HAD TO ALSO REPLACE ALTERNATOR, FREEWHEEL PULLEY AND BATTERY. PICKED UP CAR, BEFORE I EVEN GOT HOME ENGINE LAMP CAME ON AGAIN, TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP IN A CLOSER LOCATION TO ME. NOW THE PROBLEM WAS TURBO UNDERBOOST AND EVAP SYSTEM LEAKS, RECCOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF TURBO PURGE VALVE, EVAP PURGE VALVE AND EVAP VENT HOSE. VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF AND HAS HAD MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THESE SAME PROBLEMS, YET THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT, AND CAN ONLY APOLOGIZE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT THEY ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH "THEIR" PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE WILL NOT EVEN PASS SMOG NEXT YEAR AT THIS RATE, GIVEN I COULD NOT FIND ANY SMOG RECORDS AT ALL FOR THIS VEHICLE...IS IT POSSIBLE TO FAKE A SMOG CHECK TO DMV AND RE-SELL A LEMON?? THE LEAK HAS EVEN CAUSED TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH THE CAR. ONE OF THE LAST TIMES I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR, IT SHIFTS AND CAUSES THE LEAK TO START AGAIN. BASICALLY, THEIR RESOLUTION WAS THAT IF I DON'T DRIVE MY CAR, IT WON'T LEAK. AFTER THAT, I GOT FED UP & CONTACTED THE MAIN VW HELP CENTER. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND HAD A REGIONAL MANAGER HANDLING MY CASE. SHE TOLD ME THAT IN ORDER FOR THEM TO PROCEED, I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE LEAKING ISSUE VERIFIED. THE SERVICE CENTER VERIFIED THE LEAK & THEN TOLD HER THAT THEY REPAIRED THE ISSUE. SHE CONTACTED ME AND SAID THAT SHE REALLY BELIEVES IT WAS FIXED THIS TIME. I ASKED HER WHAT I SHOULD DO IF THE LEAK STARTED AGAIN, SINCE I KNEW IT WOULD, AND SHE TOLD ME IF IT DID, I SHOULD CONTACT HER. LO & BEHOLD, THE NEXT TIME IT RAINED, THE LEAK BEGAN AGAIN. I CONTACTED HER AND SHE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT BACK TO THE SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT VERIFIED. AGAIN, I BROUGHT IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER, AGAIN THEY SAID THE FIXED IT, AGAIN IT LEAKED WHEN IT RAINED. - Summary: I HAVE HAD A 2008 EOS FOR LESS THAN 3 YEARS. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AFTER 4 MONTHS, IT HAS HAD SEVERAL REPAIRS INCLUDING ELECTRICAL SEAT NOT WORKING PROPERLY, LEAKS IN WINDOW, CHEAP MATERIALS FALLING OFF NEEDING REPLACEMENT, BRAKES NEEDING SOONER THAN MOST CARS (BRAKES ARE VERY LONG,TAKES FOREVER TO COME TO STOP). AT ABOUT 1YR I STARTED HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH HOW IT DROVE. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP, ONE TIME IT WAS IN FOR ONE MONTH! IT HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH LURCHING, SURGING, JERKING AND LACK OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING OR PUTTING INTO SPORT MODE, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND LEAKING FROM WINDOWS AS WELL. THEY REPLACED ONE PART (THAT WAS OFFICIALLY RECALLED) AND THE CAR DROVE WORSE. THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND NOW HAVE A NEW RATTLING PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO COME FROM THE ENGINE, ALONG WITH WINDOW BUTTON ON DRIVER SIDE STICKING. THERE IS STILL TIMES WHEN I ACCELERATE AND THERE NO INCREASED POWER OR I PUT IT INTO SPORT AND THERE IS NO INCREASE IN SPEED OR RPM'S. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN AGAIN AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I WILL HAVE TO COVER COSTS THAT ARE NOT UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. WITH AS MUCH PROBLEMS AS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR, EVERYTHING SHOULD BE COVERED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AND TRY TO STAY LOCAL AND DO NOT DRIVE MUCH IF I DON'T HAVE TO. ON NOV 11 09 I HAD TO HAVE NECK SURGERY BECAUSE THE CAR JERK IS SO BAD IT FEELS LIKE I AM BEING REAR ENDED I WOULD HAVE TO LOOK IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEE IF I HAD BEEN HIT. AND I HAVE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THIS AS WELL. AFTER TELLING THE DEALERSHIP I HAD SURGERY BECAUSE OF THIS THEY ARE REQUESTING MY CAR TO COME BACK TO THE SHOP AND IT WILL BE DROPPED OFF TOMORROW 2/5/10 BUT THERE IS STILL NO FIX FOR THIS ISSUE ACCORDING TO THE LETTER I RECV'D IN DEC. *JB

