THE CONTACT NOTIFIED A LOCAL DEALER WHO CAME TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP FOR INVESTIGATION. THE MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY MALFUNCTIONING OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

- Summary: TAKATA RECALL / MY CAR HAD A GM RECALL 15757. IT INVOLVED THE REPLACEMENT OF MY ENGINE FRONT VALVE COVER AND FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET. I TOOK IT TO THE GATEWAY BUICK GMC ON 3/5/2016. AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED I FOUND OUT MY ENGINE PLASTIC BEAUTY COVER WAS MISSING. I WAS TOLD IT DIDNT FIT BECAUSE OF THE NEW PARTS. IT IS UNEXCEPTABLE THAT MY ENGINE IS LEFT EXPOSED AND THERE WASNT A NEWLY DESIGNED PLASTIC BEAUTY COVER. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE RESULT. PLUS, MY CAR IS NOW MISFIRING AND BEFORE I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE AND NOT MISFIRING. MY SPARK PLUG WIRES WERE LOOSE AND EASILY DETACHED FROM THE CONNECTION WHERE THE SPARK PLUG CONNECTS AS IF IT WAS PULLED CARELESSLY. I REGRET TAKING MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL. MY CAR SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS PERIOD AFTER SERVICE.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 8 recalls for different components of the 1999 Pontiac Grand prix.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1997-2004 Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. The affected vehicles were previously repaired under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 to address the possibility that engine oil may drip onto the hot exhaust manifold.
- Consequence: Engine oil that drips onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold may result in a fire.
- Remedy: The remedy applied under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engines front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, or 15V-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on February 19, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Oldsmobile customer service at 1-800-442-6537 and Pontiac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 15757. As far as performance goes, the Grand Prix GT is hands down the best car I've ever owned. I will never go back to imports thanks to this car. However, I do wish it had a more comfortable armrest. Even with two coffees in the cupholders, I know it's not the biggest issue, but it is for me. Overall, I highly recommend buying this car. I can't wait until I can buy a brand new one!

At first, I was a bit skeptical about buying the Grand Prix, but now I'm so glad I did! This car has been incredibly reliable, fun, and economical.

I have been wanting this car for a long time because of its power and styling. However, I have been experiencing some nitpicky problems that have been quite annoying. I have had to replace the window motor three times and the radio four times. Additionally, the temperature control dial sticks and one of the door panels is loose. Unfortunately, there isn't a good dealer in my area. The car has also developed some leaks that were expensive to repair. Despite these issues, I still enjoy the car. It's only three years old, so I hope that there won't be any more problems in the future.

Although my car has had some issues, I have found that it has not met my expectations. I have experienced problems with the fuel system, interior pieces falling off/apart, exhaust system, body panels separating (plastic to metal), fuel economy, creaking and rattles that have developed, and suspension. However, I have driven this car for 87,000 miles, which is more than its intended lifespan of 80,000 miles. Overall, I believe that this car has not been built to last and has not met my expectations.

I purchased the car with 112K miles on it. Unfortunately, I had to fix the front axle immediately. After half a year, the fuel pump went out, and then the torque converter had to be worked on, which came with a hefty price tag of $1500. The brakes also needed work, and the engine on the power window broke. Additionally, the AC had to be fixed. Every time it rains, water gets in the trunk and under the driver's seat. The windshield had to be replaced, and since it has a display on it, it was expensive. Now, the torque converter has broken again, and the car has only reached 143K miles. I have put more money into repairs than I paid for the car. Despite doing all the maintenance and never abusing it, I will never buy this car again or recommend it to anyone I know.

I bought my vehicle in a difficult situation, but I have come to realize that American cars are not my preference. The imports, such as Honda and Toyota, have made great strides in engine technology, interior quality, and exterior paint. They also tend to hold their value better. For the amount of money I paid for my 3100 V6, I would have preferred to buy a 6-cylinder V-tec in the Accord or the V-tec in the Prelude. There is definitely room for improvement.

Congratulations on your purchase of the 1999 Gold edition Grand Prix GT! It's impressive that the car has only 105,000 km on it. Unfortunately, I had to have the brake lines from the firewall back all replaced, but the mechanic who did the job was able to replace all the brake lines in his 1999 Chevy pick-up, which is unbelievable! I did notice that the hood release cable doesn't work when it's cold outside, but if you can wrestle the hood open, afterward the hood will close properly. Additionally, I was warned to replace the rubber bush mounts (suspension) on both the left and right side. Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase and excited to see where the road takes me!
