2022 Ram Promaster problems
Ram Trucks, stylized as RAM and formerly known as the Ram Truck Division (of Chrysler), is an American brand of light to mid-weight trucks and other commercial vehicles, and a division of Stellantis (previously Fiat Chrysler Automobiles). It was established in a spin-off from Dodge in 2010 using the name of the Ram pickup line of trucks. Ram Trucks' logo was originally used as Dodge's logo. Ram 1500 "Classic" trucks are made at the Warren Truck Plant in Warren, Michigan, United States, and at the Saltillo plant in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. New series Ram 1500 pickups are made at Sterling Heights Assembly in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Since its inception, the brand has used the slogan "Guts. Glory. Ram."
Background
Prior to the 1970s, Dodge had maintained a separate marque for trucks, Fargo Trucks, primarily for use outside the United States. After that point, all trucks made by Chrysler were distributed under the Dodge marque.
In June 2009, when Chrysler emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Fiat Group received a 20% stake in Chrysler Group LLC and Sergio Marchionne was appointed CEO, replacing CEO Robert Nardelli. On June 10 that year, substantially all of Chrysler's assets were sold to "New Chrysler," organized as Chrysler Group LLC. The federal government provided support for the deal with US$8 billion in financing at near 21%. Under CEO Marchionne, "World Class Manufacturing" or WCM, a system of thorough manufacturing quality, was introduced and several products re-launched with quality and luxury. The Ram, Jeep, Dodge, SRT and Chrysler divisions were separated to focus on their own identity and brands.
Ram Trucks was established as a division of Chrysler in 2010, as a spin-off from Dodge, and using the name of the Dodge Ram line of pickups that is now sold under the Ram banner. According to Chrysler, the Ram Trucks brand will concentrate on "real truck customers," rather than casual truck buyers who buy trucks for image or style.
The Fiat Ducato cargo van design has been adopted and is sold as the Ram ProMaster in North American markets, filling the gap created when Daimler ended production of the Dodge Sprinter in 2008. The goal was to increase truck sales "from today's 280,000 to 415,000 by 2014."
Executives at Chrysler have stated their intention to compete in the semi-trailer truck category with Ram, a possibility that is aided by Fiat's ownership of Iveco and an already available network of Dodge dealers. Ram trucks are marketed separately from Dodge cars; former Ram Division President Fred Diaz stated, "Ram trucks are not a Dodge model. Ram will always be 'vinned' (Vehicle Identification Number) as a Ram. We need to continue to market as Ram so Dodge can have a different brand identity: hip, cool, young, energetic. That will not fit the campaign for truck buyers. The two should have distinct themes."
On July 21, 2011, Fiat bought the Chrysler shares held by the U.S. Treasury, increasing its stake in the company.
In April 2013, Diaz left Ram Trucks to serve as vice president of Nissan's divisional sales and marketing. He was replaced by Reid Bigland.
Fiat Chrysler formed as a new corporate entity in January 2014.
In August 2014, Ram Trucks CEO Reid Bigland was tapped to lead the Alfa Romeo brand in North America. It was announced that the new head of the Ram Trucks brand would be longtime Chrysler employee Robert Hegbloom, who joined Chrysler in 1986 and had been a director for Dodge. In October 2018, Bigland was promoted to CEO of Ram Trucks. Shortly thereafter, he discovered that the division had been misreporting sales figures and turned over that information to the U.S. government for investigation. Allegedly, FCA cut his bonuses in retaliation, which resulted in Bigland filing a whistleblower lawsuit against FCA. In March 2020, Bigland announced his resignation.
Stellantis formed in 2021 when Fiat Chrysler merged with the French PSA Group.
The Ram brand logo features the head of a ram, formerly the logo used by Dodge.

Common 2022 Ram Promaster problems
The 2022 RAM ProMaster City and ProMaster 1500 have been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the check engine light, electrical issues, and transmission performance.
- Electrical Problems: Some 2022 RAM ProMaster owners have reported electrical issues, such as the head unit (navigation, radio, etc.) intermittently shutting down and rebooting, and complete power loss, as if the battery was disconnected. These issues have been traced back to loose or corroded electrical connections, particularly the main engine ground wire that needs to be cleaned and reconnected to the transmission housing.
- Transmission Performance: The 2022 RAM ProMaster City has been criticized for its clunky transmission, especially at low speeds. Light acceleration at very low speeds often results in a sputtering or stalling sensation, which is particularly problematic for a vehicle designed for city driving.
