2015 Gmc Yukon denali problems
Denali is a nameplate used by GMC for its highest trim level on its vehicles. Vehicles with the Denali trim option carry list prices up to 47% higher than base models. Prices range from $38,600 for GMC Terrain to $109,410 for a top-of-the-line Yukon XL Denali (as of 2023).
The Denali nameplate is often used as an insignia or status symbol, and in particular is popular as a less costly alternative to the Cadillac marque. The Yukon Denali line typically represents 40% of Yukon sales in both units and dollars. In 2013 it sold more than 75,558 units of the Denali brand, which accounted for 20% of GMC's sales, making it one of GM's most successful sub-brands.
History
The Denali nameplate started as the top-of-the-line version of the GMC Yukon for the 1999 model year. It was also GM's first attempt to go after sales from the new-for-1998 Lincoln Navigator. At the time of its introduction. General Motors decided to give Cadillac its own luxury SUV so the Denali's exterior was shared with the 1999 Cadillac Escalade, with only the front fascia and lower side body panels differing from the standard Yukon. Although the Yukon was redesigned alongside the Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe in 2000, the Yukon Denali, Escalade, and Tahoe Limited/Z71 retained their GMT400 base design.
The "Denali" brand was derived from the native Alaskan Athabaskans / Koyukon people's name for the tallest mountain in North America. It is also the name of the Denali National Park and Preserve that surrounds the mountain, as well as Denali State Park.

Common 2015 Gmc Yukon denali problems
The 2015 GMC Yukon Denali has been identified as one of the worst model years due to several common problems reported by owners.
Another reported issue is engine misfiring, which is caused by fuel injectors sticking in the closed position due to certain fuel additives. This problem requires replacing the impacted injector, which is not a significant expense.
The throttle position sensor is also a problematic area in the 2015 GMC Yukon Denali. It can cause reduced power and trigger the check engine light. The system may need to be replaced to fix the issue.
The tailgate light not working properly is another common problem reported by GMC Yukon owners. This issue is more of a cosmetic concern than a functional one, but it can still be frustrating. Replacing the whole fixture is the only solution to this problem, which can be relatively expensive.
Excessive oil consumption is another issue that affects the 2015 GMC Yukon Denali. This problem is not extreme, but it does mean that owning and maintaining a Yukon can be more expensive than other vehicles. Sealing the engine won't help fix this problem, and excessive oil consumption can get worse over time. The best solution is to carry the appropriate weight oil with you and check your oil levels regularly.
The 2015 GMC Yukon Denali is also prone to A/C failure, which can be relatively expensive to repair, with an average cost of $1k. The type of failure can impact the cost of the repair, which is worth noting.
In summary, the 2015 GMC Yukon Denali has several common problems that can affect its reliability and functionality. These issues range from cosmetic concerns to more significant mechanical problems that can impact the vehicle's performance and safety. It is essential to be aware of these issues and consider them before purchasing a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali.

POWER TRAIN,EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM

- VIN: 1GKS1CKJ2FR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: My vehicle is currently in the shop getting the motor worked on for a bad lifter. From the information the mechanic provided me this is a common issue with the vehicles that have the Active Fuel Management system. They are seeing many of these vehicles have to come in and have very expensive repairs. My first quote I received was $16, 000, they told me I needed a whole new motor and this assessment cost me $365 and a rental car while they looked at the truck. Now it is in the shop again and the estimate is $6000 to machine the cams as there are metal shavings in my oil. I had to again rent a rental vehicle and have not had my truck for a week. This is the third mechanic that has seen multiple of these motors have to be replaced or repaired due to this issue. I kept up on my oil changes and other recommended car maintenance and so did the owner before me. I had my last oil change approx. a week before the loud ticking noise began, then my vehicle began to have a noticeable loss of power when driving and eventually began shuttering and my check engine light began to blink and I took it to the shop. A year ago I had to replace my tail lights. I was able to find where others were recalled by my VIN for some reason was not included in the recall. They started shorting out and working only part of the time which is very dangerous when stopping, especially at night. I had them replaced and paid almost $700 for the two back lights.

POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-01
- VIN: 1GKS1BKC2FR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: My 5 children and I experience a traumatic experience in afternoon traffic as my 2015 GMC Yukon failed to pick up speed while waiting to make a left turn at a traffic light. The vehicle - no matter how hard I pressed on the gas didn't accelerate immediately which almost cost an accident. The vehicle rode smoothly for a few minutes then out of nowhere - it started jerking and stuttering bad for 15 seconds or so then would go back to riding smooth. When pressing the brakes - it seems to "lock" to a certain extent, so I have to press really hard on the brake to slow down/stop the vehicle sometimes makes a strange noise when doing so. I took the vehicle to be accessed by a service center in my area - it was at that time that I was told that my vehicle issues are known common GMC issues in these vehicles & more unfortunately. It's unfair to be penalized with an expensive transmission repair when these issues are known to the manufacture but not the consumer - despite being "VIN specific" as told by GMC customer service. This vehicle is needed as it is utilized to transport my children however, it's unsafe at & parked in my driveway. I was directed to reach out to GMC for remedy of the identified issues.

