2015 Acura Mdx problems
The Acura MDX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by the Japanese automaker Honda under its luxury Acura division since 2000. The alphanumeric moniker stands for "Multi-Dimensional" luxury. It has ranked as the second-best selling mid-size luxury SUV after the Lexus RX in the U.S.
The MDX is the first luxury crossover SUV to have standard third-row seating, and shares its platform with the Honda Pilot. The Pilot was made available with an eight person seating configuration, while the MDX exclusively seats seven, with two seating positions in the third row. The MDX was introduced on October 5, 2000 as a 2001 model, replacing the slow-selling U.S.-only body-on-frame SLX, based on the Isuzu Trooper. In Japan, it was made to replace the Honda Horizon (also based on the Trooper) which was discontinued in 1999. In 2003, the vehicle went on sale in Japan and Australia as the Honda MDX; sales with Honda badges ended with the introduction of the second generation three years later.
First generation (YD1; 2001)
Derived from Honda's Global mid-size platform which underpins cars like the Honda Accord, Acura TL, TSX and Odyssey, it is powered by a J35A3 3.5 L SOHC 24 valve V6 engine with VTEC. Curb weight is 4,451 lb (2,019 kg), with a 106.3 in (2,700 mm) wheelbase and 8 in (200 mm) of ground clearance. The cargo floor can flip up to provide two additional seats. The vehicle is designed to hold 7 passengers, but the third row seats are small and only seat two, in contrast to the Odyssey and Pilot whose third row holds three passengers.
The vehicle features an automatic four wheel drive system (named VTM-4) that engages during off the line acceleration as well as when wheel slippage is detected. Additionally, the system offers a lock mode which can be activated and operated at low speeds and provides permanent 4WD and the equivalent of a locked rear differential; designed for climbing steep hills and getting out of stuck situations. To reduce drivetrain noise and increase fuel efficiency, the system runs as front wheel drive during normal cruising. The VTM-4 AWD system in the MDX has the same design as the VTM-4 systems found in the Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline. It is different than Honda's "RealTime AWD" system in the Honda CR-V and other models in that it can lock and it attempts to predict when traction will be lost and apply power to all four wheels before slippage occurs (by monitoring throttle inputs).
The navigation system and DVD entertainment system (also popular on other Honda/Acura models, such as the CR-V and Odyssey) options were mutually exclusive in the 2002 model. Both could be ordered at the same time since the 2003 model. The navigation option comes with a backup camera since the 2003 model. Since 2005, the navigation system featured information from Zagat about restaurants and other points of interest. The 2003 model was rated as Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. The United States Environmental Protection Agency estimates 23 mpg‑US (10 L/100 km; 28 mpg‑imp) highway and 17 mpg‑US (14 L/100 km; 20 mpg‑imp) city.
The first two model years' 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 240 hp (179 kW) and 245 lb⋅ft (332 N⋅m) of torque from 3000 to 5000 rpm. For the 2003 model, the engine was improved to produce 20 hp (15 kW) more power than the earlier models, and the wheel designs were updated. The 2004 through 2006 engine received a modest increase in power and produces 265 hp (198 kW) and 253 lb⋅ft (343 N⋅m). The 2004 model is credited with a top speed of 137 mph, and a 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds. The 2004 model features dual tail pipes instead of the single pipe in earlier models, side curtain airbags, new head lights and tail lights, and new wheels. Some chrome trimmings on the 2004 model use matte finish to distinguish from the polished shiny finish on earlier models. Little changed for the MDX during the 2006 model year with a few minor revisions to the vehicle's chrome and faux wood interior trim which could now be had with a dark grey wood (as opposed to reddish wood on earlier models), and also a black dash and steering wheel in tan interiors.

