The Nissan Sentra is a series of automobiles manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan since 1982. Since 1999, the Sentra has been categorized as a compact car, while previously it occupied the subcompact class. Until 2006, Sentra was a rebadged export version of the Japanese Nissan Sunny, but since the 2013 model year, Sentra is a rebadged export version of the Sylphy. The Sentra nameplate is not used in Japan. Many other countries in Latin America sell their versions of the Sunny as the Sentra. In Mexico, the first three generations of the Sentra were known as the Nissan Tsuru (Japanese for crane), and the B13 model was sold under that name until 2017, alongside the updated models badged as Sentra.
In North America, the Sentra currently serves as Nissan's compact car, despite being rated as a mid-size car by the EPA due to its interior volume since the 2007 model year. While previous Sentras were subcompacts, the Sentra has grown over the years, with the Nissan Versa having replaced the Sentra in the entry-level area.
The Sentra name was created for Nissan by Ira Bachrach of NameLab, and Bachrach describes the origin as "Nissan wanted consumers to understand that it was quite safe even though it was small. The word Sentra sounds like central as well as sentry, which evokes images of safety."

- Summary: I was approaching my driveway in front of my house and my vehicle had smoke eminating from a glove compartment area when I got out of the car and checked underneath the hood the car was on fire I got out just in time there was something wrong there could have been the engine fuel system I just recently had an oil change 2 weeks ago the incident April 2, 2022 I was in fear for my life because I had no signal from the car what was happened I had just recently had an oil change a week and a half before the incident I noticed that flames were starting to rise and massive flames of ire than fumes of smoke and all of a sudden the car started burning and then the exploded destroying the entire car. - Summary: NISSAN IS RECALLING 169,202 MY 2007-2008 SENTRA PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED ROBERT BOSCH MASTER CYLINDER. DUE TO THE MACHINING IRREGULARITY BY THE SUPPLIER, THE INTERNAL SEAL GROOVE IN THE BODY OF SOME BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS MAY ALLOW FOR A GAP IN THE GROOVE CONTACT AREA OF THE SEAL. THIS MAY RESULT IN BRAKE FLUID SLOWLY LEAKING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY, CAUSING THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE.
- Consequence: IF THE WARNING LAMP IS IGNORED, ONE OF THE BRAKE CIRCUITS ON THE VEHICLE MAY NOT OPERATE AS DESIGNED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE MASTER CYLINDER/BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY AND IF BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE IS DETECTED, THE MASTER CYLINDER WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 20, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

I purchased my 2007 Nissan Sentra back in September of 2011 when it had only 42k miles on it. Although I only owned it for a short period of time, until January of 2013, I drove it a lot for work and managed to put 27k miles on it in just 1 1/2 years. Surprisingly, I never had to bring it in for anything besides oil changes and replacing the tires once. It was an incredibly reliable car and I never experienced any issues or discomfort while driving it. The only reason I parted ways with it was because I got a new job and decided to upgrade to a Volvo S80. However, I still miss my little gas-sipping Sentra from time to time. I highly recommend considering this vehicle, but make sure to have a mechanic check it over first.

I just traded in my Murano for a 2007 Sentra, which looks like a mini Maxima. I have the SL with CVT, which was a big selling factor for me. In my opinion, it beats the Civic and also compares well to the Jetta. The sound system is great and it has nice power for a car this size.

Last year, I made the decision to go back to school and needed a car that was good on gas. After trading in my GTO, which only got 21 mpg on the highway, I opted for an 07 Maxima that averages about 26 mpg and can get 30-32 on the highway driving 5 over the speed limit. However, I still needed something even more fuel-efficient for my 126-mile round trip to school. That's why I went with the Sentra, which is actually my 8th Nissan. While it's true that on the highway, the best I've gotten so far is 25 mpg, and in town I get 19 to 20, I drive like a grandma to save on gas. Despite this, it's still a nice little car. Ultimately, the main reason we buy cars like this is for mpg, so even if you don't like the Civic as much, it's worth considering due to its impressive gas mileage.

I've been searching the web for four months for an affordable car that looks good, is comfortable, and has decent gas mileage. Finally, I found the perfect one - the 2.0 model with manual transmission. At first, I was considering a Camry, but the negative reviews for the 6-speed and the $3000 higher price tag made me reconsider. This car is amazing - it handles great, has a peppy 2.0 engine, and is a lot of fun to drive. The interior cabin is nicely designed and surprisingly spacious, with even the trunk being roomy. Plus, the back seat folds down for extra access through the trunk for longer items. The sticker price was reasonable, especially considering the amount of standard features in this car.

Congratulations on your new Spec V! It sounds like you made a great choice. The car's 2.5 inline 4 engine is a lot faster than your previous 2003 Eclipse GT with a 3.0 V6. The Spec V also has a sporty ride and a big brake kit on the front, which allows it to stop on a dime. With a 0-60 time of 6.7 and a 1/4 mile time of 15.01, this car is definitely fast and reliable. Overall, it sounds like the Spec V is a sweet car that you won't regret buying!

I have extensive experience with Nissan vehicles, having owned a Nissan Altima for three years and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, my recent purchase of a Sentra has been a disappointment. Despite being a brand new car, I have had to replace the struts four times and the vehicle handles poorly in inclement weather. Despite my efforts, including purchasing new tires, the issues persist. As a confident consumer, I have decided to part ways with this vehicle and will not be purchasing another Sentra. I hope that Nissan will take the necessary steps to improve the stability of their vehicles, particularly for those living in the Midwest.

The car had multiple problems and after only having it a few months it needed repairs that cost thousands of dollars. The CVT transmission was faulty, shocks and struts needed to be replaced twice after only using the car lightly. The key-less ignition had serious problems. Vibration on freeway. Comfort was ok at best. Pretty fair cargo space for a compact car, but definitely not worth the 11,000 dollars I paid for it.
