Nissan Juke problems

The Nissan Juke (Japanese: 日産・ジューク, Hepburn: Nissan Jūku) is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan since 2010. Debuted as a production vehicle at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March, it was introduced to North America at the 2010 New York International Auto Show to be sold for the 2011 model year, and it currently slots below the compact Qashqai.
The second-generation model was revealed for the European market in September 2019, offering larger dimensions by utilising the newer Renault–Nissan CMF-B platform. The second generation marks the withdrawal of the model from most markets outside Europe and Australasia to make way for the Nissan Kicks.
The name "juke" means to "dance or change directions demonstrating agility", and is also derived from the word "jukebox".

What is the downside of Nissan Juke?
Space and practicality
Though you do sit quite high in the Juke, giving you a decent view out of the front, there's a bit of a cramped feeling inside. It's not uncomfortable, but if you want more space to stretch out, the likes of the Skoda Kamiq and Volkswagen T-Cross will appeal more.

Nissan Juke 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-07
- Date Complaint: 2024-05-28
- VIN: JN8AF5MV9DT
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: Smelling and leaking gas. Smell in stronger when driving the vehicle. Took it to a car shop and they stated that the fuel pressure sensor was leaking. There was a recall at one time for this and I have called the Nissan customer service and filled a claim. The Nissan makers states that they could not fix the problem due to the recall had already been fixed in 2018. Even though it has been 6 years, I think they should be liable to fix this issue. There is either something wrong with the sensors or it was not tight enough to start with.
Nissan Juke 2016

No the car is now totaled. The vehicle did receive an appraisal inspection. No they were absolutely no warnings or anything that made me feel I shouldn’t have been driving my car. Nissan Juke 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-14
- Date Complaint: 2024-04-15
- VIN: JN8AF5MRXDT
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I am asking about the fuel system recall 12V069000 calling to tighten the fuel pressure sensor. Why has the turbo part number been rescinded a few times. Along with the TSB # NTB16-035a calling for the oil line to be replaced whenever turbocharger MX is performed. Since the recall was performed before the TSB and it required the oil one to be removed, could this have caused the faulty turbocharger. I have had one turbo charger replaced in 2019 - 5 years ago and my turbo charger went out again yesterday - 4/14/2024 at 150,000 miles. It threw a code P2263. Clearly this is a defect and beyond costing a lot of money, a safety issue.
Nissan Juke 2014
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-06
- Date Complaint: 2024-03-26
- Fire: 1
- VIN: JN8AF5MV7ET
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS
- Summary: A couple of weeks ago on my way home from school I could smell something burning. I stopped my car and started looking around to find that the front passengers seat was smoldering and burning a hole in my backpack, toque and the seat itself. The seat warmer switch was in the off position. My dad has since disconnected the wiring to the seat warmers on both drivers and passenger sides. This seems to be a safety issue. Has there been other complaints like this for these vehicles? We have not been to the dealer, we have contacted Nissan and were told the following "Your vehicle is out of warranty and therefore is not our problem" The car has 170,000 kms on it but this is a safety issue not a warranty complaint.

- Date Complaint: 2023-12-05
- VIN: JN8AF5MV9CT
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Timing chain needs replacement however the timing chain was already replaced in 2014 under Nissan recall NTB14-030c campaign P4213. This car has 54,000 miles on it and has been serviced at Nissan dealerships according to the Nissan service schedule. There is no reason for this part to need replacing again after so few miles unless the Nissan part was bad, there is an underlying manufacturing issue with the vehicle or the recall replacement was done incorrectly. Nissan Consumer Affairs refuses to assist because the car is out of warranty.
Nissan Juke 2012
- Date Of Incident: 2019-01-01
- Date Complaint: 2023-12-05
- VIN: JN8AF5MV9CT
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I have a 2012 Nissan Juke and every one of the door lock actuators has had to be replaced. The problems started early on, but the door locks intermittently fail when using the key fob or external door button. Using the internal door lock button is more likely to work even when the key fob and external button fail. Because the failures are intermittent, it is hard to get this diagnosed and replaced at the dealerships. I have had to take the car to the dealership many times, pay a $200 diagnostic fee and then sometimes they replace the door actuator and sometimes do not. Over the past 4 years I have replaced 3 of 4 door actuators and will be replacing the 4th door actuator now. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs regarding the issue, as it is a known issue, but they refused to assist because the car is no longer under warranty.