The EOS is an excellent car that provides 100% reliable service and miles of fun drives. It requires 'special' maintenance, such as lubricating the roof seals, but this is clearly stated in the owner's manual. As someone who has owned over 60 convertibles, I can confidently say that the EOS is the best thought out one I have ever seen or owned. If you are considering purchasing one, I highly recommend it!

The car is really fun to drive and comes with lots of standard features, especially with the VR6. The DSG transmission provides a fantastic driving experience and the in-dash 6 CD player and iPod adapter are both very convenient. It's important to keep in mind that this is a sporty car, not a sports car, but as long as you're aware of that fact, you won't be disappointed.

I absolutely adore this car! It's so much fun to drive and obviously the hard top is fantastic! It's like watching a transformer! I would highly recommend this car to anyone. I live in the Northeast and it did really well in the snow this past winter, and we got tons of it! It's got a lot of pep and looks so sleek... I get a ton of compliments on it. Surprisingly, you can fit quite a bit in the trunk. I've had this car for 9 months now and it's the best car. I'm on my 7th VW, but this is the sportiest and most fun!

I drive a 2008 VW Eos 2.0T which I bought used in 2012. It has been such a reliable car that I have never had any significant problems with it, even when driving it year-round in Northern Alberta, Canada. My family and I have enjoyed the convertible so much that I have decided to semi-retire it and take it out on the road now and then. I can't wait to see heads turn and hear people say 'WHAT AN AWESOME CAR!' I know that in 20 years, it will be one of the few left and collectors will be calling. It's a win/win situation!

I purchased my eos in January 2007 and unfortunately, I have experienced several issues that the dealer has not been able to resolve. The first issue was a leaky driver's side window, which still leaks, although not as much as before. Additionally, the car bucks on acceleration, which is still a problem. Passengers have commented on feeling whiplash and have suggested that I should consider returning the car if the dealer is unable to fix it. During the winter, I have experienced frost on the inside of the front and back windshields, which is quite frustrating. Even when it is not cold enough for frost, I still get condensation on the same front and back windshields. It is quite disappointing to have to use a credit card to scrape the inside windows of a brand new car.

My wife's 2008 EOS has been experiencing multiple issues, including burning oil, problematic turbo, squealing brakes, and leaking top during rain. Despite taking it to two different dealerships, the problems were not resolved and the warranty has now expired. In my experience, I would not recommend purchasing a VW unless you are willing to deal with these issues and receive little to no assistance.

There are a few issues with this car. Firstly, when the key is removed from the ignition, the front windows drop slightly, which can be a bit of a problem when it's raining. Secondly, the radio antenna is located in the trunk, which can cause some issues with FM and Satellite radio reception. Lastly, the EOS doesn't perform well in snow, so we had to add sandbags to the trunk for better traction. Additionally, the trunk tends to freeze up when it's below 32 degrees. It's important to keep these things in mind before purchasing an EOS. I hope this information is helpful!

I have experienced multiple issues with my car, including leaks on both the passenger and driver's side, bubbling door panels, a separating sunroof closure, a problem with the back passenger side window, and squeaky brakes. I am curious to know how many times I must bring my car in for the same repair before it falls under the 'Lemon Law'. As a knowledgeable and informed customer, I am disappointed with these recurring issues.

The roof leaking and defective turbo seals causing oil consumption are well-known issues. Despite this, a recall has not been issued. It is concerning that the oil light does not come on until the engine is 31/2 qts low. Waiting 5000K miles can result in serious damage due to lack of oil. Unfortunately, attempts to fix the leaks have been unsuccessful despite multiple visits to the mechanic.