These issues have been reported by various owners and dealerships, indicating that they are common problems with the 2022 RAM ProMaster City and ProMaster 1500. It is essential to address these issues promptly to prevent further damage and ensure the vehicle's safe and efficient operation.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-04
- VIN: 3C6MRVUG0NE
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: My tire pressure sensors are only working intermittently. The dealers are saying it’s because my van has factory window tint which interferes with the sensor transmission.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-21
- VIN: 3C6LRVBG3NE
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: While cruising at highway speed with adaptive cruise control enabled, the vehicle will incorrectly detect traffic/speed signs and will rapidly decelerate on a highway in traffic. I believe that the message that displays after detecting the new speed limit (improperly based on a sign other than a highway speed limit sign) without giving the option to reject using the "resume" button before. There is an option to disable traffic/speed sign detection, but that must be manually disabled in software every time the vehicle is re-started. Adjustment of the speed during adaptive cruise control based on traffic/speed signs should be disabled for safety. It's fine to have the speed limit displayed on the dash, but dangerous to have the vehicle adjust speed on its own without sufficient warning, or at all. I would like to request that RAM be directed to disable the software connection between traffic/speed sign detection and the adaptive cruise control so that, just like regular cruise control, the operator chooses the vehicle's speed. Note that this issue has happened many times since I've owned the vehicle, which was purchased as new, but I am now complaining to NHTSA because I experienced multiple incidents on my most recent trip that might have risked a rear-end collision from a vehicle following me when deceleration occurred.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-16
- VIN: 3C6MRVJG1NE
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Brakes failed (for the 4th or 5th time) while driving on the highway after approximately two hours. While traveling approximately 55mph on the highway (I do not drive engaging the brakes unless stopping) the Notice Service Braking System alert indicated on the dash. When I went to push in the brakes, they went to the floor, grinding and "pulsing" in and out as I attempted to stop. Please note that this issue has happened 3-4 times in the past and the dealership assures me this is normal. I was able to successfully get the vehicle to a dealership. THEY SAID THE STORED CODES MEANT NOTHING because they were stored and not active (see attached)That dealership stated they could not find anything wrong and therefore nothing to fix. I then drove the vehicle another two hours and the same thing happened. I got the vehicle to another dealership where it is now until they remedy the situation. In addition, when starting the vehicle from a cold state, the brakes often go to the floor and grind. Again, the dealership assures me this is 'normal' and to simply pump the brakes to remove excess air. This is a new vehicle with less than 8k miles, purchased new and has been occurring since purchased.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-09
- Crash: 1
- VIN: 3C6LRVDG7NE
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: On 11/2022 my company purchased a 2023 Dodge Promaster Work Van from a dealership brand new. In March 2023 one of my employees was driving the vehicle and there was an electrical issue which caused the breaks to not respond, and we rear ended a car which then hit the car in front of them. We were only going around 10-20 MPH as we were coming to a red light and could not stop. We requested an investigation into the source of the issue as it should not be out fault that a brand new car's breaks failed. Chrysler corporate sent someone to look at the van. They concluded that after market LEDs were installed in the back of the van improperly, and it caused a short in the electrical system which caused the breaks to fail. Chrysler Corporate said it was not their issue and closed the case. After looking at pictures from before we ever even looked at the van I saw that the LEDs were already there. The dealership admitted in email that the LEDs were in the van before we even took it off the lot. I told my insurance company this, but they did not pursue it leaving the liability on us. My insurance then dropped us as a customer. The dealership stated in email they fixed the LED lights and everything works once again. We take the van and begin using it again. Fast forward to March 2024, a different worker is driving the same van and they are again coming to a red light. The breaks fail once again. This time the breaks were going to the ground and not slowing the van down at all. My worker hits another car and then turns off and hits a fence so he does not hit anyone else in the road. This time I send my van to my local certified Chrysler dealership to have it sit there as I will initiate an inspection once again. After another month or so they finally inspect it around April 20th. This time after the inspection finishes, but does not give me a reason just meta data. You can see we used the breaks, but the speed did not slow down. This van has been a nightmare.

STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-03
- VIN: 3C6LRVDGXNE
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: The engine cowl between the windshield and the hood has been failing since day 1. This is a 2023/2022 Promaster 2500/Winnebago Solis. Winnebago says RAM is responsible and RAM says it is a non issue. The engine bay floods every time it rains. I have to cover it in and out to hopefully prevent engine and computer damage. There are many hundreds of events of flooding and damage with no admission of cowl and windshield damage. With fires becoming more prevalant, I am concerned with a fire, a life threat to me and my family. We need some kind of help. Please check this all over the web. It is a problem for all Promaster. I only get a Non Issue from RAM AND NOTHING FROM Winnebago. I have sent pictures and videos to both. NOTHING BACK. Maybe there are people are knowable in fixing. I believe this is an extremely serious, life threating issue. Water and electricity never mixes. Please HELP.10

The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle however, the warning lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the dealer became aware that there was water inside the power steering connector and determined that the steering rack and wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 26,602.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-18
- VIN: 3C6MRVJG1NE
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: This is a brand new purchased vehicle on April 18. I experienced complete brake failure was able to get off the interstate and the brakes vibrated would smash down as vibrating and then ground against metal is what it sounded like when I would press. I had it flatbed towed, and the truck driver also noted the problem. Once the truck was back at my home it no longer had the problem. I took it to a dealership. They did not find anything wrong. I once again took the vehicle to drive it and the brake system is completely malfunctioning again with the pedal, smashing all the way to the floor and Again metal on metal. The vehicle is completely unsafe and undrivable.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-26
- VIN: 3C6MRVJG1NE
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: The chassis battery keeps dying after a few days. There was a recall for awning to correct issue because it would open on its own. We did recall now there is another one for seatbelt. But no one is addressing the battery that keeps draining. We replaced battery already once. Dodge said it will go dead after a week no matter what. Ours don’t even make it 4 days. This is a safety issue because of the awning opening but it affects the battery. We would get stuck and no one to jump us.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-03
- Fire: 1
- VIN: ZFBHRFAB2N6
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: On November 3, 2023 I was driving the van on the NYS Thruway. I had stopped at a rest area to use the facilities. When I returned to the van about 5 minutes later the vehicle was smoking profusely and objects were falling out of the engine area. By the time i got to the van there were flames coming out of the engine area and the entire front of the van was engulfed in flames. Luckily someone had called the fire department and the flames were extinguished quickly. In the meantime I had removed 2 Alpacas from the rear of the van with the help of witnesses. There were no warning signs of an issue with the engine. No warning lights and not burning odor. So, yes, I feel the I, my alpacas, and others safety were put at risk. I am so thankful that the fire started while I was stopped at the rest area and not while driving on the thruway and avoided a real tragedy. The van is a total loss. The incident has been reported to insurance and currently under investigation and are waiting a final report.
STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-22
- VIN: 3C6LRVDGXNE
- Components: STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: This is to report a safety report for a potentially serious, even fatal windshield, body, engine and transmission defect. Rain water pours down the windshield and floods the engine overcoming al engine parts especially electrical, transmission and engine parts that should remain dry and safe. Windshield to cowl to engine compartment will flood and overcome safety equipment. When driving in rain I received electronic messages of failure. Headlights flood which could lead to a disaster. Ram will not admit part failures, but the constant flooding is well documented. Please help the many thousands of Ram Promasters get a recall which can save lives and their vehicles. Research will give you hours and hours of similar series problems. Please help us get Stealantis/Ram to own up to this manufacturing mishap. Thanks
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-07-25
- VIN: 3C6MRVUG3NE
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Van brakes unexpectedly causing loss of control of vehicle for up to 5 seconds. Cannot accelerate when this occurs. While entering a major highway and accelerating, the van braked on its own and would not accelerate causing a semi to almost run into the back end of the van. The braking happens frequently and without warning. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it will occur as in road conditions, speed, curves, weather, etc. Took to Lithia dealership in Billings, MT four times and the problem still has not been resolved. 10 Aug 2022: Lithia could not verify the forward collision error. 1 May 2023: Lithia pulled code C14A5 sensor blinded and ordered new camera. 7 July 2023: Lithia pulled code B1006-49 internal electronic failure, removed and replaced the FFCM and calibrated the camera. 25 Sep 2023: Lithia pulled code C14A5-92 sensor blinded and the FFCM was recalibrated Turned Forward Collision off but the unexpected braking still occurs. This issue has been ongoing ever since I purchased the van in July 2022. This is an extreme safety issue as I have absolutely NO CONTROL over the van when the forward collision takes over.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-09
