Pontiac G6 problems
The Pontiac G6 is a mid-size car that was produced by General Motors under the Pontiac brand. It was introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year to replace the Grand Am.
The G6 shared the GM Epsilon platform with the Chevrolet Malibu, Saab 9-3 and other General Motors vehicles. Features included a remote starting system (standard on GT, optional on base model), traction control/ABS, electronic stability control, automatic headlights as well as a panoramic sunroof option. A retractable hardtop convertible was offered for model years 2006-2009. Production ended in 2010 with the discontinuation of the Pontiac line.
With the G6, Pontiac introduced a two-digit naming convention, with the Pontiac G8 a class above the G6 and the Pontiac G5 a class below. In the case of the G6, the nameplate designated it as the sixth generation of its predecessor, the Pontiac Grand Am.

- Summary: I have had to get 3 new keys made for this car due to the security light coming on, sometimes it will not crank or start, so I have replaced the starter twice, have replaced relays and fuses, and the security light will come on while drive down the road and all gauges drop to zero, even the gas light says empty and every light on the dash comes on. But the car will still drive. But once you turn it off it will not start for a few hours! It’s impossible to find parts for Pontiac anymore so everything has to be ordered! This should’ve been recalled a long time ago!

A few nights ago driving home from the movies with my kids out of nowhere my headlights go out so I had to use my fog lights to make it home. I can't understand how isn't this a safety issue and why hasn't anyone done anything about it or why isn't there a recall. What is the wait? Are we waiting for a tragedy to occur to then do something?? This is like the 3 or 4th time that it has happened. Where is the urgency on this matter?? Or will I have to make a petition with other G6 owners that also have had this issue?? Some feedback would be nice on what to do or do I have to continue to spend $$$ with 0 results. - Summary: The dashboard showed an error message regarding the power steering. I took it to my mechanic and they put it on the computer to scan. It came back with 2 error codes. The first one was DTC C0569 46. The second one was DTC C0460 00/4B. I was told the dealership would have to address the issue. They told me these codes were not covered by the recalled part they replaced. The car has approximately 81,500 miles. There doesn't appear to be a leak. At this time the steering is working. There is no stiffness or squealing. This first popped up on the screen about a month ago. I've been concerned about driving it until I know more.

We had the top of the line G6, the GTP. This car really stood out! Everything about it was spectacular - the power, panoramic sunroof, seats, and cabin styling. It really showed how Pontiac was building some great cars to compete and make people happy toward the end of its life. Overall, it was a great car and definitely worth the money!

You've had a 1958 TR-3A, a 1972 MGB and a 1988 Chevy Cavalier Z24 convertible in your driving lifetime and this is the best overall package in the bunch. The only drawback is the tiny trunk when the hardtop is stowed, but, for heaven's sake, it IS a hardtop convertible! The thing must go somewhere! Fit and finish seem excellent. Several storage cubbyholes in the cockpit are very handy for stowage of manuals, remote controls and other 'glove box' items. ONStar and XM radio are wonderful additions. The ac/heater vents have provided a perfect home for your Garmin GPS. We'll see how she likes the trip up to our condo in Flagstaff.

We've had this car for a few weeks now and it's been great so far! As someone who does a lot of driving, I can say that it's been a reliable and comfortable ride. I did activate the XM radio, but I've noticed that it can lose signal when going under bridges or near tall buildings. However, the engine is very responsive and the steering is tight, which makes for a smooth driving experience. I bought it with about 91000 miles on it, so it was already well broken in. The interior is spacious and the back seat is surprisingly roomy for the size of the car. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to pull down the 40/60 seats from inside the car, rather than just from the trunk.

I have read several negative reviews about the G-6, but I must say that this car is the reason my husband is still with us. Recently, he was almost run off the road by another vehicle while driving on the interstate, causing him to lose control, hit a guardrail, and flip over one and a half times. Although the car is now a complete loss, my husband only needed one stitch in his elbow and had a minor abrasion on his hand. The interior cabin, except for the airbag and the windshield, remained completely untouched. Everyone, including the employee at the junkyard, was amazed that my husband walked away from the accident. I will miss my pretty blue car, but I will always be grateful that it saved my husband's life.

Specifically, it doesn't seem to highlight when in any position, and there's no indicator in the dash to inform me what gear I'm in. I would not recommend the 2008 G6 GT (with the 3.5 L V6) based on my personal experience. Despite being a loyal GM customer, having owned 4 Pontiacs prior to this one, I was disappointed with the car's performance. By 18k miles, I experienced several issues such as front suspension and steering clunks, vibrations at highway speed, rough idling, and a coolant smell from the heater. Although some of these issues were rare, such as the transmission failing to shift, others like the tire pressure monitor could not be set manually. I also noticed that the heat shields resonated, the brake pedal bound slightly, and the steering column made a rubbing sound. Despite visiting two dealerships, most of these problems were considered

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the G6s my wife and I recently purchased. We both fell in love with the car and were excited to drive them around. However, after a while, we noticed some issues with the vehicle. Specifically, we found that water leaks into the 'B' pillars (where the seat belts are mounted) during rainy weather, which caused mold to grow in the insulation. We also discovered holes at the front of the rear windows that lead behind the B pillar. If you own one of these cars, I recommend checking your windows too, as you may not notice the leak unless it's a hard rain. I hope this information is helpful and that you have a great day!

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with you regarding a recall letter I received for the transmission of my car back in December 2012. I took my car to the dealership to have the recalled part repaired in March of 2012. Unfortunately, two days after the repair, I started experiencing problems with my steering and my power steering went out a week later. After doing some research online, I found out that this is a common issue for this model. I decided to call Pontiac and they opened a case for this issue. They advised me to take my car to my local dealer and if they confirmed that it was not due to wear and tear or lack of maintenance, then they would assist with reimbursement. I took my car to the dealer and they advised me that the torque sensor was bad. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
