2008 Nissan Versa problems
Nissan Versa is an automobile nameplate used by the Japanese manufacturer Nissan in the Americas for the following models:
According to a Nissan press release in 2008, "versa" is short for "versatile space" meant to imply the spaciousness of the interior and configurable cargo arrangements. The Versa is one of the few remaining subcompact cars left on sale in the North American market, with most automakers dropping small cars from their lineups to focus on crossovers and SUVs.

Common 2008 Nissan Versa problems
The Nissan Versa, a popular subcompact car, has been known for its budget-friendly price tag, competitive mileage, modern features, and good performance. However, like all vehicles, the Nissan Versa has its share of common problems. This article will explore some of the most frequently reported issues with the 2008 Nissan Versa, based on complaints from owners.
- Transmission Issues: Transmission problems are among the most reported issues for the Nissan Versa, particularly in the 2012-2017 models.
- Steering Problems: Nissan Versa owners have reported that their vehicles tend to drift into other lanes and sometimes lock up without warning, particularly when driving on the freeway at average speeds.
- Suspension System Problems: Based on reports on CarComplaints.com, nearly 30% of Nissan Versa problems can be linked to the suspension system, particularly in the 2009 model.
- Windshield Wiper Issues: If the windshield wipers on a Nissan Versa aren't working, it is likely that the wiper motor is broken.
- Fuel Pump Failure: Some owners have reported issues with the fuel pump or faulty fuel pressure regulators, which can cause a long crank or no start.
- Broken Coil Springs: Many Versa owners have reported broken coil springs in the front suspension, particularly in the 2007-2012 models.
- Exhaust Leaks: Exhaust leaks are a common area of complaints, with issues such as rusted-out muffler flanges or mid-exhaust pipes and rattling heat shields.
- Faulty Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor or Stuck EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve: These issues can cause the Check Engine light to come on, and may require replacement of the defective part.
- Door Lock Actuator Failure: One of the door lock actuators can stop working and might need to be replaced.
- Blower Fan Resistor Failure: If the blower fan is working only at a high speed, it might be due to a bad blower motor resistor.
In conclusion, while the Nissan Versa is a popular and affordable option for many car buyers, it is important to be aware of these common issues. Regular maintenance and prompt repairs can help ensure a safer and more reliable driving experience.

I started recording it. It’s insane I loved that car, it was payed off and it still looked nice. -it gets worse They tow the car to North Shore Towing. I report it to my insurance and the appraiser that attempted to see the car was not allowed access because I didn’t sign a release form so I go to the towing place and sign the release form. The appraiser goes for the second time and is refused entrance. Weeks went by so I call the insurance which informs me of the previous two failed entries to North Shore Towing. I ask the staff male on the phone why he didn’t allow the insurance agent entry to inspect vehicle I had signed the release form. The staff male literally laughs at me on over the phone. You want to know what component? Inspection? And today my friend mentions his car has been recalled and light bulb went on and here I am asking for your help. I have videos witnesses Also I have proof that of the signed document to release the car to insurance agent

SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-08-19
- VIN: 3N1BC13E18L
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: I found a piece of a broken coil spring in my driveway (where multiple cars are parked) in NJ. A quick visual inspection of all the vehicles typically parked near that area did not show any sitting uneven or any obvious evidence of any with problems. A few weeks later, after driving approx 1000 miles on my nissan, I noticed that the front suspension seemed shorter and quicker to bottom-out. This was obvious when rolling over speed humps. Another, more in-depth inspection of the front springs revealed an unseated spring on the left front. The spring appears to have slipped off or through the bottom cup and is not centered on the strut. After looking the vehicle up on NHTSA site this appears to be related to Manufacturer Recall NumberPM565. The NJ vehicle is currently in NC. I plan to take it to a Nissan dealer to have the recall work performed.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-07-15
- VIN: 3N1BC13E48L
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSIONS ON NISSANS ARE UNSAFE. FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, OUR NISSAN VERSA WOULD BRIEFLY LOSE POWER WHEN WE STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL, BUT IT ONLY HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY AND TEMPORARILY. THEN ON JULY 15, IT GOT MUCH WORSE. WE COULD BARELY DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT WOULD CONSTANTLY LOSE POWER. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR AND CONTINUED AS WE WERE TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR A COUPLE OF BLOCKS ON THE CITY STREETS. I AM THANKFUL THAT WE WERE NOT ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE CAUSED A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. WE LEARNED LATER THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CAR WAS TRYING TO START IN A HIGH GEAR INSTEAD OF A LOW GEAR. OUR 2008 NISSAN VERSA IS 6 WEEKS PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE ARE BELOW THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT OF THE WARRANTY AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS LIKELY BEEN GIVING US PROBLEMS FOR YEARS, NISSAN WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY. I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD BE ORDERING A RECALL ON THE CVT TECHNOLOGY, ESPECIALLY FOR THE OLDER MODELS. THEY KNOW THE TECHNOLOGY IS FLAWED AND UNSAFE, THAT'S WHY THEY CREATED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. BUT IF YOU'RE JUST OUT OF THAT WARRANTY PERIOD, THEY WON'T HELP YOU OUT AS A CONSUMER. IF THEY PUBLICIZED THE CVT PROBLEM AND ORDERED A RECALL, THEY WOULD PREVENT HAVING UNSAFE CARS ON THE ROAD.

I recently visited the Nissan dealership and asked for their most affordable car. To my surprise, I was presented with a no-frills 6-speed manual Versa. I had to drive it back from the dealership's other site, which was about 30 miles away. The test drive was fantastic, and I must admit, I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I've only had the car for a few days, but I have to agree with all the other reviews - it's a fantastic car!

