The Nissan Armada (retrospectively referred to unofficially as the Nissan Pathfinder Armada) is a full-size SUV manufactured by Nissan for the North American market. From 2003 to 2015, the first-generation Armada was assembled in Canton, Mississippi based on the Nissan Titan. First generation (TA60; 2004)
The 2004 model Pathfinder Armada was unveiled on April 17, 2003, at the New York International Auto Show. Developed under Carlos Ghosn's NRP (Nissan Revival Plan), development was done in September 1999 to 2003 under lead designers Shiro Nakamura and Diane Allen and chief engineers Yuzo Sakita and Larry Dominique. In January 2001, a final exterior design by Giovanny Arroba had been approved by Sakita, Allen, Nakamura, and Nissan executive management, with the final design freeze being completed in July 2001. It is assigned the platform code TA60.
Prototypes based on the Y61 Patrol were hand-assembled as mules from 2001, with the first TA60-specific prototypes being completed and sent to testing in early 2002. Design patents were filed in 2003, with production starting on August 14, 2003, and going on sale on October 1, 2003.
The Armada had a 5.6 L VK56DE V8 engine that made 305 hp (227 kW) and 385 lb⋅ft (522 N⋅m) of torque. This was mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, and the Armada had a choice of either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. There are some Armadas that are capable of using E85. It has a towing capacity of up to 9,000 lb (4,000 kg).
The rear door handles are installed on the "C" pillar as part of a Nissan design tradition that started with the 1986 Nissan Pathfinder. When the four-door Pathfinder was introduced, Nissan chose to conceal the door handles as a part of the "C" pillar trim to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.
The switch to the Armada name occurred in September 2004 for the 2005 model year, where it received new badges without "Pathfinder." The 2005 model year also included a backup camera.

- Summary: For the past couple of years my 2008 Nissan Armada has been giving me issues with the gas gauge not reading accurately, it has progressed over time. It started out happening around a quarter of a tank with anywhere from 25 to 60 miles to empty according to the reading on the screen display. There has been no warning of running out of gas, it just happens while driving, the vehicle starts to shut down & the steering wheel eventually locks up, I do not have very long to find a driveway or parking lot to coast into before the vehicle completely shuts down. Over time it has happened at different intervals indicating I still have gas according to the gauge & the screen display, one time it showed as much as 147 miles to empty. My husband & I researched what may need to be checked or replaced to remedy the issue, everything led to changing the fuel pump which we did in August 2022. Within a few days it started happening again, at that time we had a mechanic look at my vehicle, they figured out that the fuel pump was missing a cap on the end of it, they replaced it. After about 4-6 months or so it started happening again, at that time we brought it back to the same mechanic to assess. After keeping it for 4 days, they decided that "the fuel pump must be bad & needs to be changed, sometimes fuel pumps just go bad". After paying over $700.00 to replace the fuel pump again (March 2023), it lasted about 2 weeks & happened again! There was a recall back in 2010 I believe for the fuel sending unit on my vehicle, Nissan replaced it at no charge, however, I was not having any issues at that time, when I called Nissan a year or so ago, they told me that a recall can only be done once where they fix the issue at no charge.

- Summary: While driving, the unit that houses the TV and stereo and air vents (center console on roof) decided to break and fall on my child who was in her car seat, almost resulting in me crashing my vehicle. This is a hazard alone. Due to the poor design of this center console, there is no way to repair this piece. It has to be replaced with the same faulty piece, which will eventually break again due to it not being able to sustain the weight. This happened to me at about 78,000 miles. I had to remove the center console.

