1994 Mazda Navajo problems
The Mazda Navajo is a mid-size SUV manufactured by Ford Motor Company for the Japanese automaker Mazda, and is a rebadged version of the first generation Ford Explorer. It was Mazda's first SUV, and was offered with a choice of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
The Navajo won the 1991 Motor Trend Truck of the Year award, but because of its Explorer origins, its reputation deteriorated amid the Firestone and Ford tire controversy.
Differences
The Navajo featured a few minor changes from the Explorer it was based on. It got a revised front fascia, new taillamps and wheels, and the bumpers were painted dark gray (resulting in the deletion of all chrome trim). The interior was largely shared between the two model lines, with the Navajo receiving its own lettering for the instrument panel (in line with other Mazda vehicles), and Mazda lettering was added to the Ford steering wheel hub.

- Remedy: A WEDGE WILL BE INSTALLED WHICH WILL SERVE TO LOCK THE PARKING BRAKE SELF-ADJUST MECHANISM PAWL INTO ENGAGEMENT WITH THE RACHET. ALSO, OWNERS WILL BE ADVISED TO RELEASE AND REAPPLY THE PARKING BRAKE WHENEVER TOOTH SKIP OCCURS AND WILL BE REMINDED TO ALWAYS TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND LEAVE THE VEHICLE IN GEAR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED.

Hi there! I just wanted to share a quick story about my 1992 Navajo LX 4WD. I owned it until 1999 when I was rear-ended on the Belt Parkway in Queens, NY. Believe it or not, there wasn't a scratch on it! The solid rear bumper really did its job. Unfortunately, the other driver didn't stick around and their car was completely totaled. On a more positive note, my Navajo was a champ in the upstate NY snowstorms, easily handling 2 feet of snow with no problem.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share a little bit about my car. I bought it from Utah back in the spring of 2001 and it's been a great ride ever since. When I first got it, I installed some top-of-the-line Monroe shocks, put on four brand new tires, and added a K&N air filter. It's been 137,000 miles and it still runs like a dream!

I think you have a great truck! It's awesome that it gets you and your friends around all the time. Not only does it look nice, but it also drives great and is awesome on gas. Plus, it's fun to drive! Sounds like it's your best truck yet.

Hello! I just wanted to mention that the Navajo and the Ford Explorer are very similar cars. Interestingly, the Explorer has a Consumer rating of 8.3 while the Navajo has a rating of 6.6. Despite this, I can personally attest to the Navajo's reliability. After a tuneup and some Slick50, my truck with 146,000 miles is running great!

This is one of the most comfortable cars I have ever had, second only to a Ford pickup. It handles well in all weather conditions and is both fun and relaxing to drive. Although mine is a 2-door, which can be challenging to get into as we age, the comfort and size are fantastic. I particularly appreciate the rear door, which opens the window separately before the whole back opens up. Since we got it in '98, I have put 120,000 miles on my '92 and I still LOVE IT!

It sounds like you have a great truck! Even with 230,000 miles on it, it's still going strong. Although it has had a few issues, like the 4WD not working and the armrest breaking, it's impressive that the engine still has most of its original performance. Overall, it seems like a reliable and trustworthy vehicle.

Although my Indian friends were offended by the name of my car and even went as far as to key it, I am confident in stating that it is the worst car I have ever owned, with a rating of 1 in every category. However, I remain optimistic that things could be worse.

Same as the Ford Explorer. Engine is bullet proof. 175,000 miles and still going strong and not burning any oil.