- VIN: 3C6LRVDG9NE
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: When driving on a freeway or highway, without cruise control on, & the pavement surface changes color &/or texture (eg: going onto a bridge/overpass) the vehicle will decelerate quickly & without us pressing the brakes. All the systems were checked by Dodge Ram & were showing no errors with software etc, as we thought this was traction control not working properly due to a software problem etc.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-26
- VIN: 3C6MRVHG0NE
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Forward Collision Warning ("FCW") shuts down during vehicle operation, FCW Off dash warning light comes on, dash message system indicates FCW system restarting a couple of times, and then messages FCW unable to start, take unit to the dealer for servicing. This happens about every other time vehicle is started. Vehicle taken into local dealer twice, the last being on May 22, 2023, where dealer confirmed it was able to reproduce problem. From repair invoice: " 2960 NEEDS FORWARD FACING CAMERA FOR HALF CAMERA FAULT Cl4A5-92. SENSOR BLINDED BUT CANNOT REPLACE DUE TO CHRYSLER CALIBRATION PROCEDURE CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME." I purchased unit brand new, 59 miles on odometer. FCW turning off has happened intermittently since I purchased (February 2023). I reached out to the manufacturer, FCA LLC, last month via e-mail and they could not provide and expected date replacement/repair parts will be available. My assigned service advisor at the local dealer no longer returns my calls or e-mails on when part will be available. Please note other 2022-23 Promaster owners have the same forward collision warning problem too. SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-06
- VIN: 3C6MRVJG9NE
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: The left brake actuator (68603568AA) literally fell apart on the vehicle at 40,000 miles. This triggered a warning on the dash and disabled emergency braking as well as cruise control. The local RAM dealers refuse to do anything about it because the warranty expired 4,000 miles ago, so we took it to an independent mechanic. They ordered the replacement part but informed us it was back ordered with no ETA and that there are no aftermarket parts available. After an exhaustive search, the mechanic was able to secure the factory part, only to find out the right actuator (68591375AA) was in a box labeled for the left side. I personally spent several days looking for another. I even called dealerships in Canada and was told it’s on a “continent-wide backorder with no ETA." Finally, we were able to secure another, only to discover the exact same problem upon arrival. Now, the mechanic has been trying to order a right-hand actuator in the hope the left one might be in the wrong box as well and a THIRD left. The vehicle has been completely inoperable for over two months, with no end in sight. This vehicle is critical to our business and we've had to rent a replacement at over $500 a week. So far, this has cost now us over $3,000...for what should have been a $200 part and an hour of shop labor. I strongly believe Stellantis should be covering all of this for us, as they are the ones responsible for the complete lack of parts availability for critical safety parts such as emergency brakes and considering how close the problem was to the warranty expiration.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-15
- VIN: 3C6MRVJG0NE

- Summary: Lemon Law Initiated, Chrysler/Mopar Case #[XXX] Support requested for refund of Ram Promaster fleet purchase from Johnson Auto Plaza via [XXX] Johnson Auto Plaza (originating dealer) 112410 East 136th Brighton, Colorado 80601 [XXX] 06/15/2023 Paonia, Colorado RAM would not turn off--keyless malfunction apparently Roamly RV Insurance did not respond to Roadside Assistant I did not know at the time that I could have/should have contacted Mopar RAM continues to run so our best option at the time was to drive toward the closest Ram Dealer in Montrose, Colorado---30.99 miles away Flower Motor Company 2580 North Townsend Avenue Montrose, Colorado 81401 Unfortunately, the Fuel ran low via dashboard alert--RAM would not turn off after repeated attempts, so against our better judgement, we added fuel with the SAFETY ISSUE (!!!) of adding fuel to an running vehicle. Again, with what seemed like the only option, we reluctantly added fuel WHILE THE RAM WAS RUNNING!!!! SO SCARY!!!!! SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-09
- VIN: 3C6MRVWG1NE
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Absolutely ZERO service parts availability for over a year now for the REAR BRAKE SYSTEM. no Rotors, brake pads, caliper assemblies from any RAM dealer in the US. This is a relatively new vehicle, however we cannot service our brake system because RAM will not supply the market with service parts!
EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-21
- VIN: 3C6LRVPG1NE
- Components: EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY
- Summary: The contact owns a 2022 Ram Promaster 2500 equipped with a Mobility Network I-Class Model, S/N: 75864-2020. The contact stated while lowering the wheelchair lifter with 600 pounds on the lift, the lift rubbed against the rear tires. The contact lifted the wheelchair lifter and noticed that the lift also rubbed against the rear tires. The contact checked the manual of the wheelchair lift and noticed that the lift was installed incorrectly, and that it was missing the filler plates, causing the floor of the vehicle to deform and causing the lifter to rub against the rear tires of the vehicle. The installation company was contacted but the installation company provided no assistance. The wheelchair lift was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 9,239.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-11-27
- VIN: 3C6LRVBG9NE
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: When using Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Traffic Sigh Assist (TSA) engaged (the default) on an interstate or other high speed road - for example the current highway speed limit is 65 and the ACC maximum speed is also set at 65 MPH, the TSA (wrongly) detects a much lower speed limit, say 25 MPH, the system flashes a warning AND AUTOMATICALLY APPLIES THE BRAKES without allowing the driver to respond to the warning message. According to the user manual, what is supposed to happen, is that the TSA warning message displayed on the dash says "new speed limit detected" and SUGGESTS that the driver can accept the detected speed limit as the new ACC maximum speed by pressing the RES resume button on the the steering wheel. If the driver does not respond, the ACC max speed stays as set. This is seriously dangerous! imagine going 65 MPH in heavy traffic and suddenly, unexpectedly the brakes are applied so violently that the vehicle skids and swerves out of its lane. This has happened multiple times to me. I believe this is caused by 2 problems: 1 The TSA wrongly detects a significantly lower speed limit sign. I don't know for sure but I guess it might "see" a sign on an exit ramp or parallel service road. 2 The vehicle automatically sets the new TSA speed as the ACC top speed and automatically applies the bakes instead of allowing the driver the option of setting the new speed limit by pressing the RES button. I have spent the last week trying to report this to the RAM dealer and Customer Care but they don't seem to be very responsive. They say I should schedule and pay for a diagnostic session but they have no openings until mid-January. Even if I took it in, I doubt the diagnostics would show anything because this is most likely a software issue. It would also be difficult to duplicate on local roads. I do know another person who has reported this same problem on YouTube and is able to recreate it as detecting a speed limit sign on a parallel service road.
AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-23
- VIN: 3C6MRVUGXNE
- Components: AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: 1. Service Airbag Warning Light - illuminates on the dash every 15-20 minutes while driving 2. Forward Collision Warning icon illuminates on the dash every time the vehicle is driven, regardless of the number of times it is turned off via the settings feature on the UConnect display. SOS Call Unavailable/Please visit an authorized dealer - this message pops up on the UConnect display every 15-20 minutes while vehicle is driven. I have taken the vehicle to a Ram/Chrysler dealership in Tucson, AZ. and the dealer has stated that they found nothing wrong with the vehicle and if the issue persists, there is nothing they can do and that I should just wait for a "bug" fix to be provided by Chrysler Corporation to address any potential software issues. I feel unsafe driving the vehicle, as I do not know if the airbag will deploy if i'm ever involved in a collision.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-11-01
- VIN: 3C6MRVJG0NE
- Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: While using adaptive cruise control and traffic sign assist, the vehicle has a feature called intelligent speed assist. It is supposed to detect new speed limits signs and ask the user if they want to adjust their set speed. Instead, the feature automatically changes the set speed without user input. For example, you are going down the highway with adaptive cruise control set to 75 mph. The vehicle erroneously picks up a lower speed limit of 45 mph (could be for feeder road, highway exit speed, or old construction sign, etc...). Within a few seconds the vehicle begins to aggressively brake on the highway in order to reach the lower speed limit. This is very dangerous as it is a surprise to the driver and could result in a collision.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-11-12
- VIN: 3C6MRVJG1NE
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: The text coincides with this video I made. Here is its URL. https://youtu.be/hpA-Dw_-ihY This is my second time reporting this issue. My first report was comprised of just text. I was told that a video would be more helpful. The issue follows: Periodically when I have been using Adaptive Cruise Control the van will automatically, harshly apply the brakes in the middle of the highway. It took me a while to figure out what was happening. It has to do with Traffic Sign Assist which is enabled by default. When the van detects a speed limit sign that is at a speed limit slower than what I am traveling, a message appears on the dash that says "New Speed Limit Detected. Press "Res" to Reject" This is the opposite of the way the owners manual says Traffic Sign Assist should work. The owner's manual says when a new speed limit is detect the user will be given the OPTION to accept the new speed. The manual says, if the user does not accept the new speed the vehicle will continue as it was. It will not apply the brakes. The consequence of the way it is implemented in my van is that if you do not see the message (because your eyes on the road) the van will AUTOMATICALLY apply the brakes. I have had it happen when traveling 65 mph and encountered a 25 mph speed limit sign at an exit. It only occurs with white speed limit signs. A 45 MPH speed limit sign appears on a service road at time :16. Just as the speed limit passes out of my FOV the message appears on the dash and the brakes are applied when I do not press "Res" to reject the new speed limit sign. Each of the times it happened in this video, first when it encountered a 45 mph sign and later when it detected a 55 mph, I was not expecting it. If you zoom into the video, or the attached picture, you can see the message.