Common 2015 Acura Mdx problems
The 2015 Acura MDX has been reported to have several common problems by its owners, including transmission issues, lack of luxury, rattling windows, a cheap-feeling interior, and problematic power liftgate.
Transmission issues are one of the most frequently reported problems with the 2015 Acura MDX. Some owners have reported feeling the transmission changing with every gear, especially at slow speeds, causing the car to feel like it is missing. Despite taking their vehicles to dealers for software updates, many owners have found the problem persisting even after driving the car for thousands of miles.
Another common complaint about the 2015 Acura MDX is the lack of luxury, which is often a significant factor in purchasing a luxury vehicle. Owners have reported that the windows, when lowered even slightly, rattle uncontrollably due to a half-inch of play, which is not befitting a $50k luxury SUV. The overall interior also feels cheap, with many parts not aligned correctly, and materials that seem to have been made by the lowest bidder. Steering column covers, for example, have been reported to have huge gaps, which dealers blame on the owners, despite the fact that these issues are often present from the factory.
Service is another area where the 2015 Acura MDX has disappointed some owners. Dealers have been reported to be more interested in selling high-margin services rather than addressing known issues. For example, some owners have been told that they need an ATF fluid change at just 8,000 miles, despite Acura corporate stating that it is not necessary until 20,000-40,000 miles.
While reliability is not a major issue for most owners, the 2015 Acura MDX has had some reported problems with its steering and suspension system. Some owners have reported clunking noises, which they believe were caused by failure of the struts, and which were not replaced when recommended by their Acura maintenance team.
In conclusion, the 2015 Acura MDX has several common problems that have been reported by its owners. These include transmission issues, lack of luxury, rattling windows, a cheap-feeling interior, problematic power liftgate, and issues with the steering and suspension system. While reliability is not a major issue for most owners, these problems can be frustrating and may impact the overall ownership experience of the 2015 Acura MDX.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-26
- VIN: 5FRYD3H46FB
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: For the last 50k miles we've taken our Acura MDX to the dealership for regular oil changes. Almost every visit results in a bad battery. We've had the dealership replace a side mirror due to the electrical and several batteries as well. They've kept it for several days diagnosing issues but haven't to this day found out what's wrong with it. Now my back taillight stopped working, we bought another one and replaced it for it to work for a couple months and stop working again. Now we've taken it to another place for diagnosing, they have said the inter taillight assembly and wiring needs replaced. Seems like this has been the issue the entire 6 yrs we've been complaining. The dealership says they took care of the problem already, clearly this is a safety issue when driving at night especially. Having a taillight that works off and on is not my idea of safe or "fixed" according to the dealership.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-14
- VIN: 5FRYD3H46FB
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Acura issued Warranty Extension TSB 19-029 on 2014-2016 MDX with white diamond pearl paint. The extension covers the roof and rear door. My roof began peeling in or around 2022 and the roof was repainted without issue. The rear door just showed signs of the defect in August 2024, and the issue is clearly the same manufacturer defect as identified in the document, however, Acura is unwilling to correct the defect due to the warranty period now being expired.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM

- Summary: The contact owned a 2015 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while exiting the car wash parking lot, the vehicle was in neutral. The contact entered the vehicle. The contact attempted to shift the gear into drive, however the gear shifter was inoperable and did not move. The contact stated the vehicle independently accelerated and was unstoppable. The vehicle crossed a busy parking lot, the vehicle went up two embankments, crashed into a lamp pool, and then into a tree before coming to a complete stop. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. All the air bags deployed. The contact sustained several injuries and received medical attention at the local hospital. The vehicle was deemed as a total loss. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.