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-27
- VIN: 1GKS2CKJ9FR
- Components: Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness
- Summary: On, 9/27/23, I took my son to daycare around 9 am and went to Norfolk, NE for the day. I ran errands and had an appointment which my car sat in the sun for 1.5 hours at one time. Between stores we turned the air on as I had my oldest child with me. We came home to West Point, NE and picked up my other children about 4 pm. All car seat buckles were in normal working condition. I parked my car back in our attached garage on the East side of our house. Around 7:30 am on 9/28/23, I attempted to buckle my son again and noticed the male end of the chest clip was severely bent as if it had melted. My car has tinted windows in the second row where the car seat is located. The car sat in the sun, but not directly on the carseat, for the 1.5 hours while we were at the appointment. The car seat may have had direct sunlight while we were eating lunch which was no longer than 30 minutes. The car was again in the sun for another 2 hours but the carseat was not in direct sunlight during that time. Luckily, I had a spare carseat and was able to discontinue use of the car seat with the melted chest clip. I would not have been able to buckle the chest clip in the condition it was in on 9/28/23 ensuring the shoulder straps would be in the correct position on my child. The car seat has not been inspected by anyone other than myself.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-20
- VIN: 1GKS2BKC0FR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I have owned this vehicle almost 6 years, 40,000 when purchased used. Since purchase, we have had multiple issues with the trailer brake system randomly going off, dinging non stop, we had the problem serviced under our warranty and is now going off again. We do not tow but a few times every summer which is our jet skis however. This has happened multiple times prior to us using our warranty, the garage says they fix it but it keeps happening. I am very frustrated that I can't drive my vehicle down the road without a continues dinging. I looked up what "trailer brake system" means and found that it can be very dangerous and GMC's are known to have this problem, it is suggested that I lodge a complaint in hopes of getting this problem resolved from the manufacturer before a driver becomes seriously injured when the braking system decides to fail. I have read complaint after complaint. My warranty is now expired as I recently rolled over 100,000 miles, the GMC garage told me the part was around $78 but over $400 with install, ridiculous! I have already replaced this part a little over a year ago, I went to the garage where the warranty work was performed and got all the paperwork. Why has this problem not been categorized as a recall at this point? Something isn't right!

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-08-01
- VIN: 1GKS2BKC9FR
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: Fuel pump leak. our cabin fills up with exhaust causing myself and my 3 young kids (1,3,5) to start coughing, eyes and throat burning, headaches & a hard time breathing. confirmed by GMC dealer in concord & separate auto shop. They told us it had a recall and that they couldn't fix it after paying them to diagnose it since it was recall. Now GMC dealer is telling us that the problem and recall exists for other 2015 Yukon models but our VIN # Is not included and that's why they never fixed the problem that I've been complaining about since I bought the truck (dont remember exact purchase date but the vehicle was new and under warranty for years). I've taken it to the dealership 3 times for the same problem (exhaust smell in cabin) and they kept saying it's fine. Now it's so bad that we can't drive it because it makes us feel sick.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-02
- VIN: 1GKS2CKJ8FR
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: The taillights started to randomly go in and out. The driver side taillight stopped working but the passenger side taillight still worked. Then a day later the driver side taillight worked, but the passenger side taillight didn’t work. The next day we were going to look into this issue, and the driver and passenger side taillights were working, so we halted. We kept an eye on it and they seemed to continue to work for a few days with no issues, so drove it 20 miles to work. When I left work it was dark and I had a coworker check my brake lights before leaving and the running lights and brake lights were indeed working. By the time I arrived at home, I had no running or brake lights. This is and was a danger to others and myself as this could’ve caused an accident driving and the taillights going out. The truck did not give a warning message that I had no taillights.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-04-22
- VIN: 1GKS2CKJ0FR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I write to express my concern over an issue with my 2015 GMC Yukon that has also impacted other community members. In April, my Yukon, with just over 70k miles, broke down as I was turning from Rte 14 in Pembroke, MA onto Rte 53. At the time, I had my 3 & 5 year old children in the car with me. I could not get my vehicle to restart & had it towed to a local mechanic. After our local mechanic could not diagnose the problem, on 4/25/23, I had the vehicle towed to Marty’s GMC in Kingston, MA, where it was purchased. I had to call Marty’s regularly to check in on my vehicle before it was finally inspected. After 2 weeks, I was told that the valve spring needed to be replaced & the fluids flushed. I approved those repairs totaling $1600. After a couple of days, I received a phone call that there are issues with the lifters & brakes which would add another week of repairs & bring the costs up to $5,500. After another week, I received a call that there was more work to be done increasing the total cost of repairs by an additional $1,000. When I finally picked the car up, I was notified that the estimates I received were miscalculations & my repair costs totaled $7,512.23. Since this ordeal, I have talked to several GMC owners with cars of a similar age & low mileage. These owners have experienced the exact same issues. Throughout my conversations, I learned there is a service bulletin out on the issue with the lifters, but no recall. The lifter issue is a serious safety hazard. I have made multiple attempts to reach someone at GM’s corporate office to try & initiate a formal recall for the lifters. No one has been able to tell me how a recall gets issued. This whole ordeal has been a massive burden, both emotionally & financially for my family. It feels as though my young children & I were put in harm’s way for a known GMC issue that could have been avoided.
