- Summary: The power steering angle sensor malfunctioned/stopped working properly at approx. 197,000 miles. The part was taken out and replaced by a local GM dealership. With the sensor malfunctioning, we experienced intermittent loss of power steering as well as shaking in the steering column which made it suddenly VERY difficult to steer. We lost power steering mid-drive many times and could have been killed because of this issue. The vehicle would be functioning completely normally and all of a sudden lose power steering mid-turn or while backing up and become nearly impossible to control. The problem was corrected out of pocket from us by a GM dealership service center. Unknown if it has been inspected. The dash light "ESC" would come on AS the power steering disengaged, but not until then. The dash display would also show "power steering" after we lost the power steering, but not before as a warning or anything.

- Manufacturer: Dorman Products, Inc.

- Summary: Dorman Products, Inc. (Dorman) is recalling certain replacement intermediate steering shafts sold under the Dorman, OE Solutions, and Solutions brand names, part numbers 425-167, 2425167, and 7-3074, for installation on 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, 2005-2010 Pontiac G6, and 2007-2009 Saturn Aura vehicles. The affected steering shafts may have a yoke that inadequately supports the u-joint bearing resulting in a premature failure.
- Consequence: A joint bearing that fails prematurely may cause separation of the u-joint resulting in a complete loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dorman will notify owners, and dealers will refund the purchase price or replace the steering shafts, free of charge. The recall began in September 2014. Owners may contact Dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles manufactured May 16, 2003, through October 11, 2012, 2004-2007 Malibu Maxx vehicles manufactured June 25, 2003, through April 5, 2007, 2005-2010 Pontiac G6 vehicles manufactured May 26, 2004, through January 4, 2010, and 2007-2010 Saturn Aura vehicles manufactured April 24, 2006, through May 26, 2009. In the affected vehicles, increased resistance in the Body Control Module (BCM) connection may result in voltage fluctuations in the Brake Apply Sensor (BAS) circuit. These fluctuations can cause one or more of these conditions: the brake lights to illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed; the brake lights to not illuminate when the pedal is pushed; difficulty disengaging the cruise control; moving the gear shifter out of the 'PARK' position without pushing the brake; and disablement of crash avoidance features such as traction control, electronic stability control, and panic braking assist features.
- Consequence: Any of the above failure conditions increases the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will attach the wiring harness to the BCM with a spacer, apply dielectric lubricant to both the BCM and harness connector and the BAS and harness connector, and will relearn the brake pedal home position, free of charge. The manufacturer distributed an Interim letter to customers on July 14, 2014. The recall began on August 18, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), 1-800-762-2737 (Pontiac), 1-800-553-6000 (Saturn). GM's number for this recall is 13036.

- Consequence: If the tabs were to fracture and separate, the shift lever and the actual position of the transmission gear may not match. The driver would be able to move the shifter to 'PARK' and remove the ignition key, but the transmission gear may not be in 'PARK.' The vehicle may not be able to be restarted and the vehicle could roll away after the driver has exited the vehicle, resulting in a possible crash without prior warning.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install a retainer over the cable end or replace the shift cable as necessary. This service will be performed free of charge. Notification to owners began on on November 9, 2012. Owners were instructed to not bring their vehicles for repair until January 2013. Owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-521-7300.

My wife and I really enjoy driving this car. It's comfortable, has great power, and looks fantastic. We've been completely satisfied with it. Plus, compared to an import, it was much less expensive. We believe that American cars often get a bad reputation from reviewers.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that the car has hit 94,000 mostly highway miles. Every year or so, you experience the cruise control coming off and the constant brake light problem. I understand that you've replaced several switches. The water pump went at 75K miles, and a hub bearing and tune-up were required a few months ago. On the bright side, it did well on a long road trip in July, and the trunk space came in handy then. Although it looks similar to every other jelly bean on the road, both the exterior and interior have held up well.

I bought my G6 Coupe brand new and I absolutely love it! Although it has a heavy ride, which I personally prefer, the gas mileage is good even though I don't break 35 mph on my 4 mile drive to work. While the interior leaves a bit to be desired with too much plastic and seats that could sit up straighter, I still enjoy driving it. Additionally, there are too many cup holders in the car and I would prefer an armrest in the back. However, I must say that I absolutely love the exterior, especially the back!

I am currently renting this car. Although I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with it. I usually drive a 2007 Audi A4, which only cost me about 5k more than a new G6 GT, and it feels about 100% better in terms of interior quality, handling, and overall build quality. However, I must admit that I was impressed with the 3.5 V6, which feels a lot stronger than the 219 HP it's putting out.

We purchased this car used with only a few thousand kilometers on it. However, we have encountered some difficulties since then. The rims and tires have been hard to find, and the car is too low in the winter, which has caused some damage. Additionally, cylinder 5 has a misfire, and the plug broke off in the engine, completely seizing it. The front brakes are also wearing out prematurely. Although we would like to get rid of it, we owe too much on it to trade it in. However, in a year, we plan to switch to Ford. We must admit that this car has been a bit of a disappointment. There is too much plastic, and the interior feels and looks cheap. Nevertheless, the exterior looks okay.

I received this car as a rental and I must say, it's quite fun to drive! The seats are decent, but I did find driving long distances uncomfortable due to the hard plastic around the doors. While this car may not be the best example of American car companies' ability to compete, I have to say that after owning two Toyotas in the past, I'm not convinced to buy anything else. The build quality just isn't up to par and the car feels a bit cheap.

I have an Accord. I recently had to rent a car while it was in the shop for a few weeks and ended up with a Pontiac. While the engine was nice, I found the seats uncomfortable and there was no convenient place to put my sunglasses. Additionally, there were only two cup holders and none in the back seats. The turning radius was also quite poor. Overall, I believe there are better options available.
