Common 2007 Nissan Versa problems
The Nissan Versa, a popular choice for its affordability and fuel efficiency, has had its fair share of issues throughout the years, particularly in the 2007 model. One of the most common problems reported by owners is engine failure.
Another problematic year for the Nissan Versa was 2008, with 538 NHTSA complaints and seven recalls. The main issue with this model year is a complex transmission system. Affected Versa owners have reported noise, leaking transmission fluid, difficulty shifting, and hesitation. The repair cost for this issue can be as high as $3,700.
The 2009 Nissan Versa also had its share of issues, with 751 NHTSA complaints and seven recalls. The most significant problem with this model is the coil spring prone to breakage. Reports indicate that the driver-side rear coil spring broke while the vehicle was in motion, causing potential safety hazards.
The 2014 Nissan Versa, while not as problematic as the 2012 model, still received the "Avoid Like the Plague" award from Car Complaints. This model year was plagued by inconvenient and expensive transmission problems, with numerous reports of transmission system failures, loud noises, and loss of power during acceleration.
The Nissan Versa, despite its popularity, has had several issues throughout the years, particularly in the 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2014 model years. These problems range from engine failure and complex transmission systems to coil spring breakage and catalytic converter issues. Potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider the associated repair costs when deciding to purchase a Nissan Versa.

I have a photo of the tire while it was on the rack at the AAA repair shop. The temperature was normal outside, and I did not see any debris in the road. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This occured at 3:50 p.m. on a weekday, and the safety of myself and the drivers around me was at risk, when the tire blew out and it was difficult to control my car on the intersstate. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The car was towed to a AAA service center, and I have photos of the tire that blew out, as well as the driver's-side rear tire that is also deformed. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, but I emailed Toyo with a report that I thought there might be an issue on Nov. 9, 2023. I was towed to a AAA service center. I have photos and the reciept from having to replace both rear tires, and get a re-alignment. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. This was a sudden blow-out on the interstate while traveling. - Crash: 1
- VIN: 3N1BC13E07L
- Components: STEERING,AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE
- Summary: While driving, I was going about 25mph, but was coming to an intersection. Before getting to the intersection the light was blinking yellow due to the time so i started to slow down so i could yield through the light. At this time, my son who was 3yrs 2mo old (at the time) was in the backseat in his carseat. As I gradually stepped on the brake pedal, I then felt a big slam, and my face smacked the airbag and dust flew all over my vehicle, and son in the backseat who didnt have an airbag deploy. As I came to realize what happened my son was in the backseat screaming and i had smoke coming from my hood. I hit a city light pole outside of a 7-Eleven store. I was unsure of what happened that caused the accident, but after it happened I got out of my car in complete shock of what hit me. my son was in pullups, and the gel stuff inside the diaper had flew all over my car as it caused the seatbelt to tighten around his legs. I grabbed my son out of the car, because it was smoking and the first thing I should have done was not moved. When i got out of car to see what hit me, i stayed on the sidewalk and waited 35mins for a cop, so by the time the cop came, who never called ems, told me i was being cited and they took my vehicle to the impound lot. The car then was considered totalled and because I was in an accident, gasoline was leaking and they said it was considered hazardous. I didn't nor did my child receive medical attention because we did not have medical insurance at the time but the officer didnt call ems. I then had to pay to get my things from the vehicle from the impound lot, and they were treating me very poorly about what i could grab and what had to left with it. I also had to pay Court Costs, and fines and due to this accident, i have suffered trauma, and my son im sure has also. My body has major pains as well as my legs, hips, neck and severe lower back pain. I am unable to care for my child as he needs at times because my body hurts so bad, i cant help.

With a sleek looking exterior and solid built interior, you can't help but feel proud cruising around in this car. It has impressive acceleration and handling that always surprises me when I'm on the road. The interior is comfortable, solid, and very inviting, making it a joy to drive. My first tank of fuel lasted 410 miles which is always a plus, and filling it back up at $2.89 a gallon only cost me around $28. All together, I am extremely pleased with my Versa!