VISIBILITY PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-12
- VIN: 5FRYD4H47FB
- Components: VISIBILITY
- Summary: The sun/moon roof glass on our 2015 Acura MDX spontaneously shattered while my wife was driving down a major thoroughfare in our area. If the inside cover below the glass had been open, my wife could have been seriously injured by falling shards of glass. Furthermore, she could have been easily distracted and involved in an accident by the loud, exploding sound of the glass shattering. An inspection by myself and the dealer service department determined no external force or object caused the glass to shatter. It happened spontaneously. Nevertheless, the dealer's assessment is that the shattering was not caused by a manufacturing defect. When I contacted Acura Owner Support, I was told no other incidents of this kind have been reported even though I pointed out the the representative that a Class Action lawsuit has been filed against Acura for this very same issue.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-17
- VIN: 5FRYD4H87FB
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: transmission torque converter shudder during 20 to 45 mph.
POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-11-30
- VIN: 5FRYD3H49FB
- Components: POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: TRANSMISSION SLIPS,AND HESITATES TO SHIFT NORMALLY AND THEN GOES NORMAL AGAIN. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURED ,IT HAPPENED WHILE CRUSING AT 35 MPH, AND AT 50 MPH, STREET ,AND HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES TO FIND THE ISSUE AND ANYWAYS END UP WITH NO ANSWERS, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH 25,000 MILES AND IT NOW HAS 125,000 PROBLEM HAS NOT GOTTEN BETTER OR WORSE HAS BEEN THE SAME. THE BRAKE WARNING ALSO POPS UP RANDOMLY WHEN NO OTHER CARS ARE NEAR.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-12-01
- VIN: 5fryd4h49fb
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Torque converter shutter at speeds of 30mph - 45mph causing erratic acceleration fluctuations. I addressed the concern with the dealership at around 72,000 miles (just out of manufacturers warranty). I told there was a fluid recall. They changed the fluid which remedies the issue. The transmission fluid has to be changed every 5,000-10,000 for the vehicle to perform with a less noticeable transmission shudder. Manufacturers recommends changing every 30,000 miles to prevent transmission slipping. I did contact Acura and they dismissed my concerns, stating I drove the vehicle too much. After researching online this seems to be a common concern/problem other Acura MDX owners are experiencing.
SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-05-01
- VIN: 5FRYD4H47FB
- Components: SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN

- VIN: 5FRYD3H24FB
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: APPEARS TO HAVE ISSUES SHIFTING FROM D4 TO D5 OR WHILE IN D5. ROUGHLY AROUND 1.6K RPM THE VEHICLE SOUNDS LIKE IT IS DRIVING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS. I THINK IT MIGHT BE A TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-06-01
- VIN: 5FRYD3H42FB
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: TRANSMISSION SLIPS ,AND HESITATES TO SHIFT NORMALLY AND THEN GOES NORMAL AGAIN. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURED ,IT HAPPENED WHILE CRUSING AT 35 MPH, AND AT 50 MPH, STREET ,AND HIGHWAY. .
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-06-25
- VIN: 5FRYD4H49FB
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: WHEN TURNING SLOWLY (IE PARKING LOTS), THERE IS KNOCKING/CREAKING SOUND HEARD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. DEALER CONFIRMED NOISE BUT NOT ABLE TO SAY EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG OR WHY OTHER THAN TO SAY THAT IT NEEDS FRONTS AXLES ON BOTH SIDES REPLACED AT COST OF $1200+. IN MY OPINION, THEY DIDN'T PROPERLY DIAGNOSE IT (AND REALLY ARE JUST GUESSING AT PROBLEM). THEY ONLY TEST DROVE IT AND THAT IS NOT ONLY WAY TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. IT APPEARS TO BE A PRODUCT QUALITY ISSUE IN MANUFACTURING. THE CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 70,000 MILES. ALL SIGNS SHOWED THAT IT HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY PREVIOUS OWNER AND NOW BY ME. I HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT YEAR WHEN IT HAD 65000 MILE. AT THIS STAGE OF ITS LIFE, IT SHOULD NOT NEED AXLES REPLACED. IF THIS WAS A GM CAR, I'D SAID THAT'S PROBABLY TRUE BUT THIS IS AN ACURA WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE CAR HAS NOT EVEN BEEN BROKEN INTO AT THIS MILEAGE.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-04-08

