURA WHEN EVERYTHING POWERS OFF YET AGAIN. CAR EVEN BRAKED ITSELF AND I SAW MY LIFE FLASH BEFORE MY EYES. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND TRAFFIC FLOW WAS THICK. I TOOK MY CAR TO ACURA AND CURRENTLY THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR OVER A WEEK. THEY TELL ME IT IS MY BATTERY AGAIN WHICH THEY WILL REPLACE FOR FREE BUT THEY WANT TO KEEP FOR FURTHER TESTING. I WORK FROM HOME AND DRIVE MY CAR EXTENDED DISTANCES WHEN NEEDED AND I NEED RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. THIS CAR IS PROVING UNRELIABLE. I AM NOT GETTING STRAIGHT ANSWERS FROM ANYONE AND IN 4 YEARS I HAVE REPLACED MY BATTERY 3 TIMES! I PARK IN THE GARAGE! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY THE NEXT TIME THE POWER GOES OUT ON THE CAR AND EVERYTHING STOPS WORKING! I SEE THIS CONCERN IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND I NEED HELP! *TR
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-02-01
- VIN: 2HNYD28348H
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN OCTOBER 2014. EVER SINCE I HAD THE CAR I NOTICE THAT THE HOOD STARTS VIBRATING AS IF IT IS GOING TO OPEN. I HAVE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES TO CHECK THAT THE HOOD IS NOT OPEN. I HAVE CONTACTED ACURA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME TO GO TO THE DEALER. WHAT I HAVE NOTICE IS THAT THE LATCH MOVES BACK AND FORTH EASILY AND THE HOOD FLEXES WHEN YOU OPEN IT AND PULL ON IT. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND PEOPLE GO TO THE DEALERSHIPS AND WE GET TOLD THE SAME THING. EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A CAR HOOD VIBRATE THE WAY THIS HOOD VIBRATES. *TR
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-10-11
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: *****ACURA MDX 2008 BATTERY IS DRAINING AND CAR WILL NOT START DUE TO HFL UNIT.******** ***CONSUMERS SHOULD KNOW SO THEY CAN ADDRESS THIS ISSUE PREVENT BEING STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH A DEAD BATTERY*** THIS HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE 1) FEBRUARY 2013, VEHICLE @ 35,000 MILES- BATTERY REPLACED AT ACURA 2) OCTOBER 2014, VEHICLE @ 48,000 MILES- TOLD BY ACURA BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN 3) JANUARY 2015, VEHICLE @ 49,000 MILES- I FOUND ONLINE FORUM WHERE ACURA MDX OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THE CONCLUSION IS A DEFECTIVE HFL (HANDS FREE LINK) UNIT DRAINING THE BATTERY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS OFF. 4) JANUARY 2015, VEHICLE @ 49,000 MILES - I TELL ACURA SERVICE ADVISOR AT INTAKE ABOUT ONLINE DISCUSSIONS AND THAT I BELIEVE THE HFL UNIT IS DRAINING MY BATTERY. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AGREES THE ISSUE IS DEFINITELY THE HFL UNIT AND THE HFL UNIT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED OR UNPLUGGED BUT HE WILL HAVE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSE TO CONFIRM . I HAD ACURA REPLACE THE HFL UNIT AND THE BATTERY HAS NOT DIED SINCE EVEN AFTER NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR THREE STRAIGHT DAYS. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AS I BELIEVE DRIVING HANDS-FREE IS SAFER THAN DRIVING WITH A PHONE IN ONE'S HAND. IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL TO DRIVE AND TALK ON A HAND-HELD PHONE IN THE STATE IN WHICH I LIVE SO UNPLUGGING THE HFL UNIT IS NOT AN OPTION FOR ME. I BELIEVE ACURA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE AND ALL THE MANY ONLINE FORUMS WHERE CONSUMERS WITH DIFFERENT ACURA MODELS, MAKES AND YEARS ARE DISCUSSING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE HFL AND GIVING THEIR FEEDBACK ABOUT THEIR CONTACT WITH ACURA. INSTEAD OF DOING A THOROUGH DIAGNOSTIC CHECK I WAS TOLD TWICE I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. IT WAS MY THIRD VISIT ALONG WITH THE INFORMATION I FOUND ONLINE THAT I GOT ACURA'S ATTENTION HOWEVER BY THEN THE HFL WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES,TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2013-08-01
- VIN: 2HNYD28288H
- Components: LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES,TIRES
- Summary: 1.HOOD: WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, I NOTICED THE HOOD FLUTTERING AS IF IT WAS NOT CLOSED SECURELY. I PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND CHECKED THE LATCH. I TRIED TO PULL IT OPEN BUT FOUND IT WAS SECURELY LATCHED. I OPENED THEN LATCH AND SHUT IT DOWN HARD TO MAKE SURE IT WAS TIGHTLY SECURED. WHEN I GOT BACK OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, IT HAPPENED AGAIN! IT HAS NOW HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I'VE GOTTEN USED TO IT BUT IT IS STILL UNNERVING EACH TIME AS I FEAR THE HOOD WILL FLY UP WHILE I'M DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED. 2. TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS: I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 18 MONTHS AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO OF THESE SENSORS. THEY START BEEPING AND A MESSAGE APPEARS SAYING THE PRESSURE IS LOW IN THE TIRE. WHEN I HAVE HAD THE TIRE CHECKED (ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS), THE AIR PRESSURE IS IN THE NORMAL RANGE OF 32. EACH TIME THE TIRE ATTENDANT ADDED EXTRA AIR TO TRY TO SILENCE THE ALARM BUT CAUTIONED THAT DOING SO COULD BE DANGEROUS. OTHERWISE, THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE BEEPING (WHICH IS UNBELIEVABLY ANNOYING ON A LONG ROAD TRIP) IS TO HAVE THE FAULTY SENSOR REPLACED. *TR

