HAD THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY ON A HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH OR MORE WE MAY HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. EXAMINATION OF THE STRUT ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SHOWED IT ALSO WAS SIGNIFICANTLY RUSTED AND NO DOUBT IT TOO WOULD HAVE COLLAPSED AT SOME FUTURE POINT. 2005 Pontiac Grand prix recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2005 Pontiac Grand prix.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, 1997-2003 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2005 Malibu Classic, 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am and 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 9, 2014. GM's number for this recall is 14350.
- Manufacturer: DORMAN PRODUCTS, INC.
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: DORMAN IS RECALLING 979 STEERING KNUCKLES, DORMAN P/NOS. 697-902 AND 697-903, SOLD UNDER DORMAN'S "OE SOLUTIONSTM" BRAND NAME, AND NAPA P/NOS. 7-8502 AND 7-8503 WHICH WERE SOLD FOR REPLACEMENT USE ON THE VARIOUS VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA.
- Consequence: A BROKEN STEERING KNUCKLE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A POSSIBLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
- Remedy: DORMAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE STEERING KNUCKLES FREE OF CHARGE AND REIMBURSE THE REPAIR FACILITY OR OWNER FOR LABOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 23, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DORMAN'S TOLL-FREE HOTLINE AT 1-800-523-2492 AND PRESS 5.

This is a fantastic car! It always turns heads when I'm driving around town. The seats are incredibly comfortable, almost as good as my ma's Lexus. The car handles like a dream, making it so much fun to take corners at high speeds (although I only do this occasionally, being only 20 years old!). The engine is powerful and impressive - I even beat a newer Mustang off the line last week! Although, I do think that the build quality could be improved as there are some rattles. Unfortunately, I had to take it to the shop last week because it wasn't running properly in the mornings. They said it was due to an outdated computer, but hopefully, it's all sorted now.

This car is really impressive and exceeds most drivers' expectations for a $30k car. The interior is cleverly designed, practical and leads to an overall enjoyable driving experience. And let's not forget about the 3.8 supercharged V6, which is a true guilty pleasure. Together with the TAP-SHIFT paddles on the steering wheel, it can make you feel like a race car driver. However, if you prefer a more relaxed driving experience, this car can also deliver a serene yet communicative ride. Although some may find the Comp-G suspension a little harsh, the ride is well controlled and confidence-inspiring, and the car as a whole is rock-solid stable at high speeds...or so I've heard, heh, heh.

Although this car was the most expensive one I have purchased, it has been in the shop for 4 major issues 6 times in just over 2 years. Despite the issues, I have been proactive in addressing them and have had the necessary repairs done. I am confident that any future issues will be resolved in a timely and efficient manner. While I am concerned about the possibility of further problems, I am committed to ensuring that this car remains in good condition.

I purchased this car new and have driven it for 76K miles. Unfortunately, I have had to replace the front hub and will soon need a second rear wheel speed sensor. Additionally, the heads-up display is currently out of order. I have experienced some issues with the car's electrical and fuel systems, which have left me stranded on the road three times. These issues seem to occur during hot weather and stop-and-go driving, and it's been difficult to pinpoint the cause. The first time this happened, I was stuck in Nashville for a weekend. Despite these challenges, I have enjoyed driving this car. However, I have noticed that the front end is starting to show signs of wear and tear. Overall, this has been the most expensive car to maintain out of the three new GM cars I have owned. Interestingly, my 1990 Baretta with 240K miles has required less maintenance than this car!

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my thoughts on the Gran Prix. Personally, I think it's a great car, especially if you're someone who drives a lot (like me!). With a lifespan of 8 years and 160k miles, it's definitely a reliable option that won't break the bank. While some people might prefer foreign cars in this class, I think the Gran Prix is just as good (if not better!) and at a much more affordable price. I'm really going to miss mine when it's time to move on!

Although my Grand Prix has been taken into the shop a couple of times due to what felt like the transmission slipping, I am confident that the issue will be resolved. Despite the fact that they couldn't find anything wrong, they did fix a recall that was on the car. I am impressed with the style of the car and its power.

Apparently Pontiac Motors seems to have used a lot of plastic in the interior of a $30,000 retail car. However, I respectfully disagree. The car performs fantastically, with great power and exceptional handling. If pushed too hard, the car may understeer, but overall it handles very well. While the brakes are not track-ready and may not hold up to consistent pounding, they are still decent. It's important to keep in mind that the car is a wide body and may be difficult to park. Despite these considerations, I personally love the car.