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-09-01
- VIN: 5FRYD4H61FB
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: VEHICLE SHUDDERS AT 35-40 MPH, THE SHUDDERING IS HARDER WHEN GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE. IT SEEMS THAT THE VEHICLE DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT DOWN A GEAR. I HAVE TO EITHER LET GO OF THE GAS OR GIVE IT MORE GAS FOR THE SHUDDERING TO STOP.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-03-05
- VIN: 5FRYD3H80FB
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: ON PARTICULARLY COLD DAYS IN TEXAS BETWEEN 30 AND 45 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, MY ACURA WILL NOT START. THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS WORK, BUT THE ENGINE REVS UP FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THEN IT TURNS OFF. AFTER THAT THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR STABILITY CONTROL, POWER STEERING EPS, LANE DEPARTURE ASSIST, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, EMISSION SYSTEMS, HILL START ASSIST, COME ON AND STAY ON BUT THE ENGINE IS OFF. AFTER I TRY TO TURN IT ON AND TURN IT OFF COMPLETELY FOR OVER FIVE TIMES, THEN THE ENGINE CAME ON AND THE MDX WAS DRIVEABLE. WHILE WE DROVE, THE WARNING LIGHTS STAYED ON. WHEN WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION, WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 MILES, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON, ALL THE WARNING SIGNS WERE GONE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENS, THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO. THE NIGHT BEFORE, THE BLINKERS WERE ACTING UP. THE LEFT BLINKER SIGNAL INSIDE, WAS SOLID GREEN AND THE SIGNAL LIGHT OUTSIDE WAS FLASHING VERY DIMMLY AND SLOW, THE CLICKING SOUND TO ALERT THAT THE SIGNS LIGHT WAS ON WAS NOT CLICKING. THE RIGHT BLINKER SIGNAL INSIDE FLASHED BUT DID NOT MAKE THE CLICKING SOUND TO ALERT THAT IT IS ON, THE LIGHT OUTSIDE BLINKED NORMALLY. TODAY EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL.
STEERING,POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-01-01
- VIN: 5FRYD3H28FB
- Components: STEERING,POWER TRAIN
- Summary: BOUGHT OUR 2015 ACURA MDX LESS THEN 6 MONTHS AGO FROM A CERTIFIED USED ACURA DEALER. LAST WEEK, THE EMS, POWER STEERING AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. CAR STAYS IN FIRST GEAR AND JERKS WHILE DRIVING. SPEEDOMETER IS WEIRD. BROUGHT TO ACURA DEALER, OF COURSE THE LIGHTS WERE OFF BY THEN. WAS TOLD WE NEED TO DO SPECIAL TRANSMISSION FLUSH. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-11-07
- VIN: 5FRYD4H43FB
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: VEHICLE STOPS ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING AND LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING. MULTIPLE ENGINE LIGHTS GO OFF: CHECK ENGINE, EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM, POWER STEERING SYSTEM EPS PROBLEM, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST VSA PROBLEM, HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM, TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST PROBLEM. CAR STARTS SMOKING EXCESSIVELY. RETURNED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES IN JUST A FEW DAYS AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM APPEARS TO RESOLVE AND THEN RETURNS AFTER DRIVING NO MORE THAN 10 MILES. INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN 45 MPH SPEED ZONES WHERE WE HAD THE ABILITY TO PULL OVER AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS WILL BE CATASTROPHIC IF DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AS THE EFFECT OF THIS MALFUNCTION IS EQUIVALENT TO HITTING THE BREAKS WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED. CAR IS CURRENTLY BACK WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 4 DAYS. ACURA MDX DRIVERS SHOULD BE ALERTED TO THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY - IT HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-10-25
