Volkswagen Eos 2013 problems
The Volkswagen Eos is a compact two-door, four passenger convertible manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen from 2006-2016 — noted for its five-section hardtop retractable roof which itself featured an independently operable glass sunroof. VW marketed the body configuration as a CSC (coupe-sunroof-convertible).
Assembled at AutoEuropa in Portugal, the Eos succeeded the Golf Cabriolet. Eos production ended in May 2015, with a limited number of base trim models marketed as 2016 models in the United States.
The model name derived from Eos, the Greek goddess of the dawn.

Common Volkswagen Eos 2013 problems
The Volkswagen Eos, a coupé-cabriolet produced from 2006 to 2016, has been praised for its spacious cabin, roomy boot, and good handling. However, it has also been criticized for certain issues that have affected its reliability and customer satisfaction. This article will discuss common problems with the 2013 Volkswagen Eos, focusing on complaints from owners of this car.
- Clock Spring Failure: Another issue that has affected the Volkswagen Eos is clock spring failure. This problem can lead to the airbag system failing, which can be a serious safety concern. The clock spring is a crucial component that connects the steering wheel controls to the car's electrical system. When it fails, it can cause a variety of issues, including the airbag warning light illuminating, the horn not working, and the steering wheel controls becoming inoperable.
- Excessive Oil Consumption: The Volkswagen Eos has also been known to have issues with excessive oil consumption. This problem can lead to the engine running low on oil, which can cause serious damage. It is recommended that owners of the Volkswagen Eos check their oil levels regularly and top up as necessary.
- Defective Timing Chain: The timing chain is a critical component of the engine, and when it fails, it can cause significant damage. The Volkswagen Eos has been known to have issues with defective timing chains, which can lead to engine failure.
- Recalled Takata Airbags: The Volkswagen Eos is one of the many vehicles affected by the recalled Takata airbags. These airbags have been known to explode with too much force, sending metal shards flying. This can be a serious safety concern and can cause injury or death.
In conclusion, the Volkswagen Eos has been known to have several issues that can affect its reliability and customer satisfaction. These issues include problems with the convertible top, clock spring failure, excessive oil consumption, defective timing chains, and recalled Takata airbags. It is important for owners of the Volkswagen Eos to be aware of these issues and to take the necessary steps to address them. Regular maintenance and inspections can help to identify and prevent these issues from becoming more serious.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-10-19
- VIN: WVWBW8AH2DV
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: TAKATA RECALL ON 10/19/18 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THAT THEY COULD INSTALL THE NEW AIRBAG INFLATOR KIT DUE TO THE RECALL. A FEW DAYS LATER I NOTICED MY HORN WAS NOT WORKING. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/9/18 ONLY TO BE TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE AIRBAG BECAUSE THE BRACKETS CONNECTING TO THE AIRBAG ARE NOT SENDING A GOOD SIGNAL TO THE HORN. HOWEVER I WENT ONLINE AND ONE OF THE ITEMS CLEARLY CALLED OUT WITH THE RECALL IS "DO NOT PULL ON THE HORN SWITCH FEED PIGTAIL WIRE TO DISENGAGE THE CONNECTOR FROM THE DRIVER AIRBAG HOUSING OR TO DISCONNECT THE HORN SWITCH TO STEERING WHEEL WIRE HARNESS CONNECTION. IMPROPER PULLING ON THIS PIGTAIL WIRE OR CONNECTION CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE HORN SWITCH MEMBRANE OR FEED CIRCUIT." ALTHOUGH I HAVE A WARRANTY I WAS TOLD MY ISSUE IS NOT COVERED AND THAT I NEED TO PAY $598.00 PRE TAX TO FIX THE ISSUE. BASED ON WHAT IS DOCUMENTED ONLINE IT WOULD SEEM AN ERROR OCCURRED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF THE AIRBAG INFLATOR KIT IMPACTING MY HORN. I DID ASK THE DEALERSHIP WHAT OTHER ISSUES COULD THIS CAUSE AND IF THE AIRBAG WAS IMPACTED THEY EXPLAINED SINCE THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WAS NOT ON NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE AIRBAG. HOWEVER THE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS NOT ON WITH THIS RECALL EITHER BUT SOMETHING WAS HORRIBLY WRONG. I'D LIKE ANY ASSISTANCE TO CONFIRM THIS HORN ISSUE IS NOT RELATED TO THE REPLACEMENT DEALING WITH THE TAKATA RECALL. THANK YOU.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-10-16
- VIN: WVWBW8AH7DV
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
- Summary: I TOOK THE CAR IN AS PART OF THE TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL. EVERYTHING IN THE CAR WAS WORKING WHEN I DROPPED OFF THE CAR. NOW THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $700 PLUS TO REPAIR THE HORN, IGNITION LOCK, CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL THAT CONTROL THE VOLUME AND MENU BUTTONS ON THE DISPLAY PANEL. THESE ITEMS WERE WORKING WHEN I DROPPED OFF THE CAR. VWOA HAS STATED DUE TO THE AGE OF THE CAR AND THE MILEAGE, THESE ITEMS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WERE WORKING WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, MOMENTUM VOLKSWAGEN OF CLEAR LAKE. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF ON OCTOBER 16TH AT 9 AM FOR AN 9:15 APPOINTMENT, THEY CALLED AROUND 11 AM SAYING THE CAR NEEDED $700 PLUS TO REPAIR THE HORN, IGNITION LOCK, AND THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I WASN'T GOING TO PAY FOR IT, THEY WERE WORKING WHEN I DROPPED THE CAR OFF. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED MANAGEMENT AT VW AND THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT GOING TO PAY FOR IT. THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR IS CALLING SOMEONE ELSE AT THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE ABOUT GETTING THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. I CONTACTED VW OF AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 800-822-8987, TALKED TO KAY C., THE LEADERSHIP TEAM AT VWOA SAID BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE CAR AND MILEAGE, THESE ITEMS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SO IT IS MY FAULT THAT THE RECALL TAKES OVER 5 YEARS TO GET TO MY CAR, WHAT IF I HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND DIED DUE TO SHARDS SEVERING MY ARTERIES IN MY NECK AND I BLEED TO DEATH IN AN OTHERWISE BEIGN ACCIDENT, WHILE WAITING FOR THE AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED. IF I HAD NOT TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE AIR BAG RECALL, MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS AND HORN WOULD STILL BE WORKING. SO THIS FREE REPLACEMENT RECALL IS COSTING ME THREE DAYS WITHOUT A CAR, AND WHATEVER IT COSTS TO REPAIR WHAT THE DEALERSHIP BROKE..

