2010 Nissan Sentra problems
The Nissan Sentra is a series of automobiles manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan since 1982. Since 1999, the Sentra has been categorized as a compact car, while previously it occupied the subcompact class. Until 2006, Sentra was a rebadged export version of the Japanese Nissan Sunny, but since the 2013 model year, Sentra is a rebadged export version of the Sylphy. The Sentra nameplate is not used in Japan. Many other countries in Latin America sell their versions of the Sunny as the Sentra. In Mexico, the first three generations of the Sentra were known as the Nissan Tsuru (Japanese for crane), and the B13 model was sold under that name until 2017, alongside the updated models badged as Sentra.
In North America, the Sentra currently serves as Nissan's compact car, despite being rated as a mid-size car by the EPA due to its interior volume since the 2007 model year. While previous Sentras were subcompacts, the Sentra has grown over the years, with the Nissan Versa having replaced the Sentra in the entry-level area.
The Sentra name was created for Nissan by Ira Bachrach of NameLab, and Bachrach describes the origin as "Nissan wanted consumers to understand that it was quite safe even though it was small. The word Sentra sounds like central as well as sentry, which evokes images of safety."

Common 2010 Nissan Sentra problems
The 2010 Nissan Sentra has several common problems reported by owners, which can be categorized into transmission issues, electrical problems, and mechanical issues.
Transmission Issues:
Transmission problems are among the most common and serious problems that can happen to a Nissan Sentra. In particular, some 2010 Nissan Sentra owners have reported inaccurate speedometer readings, which can be caused by transmission issues. These issues can lead to a rough engine performance, a check engine light, and possibly even a total transmission failure.
Electrical Problems:
Electrical issues are also a common problem in the 2010 Nissan Sentra. The most common electrical issue reported by owners is a malfunctioning heater fan, which can cause the fan to make excessive noise or not work at all. Another common electrical issue is a malfunctioning tire pressure sensor, which can cause the warning light to illuminate and can lead to safety concerns.
Mechanical Issues:
Mechanical issues are also common in the 2010 Nissan Sentra. One of the most common mechanical problems reported by owners is piston slap, which can cause a knocking or ticking noise from the engine. This issue can lead to a decrease in engine performance and can potentially cause engine failure if not addressed.
In addition to these common problems, the 2010 Nissan Sentra also has some unique issues that are not as common but still worth mentioning. For example, some owners have reported peeling hubcaps, which can be caused by a manufacturing defect or by driving on rough roads.
In conclusion, the 2010 Nissan Sentra has several common problems that can affect its performance and reliability. These issues include transmission problems, electrical problems, and mechanical issues. While these problems can be frustrating for owners, they are generally not safety concerns and can be addressed with proper maintenance and repairs.

I'VE GONE THROUGH 3 CATALYTIC CONVERTERS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. NISSAN SAYS THEY'RE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND KNOW OF NO FIX. GOING THROUGH FORUMS, IT APPEARS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP ENGINE FROM OVER COMPENSATING THE TIMING IS TO ISOLATE THE KNOCK SENSOR FROM THE ENGINE WITH A RUBBER O RING. I HAVE DONE THE REPAIR, BUT CAN ONLY USE PREMIUM FUEL OR RISK CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. IT ONLY APPEARS TO HAPPEN TO THE 2007 TO 2012 SE-R SPEC-V (MANUAL TRANSMISSION). I HAVE REPLACED ALL WIRING HARNESSES, ECU, SENSORS AND EVERYTHING ELSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. IT TENDS TO HAPPEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF TURNING CAR ON. GOES AWAY SOMETIMES AND REAPPEARS SUDDENLY. ENGINE BUCKS AND CONVERTER TURNS BRIGHT RED. HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2018 AND IS RECORDED ONLINE FORUMS AS FAR BACK AS 2008. Congratulations on your son's first car! I'm glad to hear that you prioritized safety when choosing a car for him. After considering the Civic EX and Mazda 3 Sport, you decided on the Sentra and it sounds like it was the perfect choice. The Sentra is spacious, enjoyable to drive, and comes with great features like paddle shifters, a moon roof, and a Rockford Fosgate audio package with an iPod adapter and back up cam. It's great to hear that your son is getting 26 MPG even without any highway miles. It seems like a great value for the price and I can understand why your wife wants one too! Thank you for sharing your positive experience with the Sentra.

Just put on 1200 miles and this car is great! It's very quiet and comfortable. I traded in a van and I have no regrets. I get about 31 miles to the gallon with mixed driving. It feels very solid and the build quality is excellent. It has great power for city driving with 6 speed manual. It's fun to drive in the city and it's quiet, what's not to like? I'm very happy with my purchase!

I've only had this car for a few days, so the above numbers can and will change. I traded in my 07 Matrix, which was underpowered and had an extremely loud engine. It was literally driving me crazy, especially on the highway. The car had only 25,000 miles on it. I have to say, when test driving the SR, it made me realize I could no longer tolerate my noisy but dependable Matrix.

Choosing a new car can be a tough decision, especially when you've had your previous car for almost a decade. I recently went through this process and ultimately decided on the Sentra SR over the Toyota Corolla. While there are many Corollas on the road, the Sentra SR's fun style really spoke to me. Although the ride comfort of the Sentra is not quite as good as the Corolla, I really appreciate the ergonomics of the cockpit and how easy it is to reach everything. Plus, I love the thumbs up I get from strangers on the road for the smoked lights and superb black paint. The transmission can be a bit jerky at speeds under 40mph, but the dealer assures me that this is normal for a CVT. Overall, I'm really happy with my decision and excited to hit the road in my new car!
-
I really appreciate the design and features of this car. After doing over a month of research and price comparisons between the civic and corolla, I found that you get so much more with the Sentra than any other car. I paid 15,000 for my SL, while a similarly equipped civic would have been over 20K.

If you reduce your speed to 20mph using the brake and allow the car to stop itself, you may feel a stiff ride at 15mph even without applying the brakes.
