2008 Hyundai Azera problems
The Hyundai Grandeur (Korean: 현대 그랜저) is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1986, over five generations.
From 1986 to 1996, the Grandeur was the flagship for Hyundai's South Korean range before the Hyundai Dynasty was introduced. It is marketed globally as the Hyundai Azera. As the Azera, it was the flagship of Hyundai's US and Canadian lineup until the arrival of the Genesis sedan. After the launch of the separate Genesis brand, the Grandeur/Azera resumed its place as the company's flagship.
As of the 2017 model year, the Azera is no longer marketed in the United States and Canada. The sedan continued to be available in South Korea and the Middle East.

Common 2008 Hyundai Azera problems
Based on complaints from owners of the 2008 Hyundai Azera, several common problems have been reported:
- Fuel Economy: Another common complaint is related to the fuel economy of the 2008 Hyundai Azera. Owners have expressed dissatisfaction with the gas mileage of the vehicle, highlighting concerns about its efficiency and cost of ownership.
- Resale Value: The 2008 Hyundai Azera has been reported to have lower resale value compared to other vehicles in its class. This can impact owners who are looking to sell or trade in their cars, as they may not get the desired return on their investment.
- Electrical Problems: In addition to the common issues reported by owners, there have been recalls related to electrical problems in the 2007-2008 Hyundai Azera models. Specifically, a recall was issued to address power-adjustable driver's seat issues caused by faulty switches supplied during manufacturing. These switches could short-circuit, leading to intermittent operation or movement of the seat without driver input, posing a safety risk.
These problems can significantly impact the ownership experience of the 2008 Hyundai Azera, affecting aspects such as safety, performance, and overall satisfaction with the vehicle. Owners facing these issues may need to address them promptly to ensure the continued reliability and functionality of their cars.
Is the 2008 Azera a good car?

Is Hyundai Azera a reliable car?
Overall, the Hyundai Azera is a solid contender. According to repairpal.com, the Hyundai Azera scores ⅘, placing it above average in reliability and first out of 12 full-size vehicles. This vehicle scores well in reliability. If you want the best, pick one of the most reliable years available for the Azera.
How long do Hyundai Azera last?
Typically, you can expect the Hyundai Azera to last around 200,000 miles with excellent care on your end. The more work you put into careful driving habits and care for the components, the happier your Azera will be and the longer it will last.
Why did Hyundai discontinue the Azera?

I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL HYUNDAI TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND IT IS READING A FAULT CODE B1489 INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM (PODS). SINCE THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER HYUNDAI MODEL'S DATING BACK TO THE MID-2000'S THAT HAVE HAD RECALL'S ON THE PODS, I AM WONDERING IF MY VEHICLE MAY USE THE SAME SEAT SENSOR'S THAT THE OTHER MODEL'S USE. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A STRAIGHT ANSWER TO IF WHEN THE PODS IS DEFECTIVE, WILL THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOY, OR WILL THEY DEPLOY NO MATTER WHAT SHOULD THE EVENT BE TRIGGERED.

THE AZERA USES THE EXACT SAME ENGINE, FRONT CYLINDER BANK GASKET, AND ALTERNATOR AS THE VERACRUZ AND SUBSEQUENTLY SUFFERS FROM THE SAME PROBLEM THAT LED TO THE RECALL ISSUED FOR THE HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. PLEASE REVIEW AND COMPARE MY CLAIM AGAINST THE EXISTING RECALL FOR THE HYUNDAI VERACRUZ AS OUTLINED ABOVE. I FEEL IT'S WORTH NOTING I ALSO CURRENTLY OWN A RECALL EFFECTED VERACRUZ AND HAVE BOTH VEHICLES FOR SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON. - Summary: Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Accent, model year 2007-2011 Azera, Sonata and Sante Fe,2006-2011 Tucson, 2009-2011 Elantra Touring, 2007-2010 Elantra, 2008-2011 Veracruz, 2009-2011 Genesis, 2010-2011 Genesis Coupe, 2007-2008 Entourage, and 2006-2008 Tiburon vehicles. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
- Consequence: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of Park without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. The safety recall began on April 22, 2013. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's recall campaign number is 110.