Volkswagen Eos 2013 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the Volkswagen Eos 2013.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2012-2016 Eos, 2012 Passat, 2012-2016 CC, 2015-2016 e-Golf, 2011-2015 Touareg, 2012-2015 and 2017 Tiguan, and 2011-2016 Golf and 2011-2013 GTI vehicles. Modifications made while the vehicles were in an internal evaluation period may cause the affected vehicles to not comply with all of the applicable regulatory requirements.
- Consequence: If the vehicles do not meet all regulatory requirements, there could be an increased risk of a crash, fire, or injury.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles to make them fully compliant or Volkswagen will repurchase them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 29, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Volkswagen CC, 2010-2014 Golf, 2010-2014 Eos, 2007-2010 Passat Sedan and Wagon, and 2012-2014 Passat vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 16, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69Q9. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 16V-078.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Golf, 2007-2010 Passat sedans and wagon, 2012-2014 Passat sedan and Eos, 2009-2014 CC, 2009-2012 Audi Q5, 2010-2012 S5 Cabriolet and 2010-2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflators, free of charge. Volkswagen issued an interim notification to owners on April 12, 2016, and will send a second notification when parts are available. Volkswagen will notify owners again once parts are available. Volkswagen owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Audi owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC, and Passat, 2010-2013 Eos, 2011-2014 Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Tiguan, and 2012-2014 Jetta Sportwagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
- Consequence: A loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag will prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-822-8987.
Negative Volkswagen Eos 2013 car reviews
Positive Volkswagen Eos 2013 car reviews
-
Not a lot of trunk space or rear seats, but it's reasonable for a two-door. The convertible hard top is awesome and so much fun to watch in operation. You'll love how zippy and easy to drive this car is, perfect for adjusting to quick speed for passing, yet smooth and easy to maneuver in city driving. I'm so glad I chose the VW EOS!
-
I bought this car used and I absolutely love it! It reminds me of my 2000 Mercedes SLK, which I adored. Although it's not quite the same sports car as the SLK, it's perfect for me now that I'm a bit older. One of the great things about this car is the small back seat, which is perfect for my two Scotties. Another advantage is that it's a SULEV, just like the SLK, which means I can drive it as an automatic or shift it for a bit of fun. On the highway, I get an impressive 31-32mpg at 70-75, although it's not quite as efficient on city streets (26-28MPH) and it requires premium gas. Overall, I'm thrilled with my purchase and would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable and fun ride!
-
The VW Eos is not only a marvel of engineering but also a really fun car to drive. I was a bit apprehensive at first about the 4 cyl, but one drive on the highway removed any doubts about the 'get up and go' of this 21st century vwdub. At 61 years of age, I feel like a teen again. By the way, the girls on the college campus seem to like it too!
-
Reliability is important for cars that are at least a year old. Since I am a single man, I wanted a practical car and a convertible was out of the question. I am a cautious driver, so I did not need a car that corners like a sports car. For me, adequate cornering, acceleration, and stopping power were more than enough. The car is a pleasure to drive. I did notice that the front-wheel-drive has the potential to squeal on hard acceleration when the top is down, which is probably due to a weight distribution issue. There is a significant blind spot on the passenger side, especially with the top up. However, who wants the top up unless you need to use the heated seats? I am going to sit back and read the owner's manual and will let you know more next year.
-