- VIN: 5FRYD3H45FB
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: CAR STARTED TO DRIVE 'JUMPY', THE LOCAL SHOP DID DIAGNOSE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE ABOUT WHICH ACURA HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN- AT LOW SPEED OR AT SUDDEN ACCELERATION CAR WOULD DRIVE UNEVEN, INTERRUPTED; AT CONSTANT HWY SPEED THERE WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM; CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM. LOCAL SHOP DID REGULAR MAINTAINENCE AS THE SERVICE LIGHT HAD TURNED ON, DIAGNOSED THE FAULT IN CONCORDANCE TO ACURA'S OWN SERVICE BULLETIN HOWEVER UPON TRAVEL TO ACURA DEALERSHIP THIS WAS 'NOT REPRODUCIBLE'. UPON RETURNING HOME CAR STARTED AGAIN TO INTERRUPT WITHOUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. DIAL OF RPM JUMPS UP AND DOWN WITHOUT REMAINING EVEN ATA CONSTANT SPEED. CAR HAS NEW SPARK PLUGS, OIL, FILTERS, HOWEVER THE LOCAL SHOP HAS DEFERRED THE REST FOR THE DEALERSHIP. ACURA DEALER IN SAVANNAH EXPLAINED THAT THE ISSUE IS IN FACT NOT A 'RECALL' AND I SHOULD BRING THE CAR BACK IF IT DOES THE SAME. HOWEVER PER BULLETIN THE COVERAGE LASTS FOR CARS UP TO 80K MILES AND MINE STARTED THIS AT 79+ AND BY THE TIME I WOULD DRIVE BACK TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP IT WOULD PROBABLY EXCEED 80K MILES, WHICH THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION SHOULD THIS RECUR. OBVIOUSLY THE ISSUE IS KNOWN BUT BECAUSE IT IS NOT A OFFICIAL 'RECALL' THEY WOULD DO NOTHING.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-02-15
- Fire: 1
- VIN: 5FRYD4H84FB
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE
- Summary: VEHICLE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, WHICH THE DEALERSHIP WAS VISITED FOR REPEATEDLY. THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED WHEN THE WEATHER WAS VERY COLD, USUALLY BELOW ZERO (F), AND INVOLVED MULTIPLE DISFUNCTIONAL SENSORS ALL DISPLAYING INOPERATIVE. WHEN THESE SENSORS DISPLAYED ERRORS, THAT COMPONENT OF THE CAR WOULD NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. (ONE TIME THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE COLLISION MITIGATING SYSTEM, AND THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED ON AN ICY ROAD AT FULL SPEED--ANOTHER THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AWD WHICH TURNED THE VEHICLE INTO A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE OPERATION). DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS, AND WHEN WE TOLD THEM WE WERE GOING TO TRY TO PURSUE A LEMON LAW PROTECTION ON THE VEHICLE, THAT IT WAS A POWER CONTROL MODULE THAT WAS BAD. THIS WAS REPLACED. VEHICLE RAN MOSTLY ERROR FREE FOR SOME TIME AFTER. ON THE MORNING OF 2/15/2018, THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN ORDER TO WARM UP. WHILE PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE SOMEWHERE BEHIND THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WE PUT THE FIRE OUT USING A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AS I WOULD HAVE BEEN 5 MINUTES LATER, AS I HAD NO FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN THE CAR; AND ALSO THANKFULLY THERE WAS NOT GOING TO BE A PASSENGER IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING, AS THE FLASH WAS IMMEDIATE AND INTENSE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. FURTHER, IT DID NOT CATCH OUR HOUSE OR SHOP ON FIRE WHEN IT WENT, AS IT COULD HAVE. VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. DOCUMENTATION OF NUMEROUS PROBLEMS (RECEIPTS OF VISITS TO DEALERSHIP) AND PHOTOS OF DAMAGE TO CAR AFTER FIRE ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

