2017 Nissan Juke problems

nissan logo

The Nissan Juke (Japanese: 日産・ジューク, Hepburn: Nissan Jūku) is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan since 2010. Debuted as a production vehicle at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March, it was introduced to North America at the 2010 New York International Auto Show to be sold for the 2011 model year, and it currently slots below the compact Qashqai.

The second-generation model was revealed for the European market in September 2019, offering larger dimensions by utilising the newer Renault–Nissan CMF-B platform. The second generation marks the withdrawal of the model from most markets outside Europe and Australasia to make way for the Nissan Kicks.

The name "juke" means to "dance or change directions demonstrating agility", and is also derived from the word "jukebox".

Common 2017 Nissan Juke problems

The Nissan Juke, a compact crossover SUV produced since 2010, has garnered a reputation for several common issues that potential buyers should be aware of. These problems, which range from transmission issues to electrical faults and engine problems, have been reported by owners of the 2017 model year

One of the most significant issues reported with the Nissan Juke is transmission problems, particularly with the continuously variable transmission (CVT) found in some models. This issue can manifest as whining noises, slipping gears, and even transmission failure. These problems can be costly to repair and may require the replacement of the entire transmission

Electrical faults are another common issue with the Nissan Juke, particularly in older models. These faults can affect various components of the car, including the central locking, windows, and dashboard displays. For example, the airbag or ABS warning lights may come on for no reason, and the air conditioning system may experience failures over time. These issues can be caused by electronics that begin to "live their own lives" and can be difficult to diagnose and repair

Engine problems are also a concern with the Nissan Juke, particularly with regards to the timing chain. Some owners have reported issues with the timing chain, which can cause the engine to fail if not replaced at the recommended intervals. Turbocharged versions of the engine may also experience issues with the absolute boost pressure sensor, which can fail and cause problems with engine performance

Suspension issues are another common problem with the Nissan Juke, particularly on cars that have been driven on rough or poorly maintained roads. The Juke's firm and sporty suspension can be vulnerable to wear and tear, which can impact the car's handling and ride quality

Fuel system problems are also a concern with some Nissan Juke models, particularly with regards to the fuel injectors and the fuel pump. These issues can cause a loss of power and reduced fuel economy, which can be frustrating for drivers

Finally, the Nissan Juke is known to be prone to rust, particularly around the wheel arches and the bottoms of the doors. This can be an expensive issue to fix and may require extensive repairs to address. It's important to have a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic or specialist who can identify any potential issues with the car, and to obtain a vehicle history report to check for any past accidents or maintenance issues

In summary, the Nissan Juke has several common issues that potential buyers should be aware of, including transmission problems, electrical faults, engine problems, suspension issues, fuel system problems, and rust. By doing their due diligence and having a pre-purchase inspection, buyers can minimize the risk of encountering these issues and ensure that their used Nissan Juke is in good condition.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2016-09-01
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: JN8AF5MV3HT
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: We purchased this vehicle brand new and currently has 24,000 miles and has always been garaged . I just became aware now that there is no functioning burglar alarm and possibly no ignition lock-out similar to the Kia and Hyundai issue . Even though there is a functioning armed indicator light on the dash and there is a horn alert on locking and the button on the key fob alerts , there is no alarm on attempted entry or other assault . I looked the other day to see if the alarm fuse might be blown and there was no fuse in that position and there was only one wire to that position which , of course , makes it non- functional . This vehicle has had the tires vandalized , sabotaged, 3 times and hit-and -run all in our church parking lot while we were inside the building , car locked , armed ? , and no alarm sounded ever . There is nothing in the owner's manual that says the alarm or lock-out is optional . I have owned a 2011 Juke , a 2014 Juke and I was not aware of any alarm problem . I have just contacted nissanUSA and local dealer , no response yet .

Nissan service center has checked this issue, but they just rather change the battery instead of checking why this is happening . decrease of acceleration starts around month 9 or 10, the difference right know is that even with the battery exchange is still happening.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-07-09
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: JN8AF5MV0HT
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: This has happened several times in the couple months ive owned the car, the scariest incident involving the transmission slipping and the car losing power was after having to stop on the shoulder of i95 highway this was the first time i had even given it more than the reasonable rate of pedel pressure or "gas" and im expecting to get up to speed to merge back into the flow of traffic however right at 45-50mph as im merging into the far right lane of the highway the engine just screams out and rpms max out the car slows rapidly. This is becoming more and more frequent and also theres times we take for granted when we need that engine to work to either get out of an intersesction, merge into traffic, use the cars power as a preventative measure to stay safe in various environments. Driving through baltimore city, a group of young men surrounded my car a week ago and start giving it an entire washing , mind youu im at a red light, but theyve got buckets and soapy rags sudz everywhere and when it turns green the older looking of them screams "50 bucks explicit explicit " " I know you got it" i dont have a dollar on me just my credit cards and also my little neice penelope. i see an opening and floor it but instantly engine winds all the way up , its just ravving out the boy throws a rock cracking my windshield , the crack is aligned with my face so imagine my anxiety levels trying to explain to my sister penelopes mother what had her daughter screaming and crying . So in short the transmission has been a nightmare and I would love to see a recall or some other recourse for me. I am a new owner , i have seen there was a lawsuit awhile back, i took the car to Jone Nissan in Beliar MD after they sweat talked me into bringing my car right away saying things like man are you lucky, and your still udner warranty , your getting a new transmission compliments of nissan, just hyping me up to the tone of take a loaner car and we're fix everything free of charge. Negative 2017 Nissan Juke car reviews