I bought this car for 14,000, but unfortunately, I didn't come close to making that back. It has had some serious coolant issues and struggles with potholes. While it's cute and fun, it may not be the best option for the long term.

I purchased this car because I was looking for a hardtop convertible with a great interior comfort level and an overall reliable performance. Despite the high ratings that this car received in reviews, I have unfortunately experienced some major issues with it in the 23 months that I have owned it. I have had to take it to the dealership for repairs about 6-7 times, but thankfully, I had purchased it under a CPO warranty. If you are considering purchasing this vehicle, I would strongly recommend getting it with a warranty, as it has been quite costly for me to repair. I have had various issues with the convertible roof leaking, water pump breaking, broken bluetooth, coolant leak, broken throttle, camshaft disconnection, and airbag disconnection. I even reached out to VW corporate, but they only stated that they would take my comments into consideration. At this point, even the dealership is advising me to either purchase an additional warranty or trade it in. I will most likely be trading it in at the end of the CPO, but I hope this information helps you make an informed decision.

I purchased this car two years ago with 36k miles. Although I have encountered some issues, overall it has been a great experience. Some cosmetic issues have arisen, such as the air vent direction pick breaking off on 3/4 vents, my passenger visor falling off and needing replacement, and the upholstery on both door panels coming loose. Additionally, one of my window buttons has broken and the rear seat headrest came off. While these issues are frustrating, I still enjoy driving this car. The pros of this car are that it is fast and zippy, allowing me to easily navigate through traffic. The screen and system are user-friendly, and the Bluetooth connection never fails. The sound system is also impressive for such a petite car. Although it requires frequent maintenance, I still love everything about this car (except for the aforementioned issues). I am grateful for the experience of having a convertible, but I am excited to explore other options once my payments are finished!

I purchased a 2012 EOS in April 2011. As of December 24th, 2011, the car has only been driven for 3,100 miles and has had 3 water pumps replaced. Thankfully, the car has not broken down yet, but after the car warms up, the water pumps build up pressure and a screeching noise can be heard from under the hood. The first water pump was found by accident when I had only driven 400 miles. I heard the noise when I got out of the car to retrieve something and brought it back to the dealer. They informed me that VW had a batch of defective water pumps and replaced it. I recommend standing outside your EOS and listening for the noise. My car is currently being replaced.

I was really hoping to find a hard top, four seat convertible within my price range. Unfortunately, my options were limited to this car and a Chrysler 200, which I wasn't interested in. After purchasing the brand new 2012 model, I experienced some leaks. Unfortunately, VW has been unable to diagnose the issue. Their diagnostic method involves running a three inch Home Depot shower head attached to a hose suspended a foot over the center of the top of the car. It turns out that when it rains in Rochester, NY, the entire car gets wet, not just a three inch spot over the center. Dealing with VW America has been a bit of a challenge, but I'm hopeful that we can resolve the issue soon.
