2004 Pontiac Grand prix problems
The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 until 2002 as coupes and from 1989 through 2008 model years as four-door sedans.
First introduced as a full-size performance coupe for the 1962 model year, the model varied repeatedly in size, luxury, and performance during its production. The Grand Prix was the most expensive coupe Pontiac offered until the 1970s, when the Bonneville Brougham and the Firebird Trans Am became more exclusive. Among the changes were positioning in the personal luxury car market segment and mid-size car offering from the second generation to the fifth generation for the sedan and from the second generation to the sixth generation from the coupe.
All Grand Prixs from 1962 through 1972 were pillarless hardtops (except for the 1967 convertible),

OIL DRIPPED ON THE MANIFOLD. MY CAR STILL SITS IN THE IMPOUND AT $30 A DAY. I HAVE LEFT NUMEROUS MESSAGES AND EMAILS ASKING FOR UPDATES AND RESOLVE. The affected vehicles were previously repaired under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 to address the possibility that engine oil may drip onto the hot exhaust manifold.
- Consequence: Engine oil that drips onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold may result in a fire.
- Remedy: The remedy applied under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engines front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, or 15V-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on February 19, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Oldsmobile customer service at 1-800-442-6537 and Pontiac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. - Consequence: The leaking engine oil can drip onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold, increasing the risk of a fire.

Great Car. It looks great and handles great. It has very good power and impressive braking. The HUD (Heads-up display) is sweet and the information center is very informative.

I bought this car when it had only 6k miles on it, and now it has 64k. I absolutely love it! The engine is a monster, and the air conditioning still works like a charm. The sound system, however, is pretty pathetic, and a few of the speakers are torn. In terms of drive quality, this car really gives me the power I want and offers a majestic cruising experience. While Honda and Toyota would have set me back a few more thousand dollars, I don't see where I lost out with this car. One major issue I have is with the seating in the back; it's extremely cramped, and most people have complained of nausea because of the claustrophobic rear styling. Despite this, I plan to keep this car until it dies. My last American car got me 268k miles, so I have miles to go before this one sleeps!

This vehicle achieved excellent gas mileage, consistently getting 30 mpg instead of the low 20's that I was led to believe. It provided me with great satisfaction during the months of $4 per gallon fuel prices. The seats are comfortable, there is nice large trunk space and flip-down seats, and it is easy to control and drive. No major repairs were needed. The only negatives were a shortage of cupholders, some road noise, and red dashboard lighting. Overall, I would say that this is an excellent vehicle for the average driver.

This is by far the grandest of all my vehicles. I absolutely love it! I get an impressive 27-28 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway. The power in the engine is great and the hauling space with the fold down back seats AND the extra fold back front passenger seat is fantastic. This was my first vehicle with traction control and it made a huge difference this past winter when I was on black ice and didn't even know it. This car is definitely a keeper. It's such a shame to hear that Pontiac Grand Prix was discontinued.

I was blown away by the interior! The updated HUD, XM, OnStar, new steering wheel controls, and sound system are all amazing features for the price. The horsepower is impressive, and the TapShift feature keeps those teenie boppers from trying to race me at stoplights. The dealership was fantastic with their 24-hour test drive program, which really got me hooked. I was already a fan, but now I'm a full-blown fanatic!

I purchased my car with 24,000 miles on it and it came with a factory exhaust system. It has been a reliable car for me, but unfortunately, I experienced some issues around the 40,000 mile mark. During a routine oil change, I was informed that there were metal particles in the transmission fluid. I had to do a transmission flush and add Lucas Trans Lube to it. It took two full flushes to remove all the metal from the system. Now, at 88,000 miles, a new mechanic has advised me to change the transmission fluid again, which would make it the third flush in 88,000 miles. The manual recommends one transmission change at 100,000 miles. At 65,000 miles, I received a check gas cap and check engine light warning. The computer indicated a leak in the exhaust manifold. I have decided to trade in the car before investing more money into it.

I used to own a 99 and absolutely loved it every day. However, I decided to trade it for a more 'adult' version with leather and a sunroof. Unfortunately, I quickly became unhappy with my decision. The sunroof had some hesitation issues for the first 3 years, but eventually fixed itself. Additionally, the front end has required at least 6 repairs, and the car has gone through a set of tires in just 8 months. I've also had issues with tie rods, bushing alignment, and the interior has not held up well. My 6-foot husband can't even get into the car without adjusting the steering wheel and seat. The 'leather' is cracking, the wheel is peeling, and the plastic is impossible to clean. I really miss my 99 in so many ways. It was a much larger car and got better mileage. I'm not a fan of leather, especially this leather, and the AM radio is affected by sunspots or something twice a year, which is weird.

I had a terrible experience with a car I purchased in the past. Despite the dealer's attempts to fix the issues, the car spent more time in the shop than on the road during the two months I owned it. Unfortunately, the problems were beyond repair, including the rear suspension, air conditioner, and even leaks during heavy rainstorms. In the end, I decided to trade it in for a 2005 Chevy Impala, which was a much better choice for me. I have no plans to purchase a Pontiac again.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that you traded your '06 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Hemi for this car. While it's okay, I understand that you miss having a truck. It sounds like you've had a few issues with the car, like the stability track module, moonroof, and window motors. Luckily, the car has a maxcare warranty from CarMax that's good for 100k miles. It's great that the previous owner kept detailed maintenance records. If you're looking for something bigger and more powerful, I'm sure you'll find the perfect car soon!

When I was a college student at 18, I bought this car. Unfortunately, I found out the same week that it had bad wheel bearings. Throughout the year, I had some problems with it, such as it started leaking anti-freeze, causing my heat not to work, and then my motor blew up. I had to replace it with another Pontiac motor. Not even a month later, while taking a right turn on Main Street, my car wouldn't move, and I found out that my transmission was falling out of my car. I did not have the gears R, D, N, 3. After having the car for 7 months, I decided to sell it for parts. Although I kept the outside and inside very clean, I only got $400 out of it. I will never buy a Pontiac car again. However, I understand that everyone's experience is different, and this is just my personal experience.