  1. Noe Strosin 2024-11-25

Hey there! I would advise against purchasing this product. It seems to have a similar issue to the one Toyota had with their accelerator getting stuck. So, it's probably best to avoid it if you value your safety.

  2. Elbert Fadel 2024-10-19

That sounds like a tough ride! It's important to test drive on rough pavement if that's something you normally encounter. The climate controls can be a bit complicated with 12 buttons and 2 knobs that also function as knobs, and the display brightness is independent of the instrument cluster dimmer control and can only be adjusted while parked. Unfortunately, there's no storage in the console. On the plus side, the car has good MPG and performance, and a nice sounding stereo.

  3. Raul Simonis 2024-09-13

The vehicle exhibited several issues, including a vibrating gas pedal and a loud clicking noise when using the brake pedal. Despite being under 2000 miles, the car also occasionally struggled to start the engine. Although the technicians acknowledged the abnormality of the gas pedal, they deemed the rattling engine and the windshield wiper issue as normal. Due to these concerns, the car was traded in for a different vehicle.

  4. Brennan Kutch 2024-08-28

My 2015 Nissan Juk with 27300 miles experienced engine and turbo failure. Despite having purchased the vehicle with only 27058 miles, the warranty did not cover the damage. The vehicle has been at the dealership since 12/21/2017 and I am currently working with them to resolve the issue.

  5. Jean Stehr 2024-06-28

The car's styling used to be unique, but it seems like everyone has one now. Let's take a look inside. The carpeting could be improved, and it's surprising that there are no power seats. The air conditioning is struggling a bit in the current 85-degree weather, but it's still bearable. However, it might not be as comfortable in hotter climates. The XM radio cuts out frequently, which can be frustrating. The Bluetooth phone works fine, but it can be a bit repetitive to use. The navigation system requires the car to be stopped in order to enter a destination, which can be inconvenient. As for performance, there are some issues with hesitation and power, and the turbo doesn't seem to add much. The car also rides quite rough, and you can feel every bump in the road. Our Ford Explorer, which is built on a truck platform, actually rides smoother. Overall, there are some areas for improvement, but the car is still functional. Hopefully, any issues can be resolved in the future.

Positive 2017 Nissan Juke car reviews

  1. Noe Murphy 2024-11-16

The Nismo RS version of the Juke may not make sense for its price point, but it has depreciated significantly more than its competitors in the same class. Although it's not remarkably fast or very comfortable, and the design choices may require some getting used to, the car is an absolute bargain and truly a hidden gem. In 2020, the front-wheel drive 6mt version with 218 CV, LSD, Recaro Seats, Bodykit, half decent wheels, Alcantara interior, DAB radio, Bluetooth radio, and 360 Camera is available at an unbeatable price point. SUVs and Crossovers do not need 500hp under the bonnet, and the Juke's 218cv matches with a very playful 6-speed manual, making it absurd value for money. Moreover, the Juke is extremely lightweight, despite its crossover proportions giving the illusion of weight, making it lighter than many performance hatchbacks.

  2. Jeremie Mohr 2024-11-14

It's not too bad, just a little rough riding.

  3. Daryl Denesik 2024-11-03

I test drove a couple of Jukes and really liked them. However, I noticed that they had a bit of road noise, which was the only reason I decided not to buy one. Additionally, I would prefer it if the 'pigtail' on top of the vehicle was removed, as I personally find it to be a bit dorky-looking.

  4. Monroe Bailey 2024-10-25

Hi there! I've had my Nismo for 1.4 years and it has 13,189 miles on it. Unfortunately, the transmission is already leaking and it's quite difficult to locate the exact source. The dealership will need to remove the whole front end of the car to repair the leak, which may lead to more leaks from the tear down and reinstall. I wouldn't recommend buying this car. However, I did have it repaired and so far it's been doing well.

  5. Tevin McKenzie 2024-09-25

I really enjoy driving my Nissan Juke. It has a great pickup and I've received many compliments on it. I do have a few suggestions for improvement, though. Firstly, it would be great to have a designated spot for cell phones in the car. Secondly, the cup holders could be moved to a more convenient location. Additionally, some of my passengers have mentioned that a couple more inches of leg room would be appreciated. Lastly, the wipers can be quite noisy and distracting while driving. Overall, I think Nissan makes high-quality and stylish vehicles, and I'm very happy with my Juke-box (except for the wipers). Oh, and a little more elbow room wouldn't hurt either!