I have been driving my new Azera for three weeks now and I absolutely love it! The ride is powerful, smooth, and noiseless. Although I originally wanted the white color, it was not in stock, so I ended up purchasing the Titanium Blue. And how lucky was I? The blue color is so rich and beautiful! Not only that, but I was able to own this car for 10-20,000 dollars less than I was expecting to pay, which is a huge bonus. I truly believe that Hyundai makes a fine product. I will be sure to write another comment in about six months, after the break-in period.

I apologize in advance if my review is a bit confusing. I purchased the car pre-owned and it had already gone through 4+ owners. When I bought it, it had 196k miles on it and a mid-firing spark plug. I replaced all of the spark plugs and engine coils, and it ran perfectly until it hit 197k miles. At that point, it developed a loud engine knock. I took it to a mechanic who informed me that one of the engine pistons was going out. He also warned me that if I continued to drive it, it could potentially explode. However, he did mention that this type of engine typically experiences this issue around 150-170k miles, so mine lasted past its expiration date, so to speak. Despite the short time I had it, I found it to be a nice and smooth ride. Considering it's a 2008 model, it still felt pretty luxurious.

I spent a lot of time researching online for the purchase of a second car. The Hyundai warranty was very persuasive and I had all intentions of getting a 09 Sonata Limited with the navigation option. However, after a very satisfying demo of the Sonata, I made the mistake of sitting in a 2008 leftover Azera. This car immediately wowed me. After some negotiating, I was able to purchase the Azera Limited with the ultimate nav option for an 'out the door' price of $27,500. It was about $2,500 more than the Sonata, but it is definitely worth it. It is a beautiful ride and you really don't need anything more.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with Hyundai. Back in 1986, I had the chance to look at their cars but didn't end up buying one. Recently, I sold my 2001 Audi A6 and was looking for a newer model to replace it. I drove a Sonata on a dare and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. However, I was still looking for a more powerful luxury car that could compare to my Audi Quattro, which was the best handling car I've ever owned. That's when I discovered the Azera. Not only was it $6,000 less expensive than a comparable A6, but it was also 2 years newer! I was blown away by its mileage - at a steady 80 mph, it gets 22 mpg, and at 53 mph, an astonishing 29 mpg. The ride is incredibly comfortable, and the handling is excellent for a FWD full-size sedan. I can't say enough good things about the dealer in Delray Beach - they treat me like gold and have even replaced the shocks and turned the rotors above 30k miles. As someone who has driven all types of cars over the past 40 years, I can confidently say that the Azera is one of the best. I would definitely buy it again!

All features work well and the car handles well. I now have about 13K miles on the car and I noticed that the front rotors are showing signs of wear. The dealer indicated that this was due to the hardness of the brake shoes. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue? Also, the gas mileage is less than impressive.

Aug 31, 2009 ... So I have put about 10 K on my 07 azera limited. The engine makes a whining noise that seems to get louder as you accelerate.

I purchased this car used in August 2009 with 28,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, the engine has developed a loud ticking noise that is especially noticeable on cold days. Despite my attempts to have it fixed under warranty, the dealer has refused, stating that they cannot do anything until something actually breaks. It's frustrating when a warranty doesn't seem to be honored. Additionally, the ride can be a bit noisy and jittery, which can be unpleasant. I'm concerned that in another 20,000 miles, the car may not be in great condition. I'm planning to sell it this summer when the weather warms up and the ticking sound is less noticeable.

Although I initially enjoyed this car, it has unfortunately been plagued with numerous issues, such as rattles and clicking noises. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, the problems persist and have caused me great frustration. I am hopeful that a resolution can be found, but the current situation is unacceptable.

After driving 6000 miles, I have encountered several issues, mostly electrical. Unfortunately, the air bags were broken just 1 week after purchase, and my driver seat moves backwards while driving. Additionally, the finish of the dashboard is separating around the airbag housing. Despite these issues, the car drives well. However, I am concerned that it may not hold up in the long run. Based on my experience, I am hesitant to purchase another Hyundai in the future.