- Summary: Sept 2022 i bought my 2012 Nissan Juke from Jeff Wyler’s Nissan King AutoMall. April 23 the left, lower ball joint/axle (drivers side) broke. Needed fixed. Almost $2,000. I specifically asked them to check right sided ball joint/axle. Oh it’s fine. We checked it out and it’s all good. Less than 3 months later-the right sided axle and ball joint broke. It only took over 6 weeks and 3 different places (discount tires, tire discounters and Jeff Wyler’s dealership) to figure out what was wrong with my vehicle at this time. This time it cost me more (but since jeff wylers mechanics fix things and then jack up the price by $800) it actually cost me $1550 to fix it this time.I could have died. On both occasions and now it feels like the backend of my juke is shaking apart. I’m scared to death to drive my vehicle and I’ve told Jeff Wyler I think they sold me an unsafe vehicle and I am now terrified to drive it. But it’s the only car we have in our family and I can’t afford to buy another one. You have no idea as to how terrified I am to drive my car now; especially with that rear end shaking. omg! I’ve never owned a Nissan before and this is my last I have also asked Jeff Wyler’s dealership-wouldn’t this have been caught on their inspection of selling a used car? Wouldn’t the mechanic in April seen signs/symptoms of stress on the right sided ball joint when they looked at it when they fixed the left side? How do things like this get missed? & put MY LIFE IN DANGER as well as every other person on the roads while I drove with broken axles and ball joints? How can they sell vehicles that are not safe? omg! You cannot comprehend the terrified feeling along with anxiety/nausea and just pure terror of driving a vehicle that shakes still and where I’ve had to fix 2 separate massive breakages in the driveway mechanics or frame (idk. The 2nd time it happened; I thought its a bad tire). I am now more religious and spiritual because of this. I now pray several times daily

This is a great car for the price! I've been getting an overall mpg of 33.1 this summer, with a lot of highway driving. It handles corners wonderfully and has impressive speed. While some of the interior materials may feel a bit cheap, it's still easy to enjoy the sound system even with the noise on the road. Plus, it's not any noisier than a BMW, so that's a plus!

I have driven BMWs, Toyotas, and other cars, but the 2011 JUKE has been the best car for me. I have put 30k miles on it and have not had a single issue. This car handles great, has excellent pick up and power, and is by far the most reliable car I have ever owned. Hats off to Nissan for doing everything right! By the way, I am 6'5

We didn't plan on purchasing a new car, but we started looking and stumbled upon the Juke. It's everything they said it would be - great handling, stylish, and spacious. While it may not haul like a big car, the transmission is great and the mileage is a nice value. My husband and I couldn't be happier with our purchase. On December 18, 2015, I had a small accident in the Juke and damaged the transmission pan along with some other undercarriage parts. Unfortunately, it took until January 30th, 2016 to get the Juke back because the parts were not readily available. We had it repaired by AL West Collision, but the car rental cost us over 1000.00 dollars. While the accident was my fault, the extreme wait was not. It would have been fair to at least split the car rental cost. The repairs were fine other than the wait. The car is still great, but it would be helpful to have parts readily available in cases like mine or offer a loner car if parts cannot be located. UPDATE March 18, 2017 - we've had the Juke for about 19 months now and it's still as wonderful as when we first bought it. The Nissan dealership asked if we were interested in trading it in, but we declined. We are more than satisfied with our great car!