THE DIAPER BAG WAS THEN PLACED ON THE FLOOR OF THE BACK SEAT. DOORS AUTOMATICALLY RE-LOCKED AFTER 30 SECONDS WITH BABY AND CAR KEYS STUCK INSIDE. 911 WAS CALLED TO RESCUE THE BABY AND BUST OPEN THE DOOR. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY NEVER HAPPEN. AFTER CHANGING THE SETTINGS TO 90 SECONDS, THE CAR STILL LOCKS AT 30. ACURA DENIES HEARING THIS HAPPEN. ACURA SAYS THERE IS NO WAY TO DISABLE THIS "FEATURE".

- Consequence: If the CMBS unexpectedly applies emergency braking force while driving, there is an increased risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the CMBS software, free of charge. The recall began on July 6, 2015. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238. Honda's numbers for this recall is JQ4, JQ5 and JQ6.

I recently traded in my 04 Acura MDX for a 2014 Chevy Traverse, but it turned out to be the worst move ever. However, I was able to buy a 2015 MDX Tech and I absolutely love it! It's much easier to see out of, handles like a car, and has plenty of power with smooth shifting thanks to the six-speed auto. Although the dual screen can be a little overwhelming at first, once you get the hang of the redundant controls, it's actually quite easy to operate with little distraction. The LED headlights are second to none, and you don't even need to remove the remote from your pocket as everything is operated through proximity sensors. The third-row one-touch entry is as easy as it gets. The interior build quality is high, but there are a few little flaws. As someone who is 73 inches tall, I wish the driver's seat went back one or two more inches. I'm happy to report that the vehicle has been very reliable, with no other repairs needed beyond routine maintenance as of today. Although there are a few rattles coming from the windows when partially open and from the door trim, which I wouldn't expect from a luxury brand like Acura, overall, I'm still very happy with my purchase.

I'm really happy with the gas mileage of my 2015 MDX, which is much better than my 2011 MDX. Both vehicles require 91 octane or higher, which I always use. Unfortunately, the weather information that was included in my 2011 tech package is no longer available without an additional cost. It's frustrating to have to pay extra for something that used to be included. Additionally, the brake warning light occasionally flashes for no apparent reason. I've asked about it at the dealership, but no one seems to know anything about it or has heard of other owners experiencing it. There are currently no recalls associated with this issue. Recently, my battery failed after only 2.5 years, even though they should last around 5 years. The replacement battery was a Japanese one that had a bulge in one side, which could have been dangerous if it had exploded. Finally, the GPS is not very good and a smartphone with a GPS app is far more reliable. Despite these minor issues, the MDX is still one of the best vehicles in its class and has a very stylish design that has been copied by other manufacturers. I recently did the 100K maintenance, which was expensive but covered many items. I'm pleased to report that I don't need new brakes yet and everything is working well with my MDX. I plan to keep it for a while, but when the time comes to buy a new vehicle, I will consider another MDX and check to see if these issues have been resolved.

I completely agree with you! Having owned both BMW and Audi, I can confidently say that Acura and Lexus are unbeatable when it comes to efficiency, value for money, and a quiet drive. If others are complaining, they should try driving German cars for a couple of years to truly understand what they're missing. The only downside is the acceleration, but the mileage in this luxury segment is top class.

I just wanted to say to all consumers who are considering purchasing an Acura MDX, you cannot find a better automobile. It is safe, stylish, and eco-friendly!

Wonderful SUV just like my previous 2! Bought a 2014 Tech and realized how much I wanted the features of the Advance. So, a year later I bought another one and I must say, I have had no problems at all. It has every possible luxury feature I could ever hope for! As an Acura client, I am a customer for life!

I had an interesting experience with the 2015 MDX this weekend. Unfortunately, after only 5 weeks with my new car and less than 1,000 miles, it broke down. I was quite surprised and worried when suddenly all my systems stopped functioning and the computer warned about no all wheel drive, no power steering, no LDW, etc. Thankfully, I was able to use roadside assistance and scheduled an 8:30am appointment on Saturday morning to pick up my car and have it towed to the Brooklyn Acura dealer. However, there were some delays and I was informed that the tow would arrive at 9am, but it was pushed back to 10am and then 11am. Finally, I had a tow at 11am.

Hey there! I just wanted to give you a heads up about something I noticed with my Acura. I've experienced some sudden acceleration when braking, which can be a bit scary, especially during slippery conditions. When I brought it up with the dealer, they mentioned that Acura needs to hear more complaints before they can address the issue. Just wanted to share my experience with you and make sure you stay safe on the road!

The 2015 Acura MDX may not catch your eye at first glance, but it certainly holds its own against other luxury SUVs. The handling is light and easy to get used to, while the interior is where the MDX truly shines. The materials are of high quality and easily accessible. However, if you opt for the tech package, you should be comfortable with today's technology as it can feel overwhelming at times. The road quality is also very nice, and having owned the Audi Q7, I can say that it is very comparable. Although I have only driven 15,000 miles, I cannot comment on the reliability just yet.

The ACURA Customer Satisfaction Department has failed to assist a client who made a cash payment. Despite their promises, no concrete action has been taken. Further updates will follow. As of 10/5/18, it is clear that this ACURA vehicle is a complete lemon. Even the District Zone Rep showed no interest in a face-to-face conversation. The Service Manager even suggested driving the unit off a cliff. It is advisable to steer clear of the ACURA MDX.