I never thought the day would come when I would consider buying a compact car, but with gas prices hovering around 4-5 dollars, it's a no-brainer. Despite my initial negative mindset towards compact cars, I set out to go shopping. I was looking for a car that was fuel-efficient, comfortable, and stylish, all while keeping the price under 13-14K as it was going to be our third car at home. After looking at various models from Kia, Toyota, Hyundai, and GM, I decided to check out the Nissan Versa. To my surprise, I found everything I was looking for in this little car. Even at 6'2

The car was basic, but it had a stick shift and sunroof which made it a lot of fun!

The Nissan Versa 4dr hatchback with CVT, cruise control, and Bluetooth technology is a great car for long distance trips. It is very roomy and comfortable, making it perfect for extended journeys. Although it is heavier by 500 pounds than the YARIS/ECHO, it performs exceptionally well on the highway, even on windy days. The car is extremely stable and the interior is well-finished, with a good sound system. While there were a few minor issues, such as the cable opening hood breaking on the third try and the air conditioning making noise, these were easily fixed by emptying and refilling with the proper level of refrigerant. Additionally, there were some frustrations with Bluetooth compatibility, but after reading the Nissan website carefully, it was discovered that the Nokia 5200 and Nokia 5300 are fully compatible. With a little patience and training, the Bluetooth can be easily set up.

I've owned two BMW's in the past, but the last couple of years have been tough financially. Unfortunately, I had to spend over 7k on car repairs for my BMW Z3 due to overheating problems that caused two headgaskets to blow within a 6 month span. As I was no longer making 6 figures, I needed a recent model car with reliability for around 10k. That's when I found the 2008 Versa, which turned out to be my best option. It's a subcompact car, but surprisingly spacious with a very comfortable interior. The 1.8 engine has a lot of pep and the car feels well-built, not cheap. I bought it with 55k miles and it still rides and handles like a new car. It's been very reliable and I've had it for over a year now. The trunk has tons of cargo room and the back seats are as spacious as a full-size car!

Where do I start? The car definitely runs well, but slowly, has problems with even a mildly steep hill. Traveling in the rain and snow is a complete hassle. Aside from lack of power, I haven't had problems with trans, engine or drive train. However the exhaust heat shield rattles after one month of ownership. The electronics are lackluster, being just windows and a radio, but the drive side is automatic so that's a bonus. The fuel economy is good but not great, considering the size, I don't have an exact estimate but I top it off every week and a half with a relatively short commute. Storage is okay, nothing spectacular, I moved with this car but I only had a bedroom's worth of furniture, on a side note the hatchbacks lift broke within a week of owning it. In summary, this car will do but there are tons of better car in the used market, definitely look elsewhere especially with Honda civic/accord, Toyota corolla/camry, ford focus, and other nissans like the sentra.

Although there have been some challenges with the car, I am confident in my assessment of its performance. The tire pressure light has been persistent, and the bluetooth has not been as functional as I had hoped. Additionally, I have experienced some discomfort due to the shocks when entering and exiting the vehicle. The gas mileage has been around 25 mpg on the freeway, which is lower than the advertised 35 mpg. Unfortunately, I had to replace the tires within the first 6 months of ownership. Despite these issues, I remain confident in my ability to handle the situation. While the dealership has not been able to assist with the shocking problem, I am confident that a solution can be found. Recently, I have noticed some slipping in the transmission while driving, which is concerning. As a mother of two, I am cautious with the car and do not treat it harshly. Overall, I would recommend considering other vehicles before making a purchase.

I've always liked Nissan cars, and this is my fourth Nissan. I've owned a 240sx and two 300zx because I believe Nissan offers better quality and safety for the same price. I have to say, for less than 20K, I got a fully loaded Versa Hatchback SL with a power roof. Although it's not the most economical car in its class, I'm satisfied with my purchase. I just hope the mileage can be better, but there's always a balance between mileage and power. Compared to the Toyota Yaris, Scion xD, and Honda FIT, the Versa is the fastest in its class, which makes sense. I've test-driven all the cars listed above, and I personally think Nissan handles the best when it comes to corners and balance.

Although it gets better mileage than my Rendezvous, there are some downsides to this car. For example, there is no place to put your right arm, the cup holder is in the wrong place and there are too few of them, the CVT is very noisy, and the AC needs a lot of redesign help. Additionally, the steering wheel position is not comfortable and the visor mirror has no lights. On the plus side, the doors are nice and wide, and there is lots of headroom, which makes it easy for tall people like me to get in and out. The rear wiper also improves vision greatly. While I am getting 28 mpg in suburban driving, which is great, I am only getting 34 mpg on an interstate trip with the cruise set at 65 mph. In comparison, my Buick would get 31 to 31 mpg on the same trip. All in all, I would have expected better mpg and I miss some of the Buick features, including ONSTAR.

After doing a lot of research, I narrowed down my options to the Honda Fit or the Versa. Ultimately, the better dealer financing made me choose the Versa. However, after a month of driving it, I am a little hesitant to recommend this little hatchback. The gas mileage has been okay, but not great. We have gotten between 21 to 29 miles per gallon depending on how much highway driving we do (this is the CVT model). The driving comfort is the biggest issue. The lumbar support is non-existent, the seats are short, and there is no support under the thighs. Additionally, the steering wheel is too far away if you're not ridiculously short. The ride is okay, but it blows around like a leaf in the wind and doesn't feel well connected to the road (it easily drifts). That being said, it turned out to be excellent in snow. It was easy to control and stop.