While driving on highway my 2 children, my daughter friend and myself the vehicle began to drag, I was like oh my God it feels like it's going to cut off. I immediately had a anxiety attack trying to figure out what was happening because no warning lights came on in which had me panic even more. I tried to calm down and get off to side of roadway at least before it did shut off. As soon as I started to drive off to side it shut off I tried to give it gas nothing and the steering wheel had tighten up(no power)so now we was rolling and I'm trying my hardest to steer so we wouldn't hit anything. It was the most scariest moment of my life and my life flashed in front of me and praying no trucks came flying. I proceeded to call AAA they asked my location and if we was in a safe area, did it run out of gas, etc.... They said they will dispatch a tow truck and also tell them to being gas just in case. I said it's by 1/2 tank and say it's 153 miles til empty, they said sometimes those gauge don't work, I said the digital fuel as well would be off. Well the tow truck came check fluids, batteries and nothing was wrong he put the gas and it started. This is very dangerous for this gauge to be broken and not operating correctly because it just shut off and had me and my children and friend was in a deadly accident due to a [XXX] malfunction from a defaulted gas reader. What would you people tell our families oh we sorry. This is a serious serious deadly problem that needs to be addressed immediately. Another problem is the suspension and tires. I had everything checked and thought I needed a wheel alignment and I still notice when I hit a bump I'm the road the entire truck swerve. The digital tire air pressure gauge inside car on screen is off and not reading either. The either electrical system is off if you ask me. THERE ARE NO LEAKS IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE NEARBY NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAID IT HAD THROWN A C1179 CODE FOR A BRAKE BOOSTER SENSOR. TURNS OUT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS AND NISSAN LOST A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THE ISSUE IN CALIFORNIA IN 2014. SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO ON VARIOUS NISSAN FORUMS. IT IS A WONDER MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE NOT IN AN ACCIDENT.

THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ON UNTIL I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. I CALLED MY HUSBAND AND HE CAME, CHECKED ALL THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE FLUID AND CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING ANYWHERE BUT HE DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG SO HE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS OFF SO HE DROVE IT HOME WHILE I DROVE HIS CAR BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I'VE READ THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH NISSAN ARMADA. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED BUT IT'S ONE TIME TOO MANY BECAUSE I'M LUCKY I DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT.

THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO A LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY ON CORNERS AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS LEADING TO A CRASH. ALSO WITHIN THE PAST FEW MONTHS THE FUEL GUAGE HAS STARTED TO SHOW MORE FUEL IN THE TANK THAN WHAT IS ACTUALLY IN THE TANK. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND PROVIDED THE VIN AND THEY SAID THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RECALL SERVICE HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED ON THIS VIN.

IF YOU LOOK, YOU WILL SEE THERE ARE NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF THESE CONSOLES FALLING OUT OF THE ROOF. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE PART. THERE HAS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE WEIGHT OF THIS PART AND THE SCREWS THAT SHOULD BE ABLE TO HOLD THIS UP. THE PLASTIC CRUMBLED UP AROUND THE SCREWS. NISSAN SHOULD REPLACE THE FAULTY PART!!

- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2008-2011 Titan, Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada, and 2008-2009 Quest vehicles. The resin emblem on the driver's air bag cover may develop cracks and detach during air bag deployment.
- Consequence: A detached emblem can become a projectile during air bag deployment, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the drivers airbag cover. Owner letters were mailed December 8, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall are PC944, PC945, and PC946.

- Consequence: INCORRECT INFLATION OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO A VEHICLE OCCUPANT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH REQUIRING DEPLOYMENT OF THAT AIR BAG.

THE LOWER CONTROL LINK ASSEMBLY HAS TWO CYLINDRICAL COLLARS FORMING THE INBOARD ATTACHMENT POINTS TO THE CHASSIS. DUE TO AN IMPROPER WELDING PROCESS SOME COLLARS MAY CONTAIN WELDS THAT DO NOT MEET STRENGTH SPECIFICATIONS.
- Consequence: IF THE COLLAR WELD SEPARATES, THE VEHICLE HANDLING WILL DETERIORATE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

I had a 2005 Armada which I liked but wanted leather and a DVD player. I traded it for the 08 model and the ride is much better. The interior has been redesigned and is now more comfortable. The only real issue is the gas mileage, but since it's only used as a family hauler and doesn't get driven as much, it's not a major concern.

We've been driving our Armada for two weeks now and we're really enjoying it. It has everything you could want in a large SUV - power, refinement, safety features, and plenty of room. While the mileage isn't the best, it's a fair tradeoff for having such an excellent utility vehicle that keeps our family safe. We were blown away by the Armada's interior materials quality and features, especially considering the price. Nissan really did their homework with this vehicle and it shows.
