- Summary: My daughter was driving on the freeway to work around 5am when her sunroof burst onto thousands of pieces. She stated "it sound like a massive explosion and scared her causing her to swerve her car." Thank God it was early in the morning, on a weekend, and with minimal traffic on the road. She was able to pull over safely, and call me. We have now been dealing with the insurance company that tells us the glass is covered, but safelite tells us they are unable to repair it. The volkswagen dealership told us their are 2 windows in the US inventory, but not able too locate them. The cost to repair is estimated $2,400. The dealership said this is a very common issue with the sunroofs to burst like this. My daughter's 2007 eos has less than 100,000 miles on it. Insurance won't total it as nothing is wrong to do so, and other than this window there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car. She can not drive it due to the safety risks of her head being exposed id wrecked, and the car at risk of theft. Please if this happens all the time then why are they not held responsible to replace it? It's just like the leaks on the arms of the hard top that volkswagenis definitelyaware of, and does nothing about. Maybe the un recalled seals that leak in the roof have something to do with the well known sunroof issues, and strings that dry rot out from getting wet. We have replaced the whole string kit and both arms with seals to the roof already. The dealership Larry Miller Volkswagen said these should be recalled due to as many as they have replaced over the years. Please help us. My daughter loves her car.

NOTICED THAT VW PUT OUT A TECH BULLETIN IN 2009 (15 09 03 DEC. 16, 2009 2015153 SUPERSEDES T. B. GROUP 15 NUMBER 09-02 DATED NOVEMBER 10, 2009 TO REVISE TECHNICAL DIAGNOSIS CODE IN WARRANTY TABLE.) BUT DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL. SERIOUSLY, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE TRUCK BEHIND ME SWERVED TO MISS ME. THE VEHICLE IS AN 2007 WITH THE 2.0T AND 96,000 MILES ON THE ODO. VW NOW CLAIMS THIS MODEL ISN'T UNDER ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT MY CLAIM WOULD BE DENIED. NOW I AM FORCED TO FIGURE OUT A $2,500 REPAIR.

THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY IMPACT OR VANDALISM. CONTACTED VW SERVICE DEPT WHO STATES THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPENING AND INDICATED NO RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS. WHEN LOOKING ONLINE THERE WAS IN FACT SEVERAL REPORTS OF VW SPONTANEOUS EXPLODED REAR GLASS AND EVEN MORE REPORTS OF EXPLODING SUN ROOFS. THANKFUL I WAS NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF IS NOT ATTRIBUTED TO A REPORTED VW PROBLEM, COSTING ME $750 TO GET REPAIRED. *TR

I READ HIS REPORT HE LIE SAYING IT WAS A WEAK BATTERY AS I SAID TOOK TO VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. I ALSO TALK TO A MECHANIC THAT WORK ON CARS STATED THAT IF THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON THE AIRBAG SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED BUT IT DID. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME PURCHASING A VOLKSWAGEN AND I PAID CASH FOR 20,000 AND I AM OUT OF MY MONEY. Hey there! Just wanted to share a quick tip for all you EOS owners out there. It turns out that if you don't lock the car, the battery can drain pretty quickly. My wife forgot to lock our EOS on Friday at 6 pm and when she tried to start it on Monday at 7 am, the battery was dead! We took it to the dealership, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So, just a friendly reminder to always lock your EOS to keep that battery happy and healthy. By the way, my Mercedes is parked outside in the snow and it's 4 years older than the EOS, but it still starts every time with the original battery from new, even though I leave it unlocked. Go figure!

I can tell you that I absolutely love my 2007 VW Eos! I ordered it and patiently waited for it, and when it finally arrived in December 2006, I was over the moon. Even though I live in NJ, I haven't put the top up yet. The windshield is a great feature, as it allows me to enjoy the convertible style and fun while still staying warm like I would in a sedan. Overall, I think this is truly a phenomenal car, and I couldn't be happier with my VW!

I bought the car brand new. During the first week, the hard top was leaking, which took about 3 weeks to fix. Since the car was so new, they had to order parts. Another issue that came up was the air bag light, which took another day or so to fix. After that, the pressure switch blew, which meant no AC in South Florida, and that is a must. Then, the malfunction light came on, and they are not sure what is wrong. Finally, there were a few recalls. I am a VW fan, and I had a Jetta that I loved, but I couldn't help trading it in for the EOS. Man, do I regret that move. I love the car's look and the powerful and fun drive, but I could live without visiting the dealership once a month for things that shouldn't be happening to a car that doesn't even have 25K miles on it!

Hey there! I've had my car for almost 2 years now and it's been a good ride, except for the top leaking from time to time. Unfortunately, I've run into another problem. My trunk lid won't pop open, along with my gas lid, and my windows won't roll up or down. To get the gas lid to pop open so I can refuel and make it to the dealership, I have to drop the top halfway, but my trunk won't pop open so I can't drop the top. I talked to a nearby mechanic and he explained that there are several modules that connect the 3 problems I'm having, so if one goes out, they all do. I'm not sure what to do, but I'm hoping you can help me out. (It turns out that someone had stolen a block fuse from under my hood at a car show.)

I'm on my second VW now. Initially, I was a bit hesitant to buy the Eos since I adore the look of the Cabrio (my first VW), but it was time for a new car so I went for it. And I'm so glad I did! Even though I haven't been able to put the top down yet (I purchased it in December), it's still so much fun to drive with the top up, especially since it also has a sunroof! The car is stunning from every angle and runs like a dream. The only thing I would change is having to hold the button down continuously to open the top. A one-touch opening would have been great. But let me tell you, when it opens, it looks-like the Bat mobile, as my 5-year-old niece describes it! It's a fantastic car, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves convertibles.

i've owned 3 Jettas and have always liked VW. that is until i traded in my 2008 Jetta for an 07 EOS. i've had the car only a year and have had 3 different services for leaks and window switches, etc. now that it is cold outside, the water is now freezing in the inside of the windows because of the water leaks. it seems no matter how many times i get the "windows adjusted" it keeps leaking. i'm taking it back and will not be buying another VW unless the dealership takes care of me. thank god i bought the extended warranty when i got the car. i would recommend anyone brave enough to buy one of these to get the extended warranty.

I have experienced several issues with my Eos since purchasing it, including problems with the window gears, window sensors, top malfunctions, top leaks, fuel pressure unit, and lumbar bladder. As a result, I have decided to part ways with this car after only 36,500 miles. Unfortunately, I have found the service at VW dealers to be subpar. While my wife's Passat has been built to a high standard, the same cannot be said for the Eos. Regrettably, this experience has led us to lose faith in VW as a brand.

The EOS is a beautiful car with great performance and outstanding gas mileage. However, I have experienced some serious problems with the engine, including oil burning and minor leaks. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this vehicle as I have had it break down twice in the last year, despite only driving it 8,000 miles. The service experience has also been disappointing, with long wait times before repairs can even begin. As a result, I have decided to explore other options such as Lexus, Infinity, or Acura. Thank you for considering my experience.

I bought my 2007 Eos used in 2009 with only 14,900 miles on it. I absolutely love the handling, comfort, and the gigantic moonroof. When the top is up, there is enough room in the trunk for our suitcases or whatever we need. Unfortunately, the car started burning oil almost immediately, and it only got worse over time. The engine was rebuilt in 2012 on VW's dime, but when we moved to California in 2015, the oil burning became so bad that we had to pay a big price tag to partially rebuild and clean out the gummed up, hardened oil in the head gasket. Even though the car still burns oil to the tune of half a quart to a quart for each fill-up (300 miles or so), I still love it. However, I won't be buying a VW again.