Your Versa doesn't have CVT, which may be the reason why you haven't experienced any transmission issues. It also doesn't have ABS or stability control, but the only major items that needed fixing were the muffler all the way through the catalytic converter due to rust caused by road salt during winter. It's important to give your car enough car washes to prevent rust. You bought it brand new in 2006 when it was newly released, and taking it to the dealership for maintenance makes a big difference. After replacing the drive belt, some engine idling noise disappeared. You average less than 5k miles per year, and even though you no longer have a warranty, maintaining it costs less than buying a new car. You're planning to keep it until 100k miles or 6 more years. It's great to see someone taking such good care of their car!

The car we purchased stands out among the Corolla, Vibe, Fit and Yaris due to its spaciousness and comparable advertised MPG. Although the tire pressure light came on during the first 30 miles, the dealer promptly fixed it and it never came back on. Despite our conscious effort to keep the RPMs under 3000, we have only been averaging 25.5 MPG overall, with a maximum of 27 MPG. While we are disappointed with the fuel economy, everything else about the car is great. Perhaps tightening up the CVT transmission could improve the MPG. Overall, we remain confident in our purchase and look forward to enjoying our spacious and comfortable car.

I chose the Versa for its hatchback design and impressive gas mileage, which is perfect for my real estate job that requires a lot of driving. I opted for the SL model and it was definitely worth it for the keyless ignition, CVT transmission, and alloys. I really enjoy driving this car and have noticed that it outperforms its competitors. The Fit is much smaller, the Chevy Aveo is cheaply made, and the Yaris lacks interior space. I consistently average 33.5 MPG with a mix of city and freeway driving, and have had no issues with the car except for regular oil and tire changes. Overall, I love this car!

I went from a large SUV to this Versa and I absolutely love it! The gas mileage is twice as good and the interior is comfortably sized. It also has good power, great styling, and features such as a sunroof, Bluetooth, and CD stereo package. The hatchback has an easy entry trunk with fold-down back seats.

It may be time to consider parting ways with this car once it reaches 100k. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the check engine light coming on and problems with the transmission. Despite taking it to the dealership, the root of the issue remains unknown. I initially purchased this car for its great gas mileage (around 35mpg), but unfortunately, I have had to spend a significant amount of money on repairs once it passed the 100k mark.

Oh no! It sounds like you're having a tough time with your vehicle. The transmission, engine, and air conditioning are all broken? That's a lot to deal with. Is there anything else that's not working?

At 128,000 kms (79500 miles), the driver's side CV Axle failed and broke, causing the car to skid uncontrollably to the side of the road. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The car was towed and the Axle and Driveshaft were replaced for $700. During the repair, it was discovered that the passenger side axle was also in poor condition and needed to be replaced. While I am disappointed with the quality of the product, I would not hesitate to take action to ensure my safety and the safety of others on the road.

Hey there! So, I got a Nissan Versa as a Christmas gift in 2006, which was pretty exciting at first. However, I had a bit of a scary experience when all of the airbags suddenly deployed in my face while I was dropping off my fiancé and some groceries. It was definitely frustrating, but thankfully the Nissan dealership was able to fix it for me, although it did take about 9 months. To make things even better, they initially tried to make me pay for it, but the corporate office confirmed that it was covered under warranty. Unfortunately, I've had some other issues with the car, like a jacked up transmission, poor quality plastic and metal, a broken tire pressure sensor and O2 sensor, brake light wiring issues, and more. Overall, I'm not too impressed with Nissan and their cars, but I'm grateful for the experience nonetheless.

It's been almost a year since my first review and I wanted to give an update. I'm getting 27 mpg with mixed driving and some hard accelerating, but with a light foot, I'm getting 35 mpg. The steering wheel's lowest setting is too high for my liking and the material is really slippery, making it hard to turn with one hand. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of legroom in the driver's seat for me. However, despite these drawbacks, I still really like my Versa. It's very comfy, and I get great use out of the hatch and the folding rear seats. Plus, you can't beat the price of it!