Just turned 40,000 miles and I still love my vehicle! However, I have noticed that the gas mileage is not great and the exterior paint is a bit weak, as it nicks and chips easily. On the bright side, the car rides very smoothly and has lots of passing power. So far, the quality and reliability have been excellent up to my current mileage.
-
Coming from an 05 Lexus RX, I'm happy to report that the MDX is a significant improvement. The MDX feels solid on the road and handles firm but comfortably on the highway. While I haven't had a chance to check it out in the snow yet, I'm looking forward to it. Although the gas mileage could be better, it's understandable given the 300 horses under the hood. The Nav system is a big plus, it's easy to use and comes with Bluetooth and a very good sound system in the package.
-
Bought last week and I'm really enjoying the ride. The acceleration is excellent, and the transmission shifts very smoothly. It handles great around corners. The interior fit and finish is good. I'm still figuring out the nav system, but it's mostly intuitive and a great asset.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my new car. I've had it for three weeks now and I'm absolutely in love with it! I purchased the tech/entertainment package in blk/blk and it's beautiful both inside and out. The navigation system is easy to use, especially if you've had navigation before. The HandsFree Link with our blue tooth phones is awesome and makes driving so much easier. The car accelerates and handles excellently, which makes for a really smooth ride. We owned an integra before this, so we knew it was going to be a quality vehicle and we were not disappointed. The 10 speaker stereo is amazing and the kids can listen/watch DVDs in the back while we listen to the radio in the front. I can't complain about the gas mileage, as the car is a full-sized SUV and not a Honda Civic! Our MDX gets the same gas mileage as our Pathfinder, so if you want excellent gas mileage, it's best to buy something smaller. Overall, I think this car is awesome and I'm really happy with my purchase!

I have over 30k miles on this SUV and can confidently say that it has been a great experience. While it may not be as powerful as some other models like the Lexus GX or ML 500, it still gets the job done exceptionally well. The handling is superb and it really takes off once the rpm's are up. The only downside is that it can be a bit anemic off idle. I do tow a snowmobile trailer and was informed by the dealer that I need new shocks, but thankfully they are covered under warranty. Overall, I highly recommend this vehicle.

I really enjoyed my experience with the Acura MDX 2008. When I needed to upgrade from my 2005 Nissan Max, I was looking for something bigger and safer for my 10-month-old son. Although the MDX doesn't have an immediate get-up-and-go, it still performs well. I've only had it for less than a year and have put just 11,000 highway miles on it, but I haven't had any issues until recently. During a trip to NC, I noticed a loud humming noise, which turned out to be bad wheel bearings. However, I'm confident that once it's fixed, it won't happen again. Overall, I'm really happy with the customer service I've received.

MDX performs well and is a safe vehicle. However, I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been facing with your vehicle and Acura's customer service. It must be frustrating to have your vehicle in the shop for so long. Have you tried reaching out to Acura's customer service again? Perhaps they can escalate your case to a higher level. I hope your issue gets resolved soon. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Although this SUV has a few issues, such as things detaching and the safety belt not working twice, it does have some positive features. The cargo space is quite big and the third row seat is functional for kids. However, considering the price tag, you should expect better drive quality and build quality. The Bluetooth function is poor and does not synchronize with most phones, and the DVD system also has some problems. Additionally, the fuel economy is poor. Acura compares itself to BMW, but they still have a long way to go. Overall, this SUV may not be the best option for those looking for high-quality features and performance.

The vehicle has a smooth ride, but the interior has too much plastic and is uncomfortable for a luxury SUV. While I was pressured into buying the MDX, I would suggest looking at BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus before making a purchase. Even the Murano is a strong competitor and is 12k cheaper! The voice recognition can be distracting and Acura should consider removing it. The steering wheel grip is too thin and reminds me of my father's 1966 Chevy. The seats are also too firm, but can be improved by adding foam. Although the DVD player is expensive, it is the only way to get the automatic tailgate. Overall, there are some areas for improvement, but the vehicle still has a smooth ride and is worth considering.