I really love my Juke! While I understand that this car may not be for everyone, let's address some of the potential drawbacks first. The cargo space is limited, but there is a split folding option for extra room. The back seat may not be comfortable for adults, especially on longer journeys, as headroom and legroom are tight. Additionally, there is a blind spot that requires extra attention when changing lanes, and the ride can be a little stiff with some road noise. However, let's focus on the positives! This car is incredibly sporty, with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that can do 0-60 in 7 seconds, rivaling some 2-door coupes. The CVT is responsive, and there is an option to shift up or down via the center gear lever if you want more control. The steering is super responsive, and you can feel the road in the steering wheel. Living in Colorado, I can attest that the Juke is a blast in the snow, with 7 inches of clearance and AWD that works like a champ. The AWD does everything I could ask it to, and you can switch it to FWD only if you want to save on gas mileage. Speaking of gas mileage, I average 34 MPG in the city. The Bluetooth and voice command system work well, and calls through the speaker system come in clear. In summary, as a parent of two young kids who came from a coupe, having 4 doors is great, and the back seats will not be outgrown for at least 6 or 7 years from now. While it may not have a lot of cargo space, this car is a perfect combination of what I want. It is fun, great on gas, amazing in the snow, and reliable with a 10yr/100,000 mile bumper to bumper and lifetime powertrain warranties. If you are looking for a vehicle to commute in that looks fantastic, you will not find anything else that is this good for the price you pay!

I spent months researching cars and came across some reviews on the Juke that were a bit concerning. However, after owning it for two weeks and putting 1K miles on it, I can confidently say that I am in love with this car! The 6-speed transmission and handling are fantastic, and it's just too much fun to drive. I also appreciate the stylish design and the easy-to-clean interior (which is especially important for me as a mom of a boy!). Additionally, I'm getting great gas mileage, averaging 29.7 mpg. The only thing I wish was different is that the gas tank was a bit bigger. While I can't speak to its long-term reliability yet, I'm hopeful that it will be as great as my previous Pathfinders. Overall, I highly recommend the Juke to anyone in the market for a new car!

The timing chain on my 2011 Juke recently broke, causing significant engine damage that requires a replacement. Despite having 75000 miles on it due to my job requiring travel, I am confident that this car is built to handle anything. While Nissan has agreed to cover the cost of the engine and parts, they have requested that I pay for the labor. However, I am confident that this investment will be worth it in the long run. Although the new engine is only covered for 12 months or 12000 miles, I am confident that it will perform well beyond that. While this experience has been frustrating, I am confident that Nissan will continue to stand behind their products and provide excellent service.

I had a great time driving this vehicle until it suddenly died on me without any warning. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the timing chain that caused the issue. Despite there being no signs of any problem, it broke and left me stranded in the middle of the highway. Thankfully, I was able to coast to the next exit and wait for a tow to the nearest Nissan dealer. Although I initially thought it was an electrical issue, the dealer confirmed that it was the engine. However, diagnosing the problem would take 5 hours and cost $500. It was disappointing to learn that the timing chain issue is quite common, and Nissan was not very helpful in resolving the issue, especially since it occurred just outside of the warranty period.

In September 2015, I took my 2013 Juke, which I had purchased new and had only 42,000 miles on it, to Courtesy Nissan in Richardson, TX because the engine light had come on and the car was experiencing diminished performance. The dealership examined the car and reported that the oil pan was full of sludge and metal. Initially, the dealership claimed that both the factory warranty and extended warranty were in effect. However, later on, they requested that I sign a statement agreeing to cover the costs of the engine tear down ($3,000) if further examination determined that a factory defect was not the cause of the sludge build-up. If that were the case, I would then need to replace the engine at a cost of $12,000 plus. It is disappointing that a 2-year-old car with only 42,000 miles did not live up to the Nissan reputation, especially since the car had been maintained with regular oil changes. No sensor alerted me of a low oil condition until the engine light came on in September. Despite this, I am hopeful that we can work together to find a solution to this issue.

The snow builds up in the wheel wells, which means you have to dig it out every day. Additionally, the paint chips really easily and the heater and defogger are not warm or strong enough for Minnesota. Despite these issues, I still love driving my Juke. It performs well in the snow and ice, but it does require daily maintenance to clear the wheel wells. I have noticed some rust spots and chipping paint on my 2.5-year-old car, but overall it's still a great ride!

I purchased my Nismo Juke four years ago and it has been a bit of a love-hate relationship. I was drawn to the Juke because I wanted an automatic, all-wheel-drive crossover. If you are considering buying a Juke, I highly recommend getting the warranty. Unfortunately, my transmission failed at only 68k miles, which was very disappointing. However, I must say that overall, this vehicle is a beast in the snow, has quick acceleration, and is styled to my liking. Despite this, the CVT transmission has been a bit of a nightmare.
