2000 Plymouth Voyager problems
Plymouth Voyager is a nameplate for a range of vans that were marketed by the Plymouth division of Chrysler. From 1974 until 1983, the Voyager was a full-size van, sold as the counterpart of Dodge Sportsman (later the Dodge Ram Wagon). Starting with the 1984 model year, the Voyager was marketed as one of the new Chrysler minivan, along with the Dodge Caravan. As a minivan, there were three generations of the Voyager from 1984 until 2000. Following the closure of the Plymouth division in 2000, the Voyager was marketed under the Chrysler brand as a lower-trim version of the Chrysler Town & Country through 2003.
From 1988 through 2016, Chrysler used the Chrysler Voyager name for export-market minivans; during the existence of the Plymouth brand, export-market Voyagers were produced with the body and trim of the Dodge Caravan. Including the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan with their rebadged Chrysler, Lancia, and Volkswagen variants, the Chrysler minivans collectively rank as the 13th best-selling automotive model line worldwide.
The Plymouth Voyager minivan was assembled by Chrysler at its Windsor Assembly facility in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; from 1987 to 2000, the Voyager was also assembled at Saint Louis Assembly in Fenton, Missouri (North plant from 1987 through 1995; South plant from 1996 until 2000).
The full-size Plymouth Voyager van was assembled from 1974 until 1983 at the Pillette Road Truck Assembly in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and at the St. Louis North Assembly Plant in Fenton, Missouri.

MY FORMER DEALER'S MECHANICS ALSO COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS OCCURS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS A QUICK AND PERMANENT SOLUTION SINCE ALL THE POWER CONTROLS SUCH AS STEERING ARE MANAGED BY THIS ONE BELT. TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2008-09-01
- VIN: 2C4GJ2534YR
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: MY MOTHER, BROTHER, AND I WERE ON AN EMERGENCY TRIP TO ARKANSAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ON 09/01/08. WE HAD JUST GONE THROUGH KANSAS CITY, MO WHEN MY BROTHER (WHO WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME) LOST CONTROL OF MY 2000 PLYMOUTH VOYAGER VAN AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VAN OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOT A CRASH INVOLVED. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS SHREDDED DOWN TO NOTHING. HE PUT ON THE SPARE TIRE AND WE STAYED OVER NIGHT AT AN IHOP RESTAURANT. IN THE MORNING, WE WENT TO WALMART AND HAD THE TIRE REPLACED FOR $84.74, AND WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE OUR TRIP. WHEN WE RETURNED HOME TO OMAHA, NE, I WENT TO SEARS WHERE THE TIRES WERE ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN MAY 2005. THE MANAGER OF THE GARAGE AT SEARS WENT OUT TO LOOK AT THE TIRE THE SHREDDED AND ALSO INSPECTED THE OTHER TIRES. HE WAS SURPRISED BY THE LOOK OF THE SHREDDED TIRE (WHICH I KEPT AS EVIDENCE OF THE DAMAGE) AND HE ALSO NOTICED THAT BOTH PASSENGER SIDE TIRES WERE SPLITTING ON THE SIDEWALLS THE SAME WAY THAT THE BLOWN TIRE DID. THE MANAGER ORDERED THREE NEW TIRES, AND THEY WERE MOUNTED ON 09/28/08. I HAVE "ROAD HAZARD PLUS SERVICE AGREEMENT" WITH SEARS, BUT IT STILL COST ME $317.96 TO REPLACE THE 3 TIRES. SEARS ADJUSTED THE BILL BY $35.11 AND $26.33 (TREAD ADJUSTMENT) FOR THE 2 TIRES THAT HAD SPLITS ON THE SIDEWALLS, BUT I HAD TO PAY THE TOTAL COST OF THE TIRE THAT SHREDDED. I WAS VERY UPSET BY THE WHOLE SITUATION. THE TIRES WERE ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAD ABOUT 33,500 MILES ON THEM (75,000 MILE WARRANTY). THE MANAGER GAVE ME THE FOLLOWING NUMBER: PJKCWKHR1005, BUT I DON'T RECALL WHAT IT WAS FOR. IN THE END, IT COST ME $402.70 ($84.74 + $317.96) TO REPLACE THE TIRES (I KEPT THE WALMART TIRE AS A SPARE). I BELIEVE THAT THESE TIRES WERE A DEFECTIVE, BAD BATCH OF TIRES, AND THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED BY EITHER GOODYEAR OR SEARS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE PARTICULAR TIRES. THE TIRES ARE GOODYEAR P205/75S14 WEATHERHANDLER LS. *TR

THE CAR IS RUNNING FINE PRESENTLY, BUT THIS IS GOING TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THE STRUT TOWER SEPARATES FROM THE REST OF THE CAR DUE TO RUST. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW FOR THIS CAR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IS COMMON. THERE IS ALREADY A TSB ON IT (23-044-02). THE REPAIR WILL COST $1,000. I HAVE ASKED CHRYSLER FOR ASSISTANCE ON IT AND THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY. Bought from a family member, this van has been in our family since new. It has been an outstanding vehicle, always reliable and running great. We have only had to replace the tires and perform routine maintenance, as well as fix an easy seal leak and replace the starter. Overall, it has been a great family vehicle. The only issue we have had is that the A/C has never been strong enough to keep the inside comfortable during the hot Arizona summers, despite multiple checks and tweaks. It can be pretty annoying, but we still love our van!

Your van sounds like an amazing family vehicle! It's impressive that you've already put 30000 miles on it in just a year and a half. You've taken it on some long trips, from MN to Colorado and even all the way to TX. It's great to hear that you've never had any problems with it and that it's been extremely reliable. Based on your experience, it sounds like a van that anyone would be lucky to own!

This is a fantastic family car! It's perfect for both in-town and out-of-town trips. Plus, if you fold down the back seats, you have a covered truck. The only thing that's missing is a DVD player in the back.

It sounds like you got a great deal at the time! Currently, your car only has 29,000 miles which is fantastic. Although you had some turn signal problems, the dealer was able to fix them for good after two attempts. Additionally, you experienced a severe shifting problem with the transmission, but the dealer was able to replace a switch and it has been fine since then. Overall, it seems like a good option if you're on a tight budget and have a warranty.

As someone who likes to save money, I think the value of this mini-van is fantastic. I paid $8,000 less for it than my brother-in-law paid for his explorer, and I wouldn't trade him even if he offered! I have a much better ride and more room, even though the explorer may look better. I prioritize value over looks, and I'm happy to report that I haven't had any problems with it. I'm even considering buying another one in a few years. The only downside is that there is some road noise at freeway speeds.

This van has undergone significant repairs three times in the past year, with each issue being distinct from the previous one. I am considering trading it for a Honda once I reach the dealership.

Hi there! I just wanted to share our experience with this vehicle. We bought it brand new back in 2000 and have put on 172,000 miles since then. We've had almost no problems with it, except for one $80 sensor and a $220 transmission leak. Other than that, we've only had to do regular maintenance. It may not be the most flashy vehicle out there, but it's definitely a solid value!

If you're considering purchasing a van, you may want to steer clear of the 2000 Plymouth Voyager. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with the transmission. Despite being aware of the problem for over a decade, Chrysler has yet to address it. I've had to replace the transmission three times in less than 100,000 miles, which is disappointing. I would recommend looking into other options to avoid similar issues.

The vehicle boasts an attractive price point, stylish design, and spacious interior. However, it may experience some unusual shifting when ascending inclines such as small hills and mountains.
